for rule of thumb you can assume that your trade ships handle any open ports they can access and do general trade for resources regardless of any written down agreement and vice versa would our ships with your open ports.

trade deals specified in the thread are more for either very specific things liek for example /vrt/ trading war goods for pomerlanes personal equipment.
or trade agreements that are supposed to showcase a more in depth dealings of nations, for example /vrt/ and /who/ agreeing to free trade with no taxes between each other as well as granting port offices to each other respectfully.

I'd say our relations are strained... At best. Yes Pomudachis have helped with starting /rose/ back up, but they also have a tendency to be rather rude over in /NijiEN/. It's hard to call Pomudachis friends when they like to fling terms such as "rosecuck" and attempt to turn us into the next Pentomos. Not to mention their natural arrogance is rather off-putting. I mean no offense when I say this, it's simply what I've observed.

there were multiple long-going discussions about this. i thought it was finally over a while ago. threads that are based on chuubas have concepts that are focused on the chuuba, while threads like /horni/, /nasfaqg/, /retro/, /ybc/ etc, etc, aren't based on chuubas, and thus wouldn't get any chuubanite, and threads like /niji/ and /holo/ are based on multiple chuubas, and thus would get multiple types of chuubanite, which isn't balanced. being based on concepts forces each thread/nation to limit their powers to one, and also arguably gives us a more grounded and adaptable magic system. i figure the archives have some of those discussions, but idk if all of them were included because i didn't have the foresight or knowhow to archive them myself.

i haven't had the opportunity to enjoy that bit of autism for a while, but there is basically no justification for one side besides a faulty argument that technically, if you stretch the definition enough, every thread could be said to be indirectly, loosely based off of one vtuber or another, or at least the general idea of vtubers and the stuff vtubers do, therefore all chuubanite should be based on chuubas. the otherside, in addition to being able to explain everything the other could have explained, also doesn't lead to setting-destroying logical inconsistencies that have to be handwaved away, or balance breaking paradigms where the biggest corpo also gets all the unique magic powers they could think of without needing to think of unique ways of using them.

I think we my have screwed up by using a magic mineral as our sole power system. Things need to be complex enough to make sense, yet simple enough to explain to someone who has no idea what any of this means prior to. There is no in between. If you cannot do both, you cannot expect others always understand things that are “made up” like chuubanite. Not everyone cares about the autistic intricacies of everything. some of us also really like the physics stuff.

Also, here you have to understand the history of the concept. When chuubanite was initially proposed, the general consensus was that there was no magic at all in the setting. Chuubanite was designed as a system that would make the /vtwbg/ setting a low magic fantasy, where magic is not too dominant and would be actually difficult to use. Back then most of >us wanted to avoid a situation where magic would overshadow technology (and I still want to avoid that. Technology should not lose to magic, they should be equals in what they can do, to a certain extent at least). To achieve this, a lot of restrictions were needed for the magic system. Thus chuubanite took the form it has.

The idea that always made the most sense to me was that the part of the heavenly realm that chuubanite bridges to is based on the beliefs of the person using it and those in the surrounding area. Chuubanite dug up in /fbk/ would be influenced by the overwhelming Fubuki worship and more easily connect to those concepts. If taken to /nene/ then the chuubanite would slowly adapt to the new dominant religion and eventually start behaving according to those rules. As for less chuuba-specific threads, I don't think it's fair to cut them out of the system entirely, so they would either have chuubanite specific to their combination of chuubas with its own effect or a variety based on which chuubas are discussed most frequently with the standard effects for each.

thats it, everything else is of no importance. nasfaq uses it to make it harder to counterfeit their money, whoop de do, risu and meat uses it to make stuff grow faster, well thats useless in a setting that moves at the speed of plot. vrt uses it to make old stuff a bit more useful, that has had no relevancy so far either and can just as well be explained with having good craftsman specialised in that.

>> No.27429928

I know /nasa/'s rep gets a bad rap for over complicating things. I only had a few things in mind when I originally proposed chuubanite.

