What you are doing is somewhat retard, you want to find the "true peak" (in hope you can weed out raids and Zs) but the peak is the highest recorded value and there will be more false positives (streams whose peak is real but that gets clipped by your algo) than true positives (streams whose peak was artificial and that should be clipped)
