I have thought a bit about it, but youtube advertising is probably very bad at bringing new viewers and subs and may only work in special situations when the message resonates with the public and has a strong emotional pull effect.

In that case when using a MV for this it should be one with a positive message telling a story which resonates with the target audience and makes them curious about it.
The other possibility is to go the Haachama route of standing out at all costs and doing unexpected things, but that path leads to devastation.

But this may just be Youtube using MV's in song playlists with passive listeners.

Youtube subtitles are pretty easily done by using a program called Aegisub which can spit out a .srt that you just import into Youtube. It's very quick and easy, and allows you to play around with formatting that isn't available through YT's native, crude subtitling page. Embedding them into the video itself is something I'm less familiar with, so the only time I did it was by hand through Adobe Premier. However, I'm sure there is software that can read in a .srt or similar formats if you want to embed them into the video.

Clipping the video is probably best done with downloading a copy through yt-archive or ytdlp, and then cutting with FFMPEG rather then using Streamable since I have no clue if they're doing some compression which hurts quality and doing it the right way isn't hard at all.

If you're serious about doing this, I'd unironically suggest going to the big official Hololive Discord server, they have a channel for subbing that have pinned comments with a bunch of resources and guides, both the translation feedback and translation discussion channels. Some of it is specific style guides like certain colors for certain girls, but there's a bunch of technical resources as well.

HandBrake is powerful, free, small, and easy to use software for hard coding the subs on top of the video. You basically just drag and drop your clip and your aegisub file into the software and it will generate a new video file for you.
Streamable free will not give you 1080p encoding so I never use it, but it works fine if you only care about getting 720p.

I'm gonna go outside the norm and say that it might be Kaf for me. Despite how shy and reserved she normally is, when she starts singing she just fills the stage with her voice in a way that's pretty unusual. AZKi to a lesser extent can do the same thing, but I think her discography doesn't lend itself to that as much, so she can only do it on songs like Inochi and a few others that let her really just skate at the edge of breaking down. Of course, all that stage presence Kaf brings does disappear the moment she lapses back into her normal self when she's talking during the MC parts, and she has shown no signs of being able to actually dance which is still cute.

Not really out of the way when most of ones worth listening to are already collected here. When I first started I didn't have standards or examples to draw from, but nowadays I just need like a minute of listening to know whether it's a skip or a sub. Pitch, vibrato, smoothness, etc. compared to my favorites.

I find that to be the real reward, like being able to appreciate which novel has good writing, or understanding the subtexts conveyed in a movie scene with terse dialogues, because you have seen many before.