Chuubanite was based on Ragnite from Valkyria Chronicles. It was made with the idea that it can be used for fuel, medicine, and other chemicals. Chuubanite is made to bond with things because vTubers are suppose to bond with their audiences. Chuubanite can bond to things in nature to change how it interacts with things. You can extract vitubium which is the pure refined element in chuubanite. The idea of chuubaninte is that its suppose to be adaptable unknown magical element to fit any needs of any general that gives them a unique magical thing or technology. The exact science of how it works was never meant to be fully explained. The basics were there to give the mineral a start.

/nasa/ has its own way of handling chuubanite. And /risu/ has its own way of handling chuubanite. Both are valid ways of handling it. /nasa/ is only scientific with it because we're astronauts in a newly discovered alien world. /risu/ just make wands out of this stuff that bonds with the matter in pretty gems to make spells. /meat/ doesn't handle chuubanite directly. They eat chuubanite enriched foods to speed up the body's natural healing.

We don't have to explain every single process if its possible with real science because its still fantasy in the end.

you don't need to. as long as the method remains flexible, most of the ideas you can think of can be replicated with the magic system. leave the how to the autists or read the papers. also, the unrealistic parts of technology are supposed to be explained by chuubanite. if there are aspects of their technology that don't work, bring it up, as for the magic nations, risu is a good example of what can be done without any need for technology. instead of technology, they use gemstones, which have a conceptual importance instead of a technical one. also, the only reason it might be considered a failure to others is because they don't take the time to understand it because the votes and the disagreements overcomplicate an idea that has simple enough rules if we agreed on them.
>>27429000
that was literally one of the arguments i used to force my explanations into place instead of making it purposeless. i said "what if it only bonded with certain types of material that was uniquely common for those regions instead of saying the nation itself had some kind of impact on the magic realm" and they said "ok, but what about when boarders change?" and eventually the idea that it decayed faster outside of a nations regions due to the magic quanta being weaker there etc. was established. it's the vote that changed the interactions without thinking of how the physics worked, but us chuubanite autists adapted to it and made it make sense in accordance to the voting of people who didn't care to learn about it, and now it's more complex, so new people don't want to learn about it, so i refuse to oversimplify chuubanite just so idiots can force us to overcomplicate it to explain the votes in a physical sense.

Our factories were destroyed before entering orbit. We had to dislodge them from the station in order to survive the landing. This means that aside from basic hand tools /nasa/ does not have any manufacturing outside of processing food rations and medicine. Even then our powered hand tools are limited based on the scrap we can solder together. There's also only 5000 Sanalites. And only 3500 of them are healthy enough to work. Its a logistics nightmare in /nasa/. We'll have to build tools to build factories that build specialized tools to build more specialized factories until we reinvent the microprocessor to build robots for manufacturing. Not to mention /nasa/ is going to have to reinvent steam engines with coal until we can make machines that drill shale. Unless we get lucky to use chuubanite as a shortcut for power /nasa/ is stuck with pre-industrial revolution technology.

and its exactly shit like this and the constant hammering down of "anythign related to magic has to be always worse than the current technology" that i don't even want to truly try and come up with some cool stuff with chuubanite anymore and i just stopped caring anymore

lol, that idea is fucking retarded, and the explanation for why it was dismissed completely missed the point. hot weather balloons are shit. you are asking for a chuubanite that makes hot air balloons viable, hot air balloons are the method, flight is the ability. if you said you wanted chuubanite that makes something float, that could work, but you wanted chuubanite that makes a hot air balloon functional. hers an idea, chuubanite that makes something lighter. if /nasa/ can shift the fabric of space time, you can, too. it will cost a similarly high amount of chuubanite, but that is a simple drawback that can effectively keep it balanced while still giving you more opportunities for future development.
>magic can't be better than technology
when did anyone say that? most of our magic is technically magitec if you think about it, even risuners are using a technology, no matter how primitive it might seem, because we were able to explain how it worked. our magic is special science that adds variety to normal science, but it still works off of normal science when our special science doesn't apply, and that is good.

