Hi! Been lurking for about two weeks or so now, first time posting. I love what you guys do and I really enjoy the creativity and seeing people bounce ideas off one another. I came because, as the person largely responsible for its existence, I wanted to look into adding some lore about the Kindred (and the pregnancy cult specifically) or just be someone to bounce ideas off of, no matter who it’s for, Holo or Niji. Alright, I'm back on my PC now! So first off, there was another pregnancy kindred in here who had the very beginnings of something written for the pregnancy cult: https://rentry.org/gx6d6 I believe she also posted this in /luxnoc/ and you responded to it? I also offered her suggestions for how to flesh things out a bit more >>27122400. I'm not sure where she was ultimately planning to take this, as she got busy pretty much right after this and hasn't done any writing for this thread since. Now, onwards to some of my thoughts about Kindred. Have you read the Kindred creation myth linked in the Luxiem overview? This will make more sense if you have.

- Kindred's shapeshifting ability is a passive effect of Vox's chuubanite, but the people believe it's due to their youkai ancestry. "Adopted" Kindred eventually gaining the ability as well after spending long enough in the Holy Kingdom is a matter of some ceremony, as the people regard it as the newcomer receiving Vox's blessing.

- There are limits to the level of shapeshifting possible based off merely the chuubanite's passive effects. While people can change their appearances and make minor cosmetic changes (black sclera and the growing of horns or claws, for example) they can't make any changes to their basic physiology. No drastic height changes, no complete sex changes -- though they could very convincingly pass for the opposite gender if they so desired -- no functional gills or wings, and so on.

- These shapeshifting effects can be further enhanced by refining the chuubanite and performing a ritual. This is a well-kept religious secret. The commonfolk believe this is caused by stronger youkai ancestry, and thus a closer relation to the original Kindred. Higher-up members of the clergy undergo this ritual, repeating it each time they rise in rank, allowing them to take on less and less human forms.

- The capital city, Akuma Castle, is a perfect recreation of Vox’s old estate. This is both the heart of the kingdom and a Forbidden Palace type deal. Only the highest ranking members of the clergy, believed to be reincarnations of Vox’s original clansmen, are allowed within its walls. These priestesses and the rare priest or two would be the only ones allowed to wear scarlet.

- Functionally, this means as you get further and further into Kindred lands, the people become less and less human-looking as well as more and more fervently, frighteningly devoted to their god.

Anyways, there is one thought I had about the shapeshifting concept (which I really enjoy, btw!) because I know that you referenced that many Kindred try to emulate Vox's appearance through shapeshifting in the Luxiem overview. One thing I was thinking about was a sort of fringe idea amongst some Kindred that this is a form of blasphemy, and that emulating Vox should be discouraged because he's divine and trying to copy him or, even worse, pretend like you're as good as he is is a really egregious offense. I wonder if there would be some kind of ideological rift between those who view it as a form of flattery and those who view it as a form of blasphemy. One idea I've always enjoyed with worldbuilding groups (I play tons of text RPGs with my friends) of people etc is disjunction and how things may not always be as uniform as they seem. Basically like infighting in groups about the "right" way to honor and worship Vox, with some seeing imitation as the highest form of flattery and some seeing it as a cheap way to pretend like you're more important or special than you are and that nobody deserves to be Vox except, well, Vox.

I like that idea a lot! Officially of course the church doesn't mind -- worship is worship. But there would likely be those even among the clergy who view the practice with some distaste. I suspect among the cultists the idea that it's blasphemous would be more firmly rooted, especially if we go with the idea that the cult chooses one person to become Vox's "avatar" every few months. Taking on Vox's appearance without that blessing would then be regarded as extremely offensive, since you're a "fake" avatar.

I like dissonance in groups because it makes everything feel more human, in a way? Outside of the context of cults ofc where conformity is the name of the game. Been trying to cut down on quantity in favor of quality recently. I figured out if I write my thoughts in docs the night before, i make better content overall. For these two there really shouldn't be many fantastical aspects at all, it only needs to be kept in mind that they're the strongest of the boys' armies, with the Kindred slightly edging out the Briskadets due to sheer numerical advantage. Most of what I have on the Kindred's army is pure aesthetic -- they adopt more demon-like forms when going to war and wear oni half-masks that cover the bottom half of the face.

