I took class in college about different death customs, beliefs in the afterlife, and deities associated with different cultures. It was really interesting. Seems Mori subscribes to the Ancient Greek system. At least it's more efficient than the Egyptian system.

Now I'm thinking of if all the systems exist in some form and it's a total mess. Each Reaper and soul needs to decide which one they want to use.

You know I kinda hope she never goes into specifics on what the underworld is supposed to look like.
The few things we do know that I can think of is that the placement of buildings and things vaguely coincides with the overworld, there's not an actual sun in the underworld and the locations from the Red MV are also in the Underworld.
I honestly really like the idea that places in the underworld look like Liminal space with weird or repeating architecture like in the Monogatari series.

I hope she doesn't go into every detail either. She's done the basic functions like the Styx is how you get there. I picture things as mostly Gothic style for the official business areas and then there's the regular city-type stuff which is far less impressive but more fun (Those are the areas Mori liked to go and some looked down on her for it) It's not Heaven or Hell, those are their own realms.

The lyrics of Red made me think Reaper headquarters is a castle. One where Mori used to try to hide herself away when she had to be there. Now she has her own place and whenever she does go through the palace she is not shy to be seen.