this has nothing to do with the magic system, i said that as long as he is flexible with the method, anything is possible, but he said he wanted chuubanite that would let him fly-with a hot air balloon that is viable as an option. think of it like this. if i said i could fly, maybe you might think i was refering to flying in an airplane, or with one of those gliding suits, but if i said i could fly with absolutely no external assistance, even without any word-play or genetic manipulation in the future or present, absolutely no assistance, a normal human, floating in the air, you'd think i were crazy, and with good reason.
the method is important. chuubanite can assist you in flight, but once you're flying, you'd need to explain what you do in the air and how it works. a hot air balloon has a lot of problems, it's a terrible idea that is outclassed by every other functional counterpart, but if you found something that connects them all, and made your chuubanite solve all of them by addressing that connection, that would be a clever use of chuubanite, but you have to be clever enough to see that connection. just because you aren't doesn't mean the magic system is bad. it's the classic case of "git gud or git filtered scrub".
>>27432611
it's retarded because we know enough about how it works to know it can't work. the purpose of the chuubanite is to make it less retarded, but it does so poorly. the starchild at least could make sense, whether or not it does depends on the technology they have over at /nasa/. sci-fi gives a bunch of theoretical explanations for random ideas, look at them if you want an explanation for any of the stuff they do, though they probably should pick one themselves to make sure everything works.

Chuubanite should be able to pull off a magic effect based on the complexity of the circuit. Circuits are instructions that tell chuubanite where to direct its energy. So for example: if you want to design a pair of chuubanite boots that make you jump 10 feet into the air and land safely without breaking your bones you can. You just need to create a wire of chuubanite in the boots' cloth or leather to tell the boot to shoot energy when jumping and absorb energy when landing. You can even charge up the boots' jump power by walking or even landing. To activate the boots to super-jump you kick your heels on both feet.

That's how I would use chuubanite: as equipment to let you pull off anime feats.

What if we repurpose chuubanite as a physical form of mana that magic imbued lifeforms can create, and have the magic lifeforms themselves be the source of magic, rather than a naturally occurring mineral.
We could have it so that people and other lifeforms are capable of using magic themed around their chuuba or thread concept, so that way magic isn't restricted to physical objects.
More tech focused nations would have few magic using individuals, while nature havens like /risu/ and /uuu/ would have populations with potentially all magic users, along with the plants and animals potentially being magical as well.
Naturally we'd have to make sure magical individuals aren't too powerful, so we probably don't want people shooting lasers (Or mayber we do?).

Anyway, my main desire is for magic to not come from rocks, but instead actual lifeforms. Magical rocks would still exist, but they'd instead be made by magic lifeforms, and not mined from the ground.

character flaws are interesting, especially when the character is able to surpass them, and achieve greatness despite their limitations. it is a tragic character that succumbs to their flaws and remains the lesser for it. you say i am the most disrespectful poster here, i suppose you discount your schizos who chase you around trying to ruin everything you hold dear just because they constantly misunderstand your blunt nature. i suppose you would seek to ruin what i hold dear as well for the same reason.
every criticism you are given, you respond with your admittedly formidable knowledge on military strategy. they cannot fight you on your grounds, lest their egos be shattered, so some of the pettier ones attack you personally, interpreting your knowledge and skill as you being an arrogant asshole who thinks too highly of himself and his vision to let others have a say in it, when in truth you are just responding to the way you know things should be according to the knowledge that they won't even try to refute.
please refute anything i have said thus far, else it would seem more likely to me that your criticism of me, which i figure is wholly based on the fool i responded to above, is yet another example of willful ignorance, combined now with, perhaps, a touch of hypocrisy. we are very much the same in the regards you choose to criticize me in, but here, unlike me i would imagine, you step into my criticisms, exemplifying the criticisms i gave to you instead of choosing to make an exception of them and be the better for it. please prove anything i have said here wrong.

I was thinking of a way to use chuubanite's basic kinetic energy properties in stopping projectiles. It would work similar to Mass Effect's shields. The armor would automatically target incoming projectiles and create a kinetic burst to stop the bullet. The armor can also stop a full shotgun blast but it takes a lot of energy. Chuubanite in shielded armor can be recharged simply by moving around or rattling the main circuit.

The armor does have weaknesses. The circuits are very basic. They can only stop one bullet incoming every six seconds or so. Also if you're shot by multiple shooters you're kinda fucked anyway. Also it takes a while for the armor to recharge energy. The armor could block one blunderbuss shot and run out of energy. So its not invincible. That said in an age of slow reloading firearms this is still an advantage. There are multi-chamber guns you have to worry about, but those are expensive and only usually used by the top brass.