The Briskadets might be a bit more troublesome since you will need to incorporate some aspects you can't base entirely on history. I think you were here when that one Kadet was asking me about making Briskadet soldiers resemble VSF troopers? In respect to her, the Briskadets should be fairly experienced with artillery compared to the rest of Ninisani. While eastern Ninisani is technologically quite a bit behind the west due to the Badlands, I think the boys' kingdoms potentially having access to more advanced strategies can be explained through a combination of many migrants bringing knowledge from outside the continent with them, as well as a period of rapid advancement for Noctyx (similar to the one you're having your own armies go through in the Pomerlane saga) being triggered by the Comfydants' arrival. It also would've been in the Empire's entire best interests to make sure the Briskadets are well armed and up to date on military strategy, since they're the first line of defense for Stargazers. Commanders have access to modern tactical gear, but this should be handed out extremely sparsely since my goal is to not completely break the setting.

If you're up for an additional challenge, you can consider putting together an army for Lucubs, which might also help you better utilize your Lucub allies whenever they come up in your saga. Technologically, they're behind the other boys' kingdoms, but they're abnormally physically powerful. They enjoy fighting, not due to bloodthirst like the Lucubs but for the exhilaration of physical exertion. The rosebutas are not a bad direction to look in for inspiration. I believe I mentioned it in my overview, but they have lion partners who they live and fight with. If you'd rather not deal with this, feel free to leave it be.

I was saving these orders for the story but I'm out of time. Lieutenant Caroline is going to give Risuners a few simple orders.

1) Contact with Sanalites not wearing spacesuits are forbidden (this includes sex). This is to protect Sanalites from diseases natives may carry that could infect Sanalites and vice versa. We don't want natives to get sick by Sanalite colds and flus.
2) Entry to private quarters of Sanalites is prohibited. Once again, diseases.
3) Visitors must undergo a quarantine when they arrive at the settlements to test for diseases. Once cleared, visitors are free to roam around the settlement.
4) For visitor's safety we ask them to remain inside the settlement during the visit. We cannot protect them if they're lost in the wilderness.
5) Only NASA citizens and civilians are allowed inside Lammington station. If visitors have business with the leaders of NASA then we can arrange a meeting outside the station in the temporary embassies.

Risuners are free to carry their weapons with them. Just know that all Sanalite citizens are armed as well. I'm sorry if this offends Risuners. But we do this with every visiting native. Once you're clear of quarantine you're free to roam around the settlements.

In world risuners have benefited greatly from just letting everyone in. I agree IRL with a lot of the comments that this is definitely a powergrab (although a very generous one at that) but i dont like to metagame. The left side has port cities filled with foreign powers on the beaches using /risu/ as an international trade hub. If you did this a lot earlier this would be a definite yes but since we mainly have /inf/ and /morig/ its a bit more complicated. Especially since kronies kind of got their first and are technologically advanced.

Risuners value their forest above all. Even with the deadbeats they do not happily chop down trees, even if they do replant them. The fact that you ask for a lot of land which would mean deforestation is the main issue here. Risuners have made sacrifice before but the amount of area and establishments you ask for is simply too much. Shave off some of your settlements and it will be considered more.

It's about 50/50 for me desu. There is good definitely but a lot can be abused. For now I would like to add this.

Dont know what you mean by 'roman style' but note that /inf/ road is nothing special. They have what they need to be an efective road and nothing more. Basically its wood and not that wide. Certain trees were marked to be chooped down and while risuners did provide food the kronies did all that labor themselves. So if you want a road you gonna work for it.

To give you a rundown of how shit works in /risu/ we dont go over the top with buildings and stuff. You have basic accomodations but nothing too stupidly fancy as risuners deem this to be not necessary and an eyesore to their beautiful natural paradise of a nation.
