2D models don't really take that long to make. The only thing that extends the time to make a 2D model is how many assets and animations you want to add to it. Otherwise, it's essentially just getting an artist to make a drawing, which doesn't take that long, and then getting a rigger to set up animations. A very basic 2D model could easily be made in under 3 months.

Basically, Cover hated her for some unknown reason and proceeded to use NDA as pretext to justify firing her.