One more thing I forgot to mention. The circuits can be woven into leather or cloth. Meaning this would be an extra layer of protection to standard uniforms. Cloth and leather are cheaper to produce than metal. So the shields would be useful with mobile units that need to run across the battlefield. The less weight the better.

They are small pellets that don't carry much energy.

alright giving it some thought here is a potential proposal that is still somewhat resembling the old system as to not have every nation needing to fully throw away what they had so far if they don't want to:

Alright here is my proposal for a new Chuubanite system:

Chuubanite is a magical mineral that can be mined in every nation that works as magical "fuel".
Magicians can either through incarnations(verbal, somatic ect) or through magic circles invoke the energy within this ore for magical effects.
For example:
Risuners could use this Chuubanite together with gems to continue having their witches cast gemmagic.
vrt can have craftsman that can invoke enhancement magic on items to strenghen the effects of them in one way or another based on emotional attachment of peopel in the item.
Meatheads can have Fleshscribes that can use Chuubanite based ink to create magic circles in the form of tattoos that can enhance their natural healing.

these are examples based on old uses of Chuubanites, but unlike before it is not some innate characteristic of the Chuubanite that dictates the effect but the knowledge of the caster. This would for example allow a nation to develop more than one use of Chuubanite overall as well as evolution of magic based on understanding and experimentation of a nations magicians.

It would also allow a more freely use of magic that can more strongly differ from the general usage of magic of a nation.
For example: Risuners could use it in alchemy to brew potions that enhances a person's stamina. even if that got nothing to do with gemmagic.

Chuubanite would still degrade over time but this would be simply based on Chuubanite being exposed from the spots they naturally gather and happen at the sam erate regardless where in the world it is being brought. It would also degrade at an accelerated rate when actively used.
For example: Someone using Chuubanite to invoke a Fireball to throw might instantly deplete a handpalm sized piece of Chuubanite making it useless for magic from thereone.
while found all over the world in each nation it is still rare enough to not be in abundance and just be readily available to use in a near infinite manner and should instead still be considered something special.

While this might be similar to the old way of Chuubanite i feel the changes make its explanation to new people as well as its usage overall more easy and streamlined as well as actually opening it up for usage in more fantastical ways without having to worry if the usage of it is "the correct method" for the desired effect.

just wanted to check this first if you guys got any ideas for improving upon it or if you are strictly against it

that should still be applieable, in theorie you could even have certain hotspots that gather into crystals out in the open or where you could store a Chuubanite based tool to have it recharge over time.

A magical Rod that the Risuner witches use to bless their forest once a year and then afterwards they put it back into its palce to have it recharge for the coming year

this could also be used to have a floating island for a city where the core of the island is a large chunk of Chuubanite that has been invoked to float there and that spot gathers just enough magical energy to have it recharge at the right rate to not deplete but if the island would be tried to move away via some propelling method it would deplete and come crushing down.

Aight, here are my 2 cents on the matter of Chuubanite, and the rules I have been currently following myself for my writing.

>Chuubanite
Is rock.
Found basically everywhere.
In it's natural, raw state, it basically just stores energy, like heat or kinetic energy.
Has a unique reaction when exposed to sentient beings AKA us.

>You sexy bitches
Are meat.
Have something akin to a soul.
This soul is a little pipeline connecting you to the "higher plane" AKA where the Chuubas reside.
Through this pipeline, raw "Chuubanite energy" constantly flows.
With your belief into a Chuuba, this raw substance gains an allegiance to it, making it do weird magicky shit.
This effect is extremely small, affecting just your meat suit, but can be amplified to affect the space around you with Chuubanite the rock.

>So we end up with
Simple raw chuubanite that can be used for special lifeforms aside from us.
A person can always use the chuubanite of a select Chuuba, since only belief in that specific chuuba is required to allign the energy. Attaining enough belief to actually do something is the main hurdle though.
No need for weird, and retarded, weakening of chuubanite when you cross your borders, since you carry the main component with you at all times.
Idk, some other things probably, but I just woke up and my brain is still a littel fucked up, I need to get a cup of tea in me.

when i said fantastical i did not mean it in a way that now every nation has a magic division in their army that can shoot lightning bolts and throw fireballs at a whim.

first of all the overall ban on superweapons still applies even inr egards to amgic as well as other over the top stuff like dimensional rifts ect.

second the immediate depletion of Chuubanite when used for bursts of magic as well as the need for inkarnations is suppsoed to make the overall usage of offensive magic balanced and not as easy to pull off.

what i mean with fantastical is stuff that just inherintly feels more "magic"

i'll take your responce as you saying you are ok with me responding a bit. well, i said the idea was retarded, not the person. hot air balloons are structurally flawed, as in the design just wouldn't work, especially given the fact that there are far more efficient methods that are, by design, superior in almost every way. take a helicopter for example, since a normal plane technically can't hover around like a sitting duck as well as a hot air balloon. it's faster, it's more maneuverable, it requires less resources, it's less easily exploitable (see the giant fire bombs over london. no wait, those were zeplins full of people, my bad), by every metric a hot air balloon is retarded because the design is inherently inferior.
alternatively, take an easier to explain concept. solar vs nuclear. solar comes from a giant nuclear furnace, except you aren't gaining the nuclear energy made by the giant nuclear furnace, you are getting the errant radiation that is emitted in all directions by that giant nuclear furnace after x distance traveled through space, and, if applicable, after being reflected by whatever happens to be in it's way (see albedo). even with a dison sphere, considering the sheer size, cost, complexity, and return, you are getting the short end of the deal. if you had the same amount of mass required for a dison sphere in nuclear reactors, you would be gaining the power of nuclear first-hand instead of second hand.
by design, it is inherently superior, so i describe it as a retarded design. the person who made the idea i'm sure is much smarter, especially if, as i think might bave been the case with the maker of the hot air balloon, the creator recognized their creation as a failure after the fact and seeks to make improvements or focus on a different subject that they are more inspired to work in.
i'd say people have a tendency to mistake the philosophical for the personal, so to speak. if i call someone an insult, i mean it descriptively, even when i am trying to be rude, though usually i am just trying to describe some aspect of their argument or idea that i have disagreement with in a simple, accurate, and efficient way. i get that people can be put off by the words that i say, but i am autistic, so i can't find an easy way to convey the idea that doesn't put them off, so i rely on people like you to see past it and only focus on the logic, because that's the area i know how to explain.
it's been a problem all my life so far, and it will probably be a problem for all my life to come, but it's not too bad if i can get others to look past it, which might be why i have a hard time respecting people who make decisions and arguments based on how they feel, and willingly choose to not understand the things they are making decisions on, or arguing for on the basis of those feelings. it just doesn't seem like a respectable thing to do, and it's especially hard for me to deal with due to my limitations.

where the invoker of the magic does need some belief in the respective chuuba or a certain aspect of several chuubas

so a sapling with his belief in fauna could produce all kinds of druidic magic but probably never convoke a fireball

this would overall link Chuubanite more to Chuubas, it would need to be some passive side of the chuubas and not active will of them as to make sure that in situations of 2 sides that beleif in the same chuuba ther is no question of if the magic should active or not, as it would always do that

I get it. I'm an actual diagnosed sociopath with no natural empathy, how to read other people and navigate social situations is a skill I've had to actively learn. This is part of why I got so into literature and the intricacies of writing multi-faceted characters. It was interesting to examine a completely normal human behavior that I just did not at all understand on a personal level. I agree with you that people have a tendency to mistake the philosophical for the personal, but the way you phrase things inherently makes some of your statements personal. I don't think anyone expects you to suddenly change who you fundamentally are as a person. But communication is a two-way street. If you want people to adjust to you and your quirks, you have to make an effort to meet them in the middle. You can't put the entire onious of successful communication on your conversational partner, especially when those partners are strangers on the internet who may have never spoken to you before and don't understand a single thing about you. Take Pomerlane anon, who also started a shit ton of fights when he first came in here because of the way he tended to phrase things. He's made a conscious effort to be better, and outside of his dedicated schizos he isn't misunderstood as often anymore.

To be perfectly honest, I think you're plenty capable of holding civilized discussions. Most anons here would not be bothered by purely facts-based debates. The main issue you have is your excessive use of insults. If you just took a moment to remove insults from your posts before you actually posted them, I think that would already go a long way to making you sound less abrasive.
