I think you do understand Fluff, in the platonic ideal sense of being about Warm and Fluffy Feelings but run into a brick wall called 'storytelling principles'. Because your fluff fics are rather pointless and lacking in a 'conflict' to guide it, (and by conflict I mean it in the same way your Literature teacher would describe the concept). Which basically causes the fic to collapse under its own weight of words due to not having it be interesting.
Your 'eggs in a basket' fic basically embody this due to them not really having a plot to tie together the feelings. Causing it to fall flat as the things it want to land won't really reach the viewer, like a smut fic with badly written smut and without a good fantasy presented in it.

I'm not sure why I didn't use Fauna to be honest. I just thought SuiSora was a cute ship and decided to go for it and thankfully it seemed to work out.

I do quite often, yeah. I've been trying to get away from it because I know a common critique is that my characters aren't what the holos are really like. Sui-tan definitely has a lot of "me" in there.

You know how you, the author, specifically structure your fics around a specific joke; well imagine instead of structuring it around a joke it's structured around the main driving conflict of that story. Yeah... the best stories come from experience and I am unfortunate enough to have ample experience to tell stories like Sakura Summer and worse. I've had ideas for stories containing worse material (Nonsense Speaker may be such a story, if I ever come up with the bravery to continue it), but I'm not sure how people will take stories like that. I know we've had some pretty intense stories but it's... bad. And I don't just want to subject others to my thinly veiled trauma dumping.

Either way, I've enjoyed writing BBD for everyone. It's been nice to write such a sugary sweet story compared to what my usual work is. I'll definitely write more like this in future, perhaps one with Fauna or another oshi if people prefer.

A lot of things, but right now I can see myself steadily improving at character arcs.I won't spoil it, but I had a recently introduced antagonistic (who will become the main antagonist) and I was going to write her having a sweet, heartfelt moment with another character. It's stuff like that that never occurred to me prior to gaining experience writing here. Sure that's small and a bit obvious but that's me growing as an author. I'm starting to learn to save the punch for when it'll have the hardest impact.

For storywriting in general it's a good to come up with some kind of rough outline for the story, beginning/middle/the end, so you have an idea where you're heading. You should also think about what you want your reader to get out of the story and how do you achieve it best. If you want to dive deeper I recommend Lajos Egri's The Art of Dramatic writing, but honestly I recommend focusing on just having fun with writing before you go ball deep into textbooks. The only parts I find lacking are the interactions with Mio‘s husband. It feels like we‘ve had the exact same scenario

Also, the perspective change at the end felt a bit forced, like a means to set up the inherent snapping of Mio’s husband - but you are free to prove me otherwise.

I do take the comments about Mio's husband at heart, thought. Looking at him from the outside he's a dick for the sake of being a dick, he was supposed to be a deadbeat husband who didn't make Mio happy, while in his life he has his own stuff going on that made him prone to his way of being. Then again, I never went too deep into him as a character. He was cheating on Mio from chapter one and set up a bunch of stuff that point at him being a dick.

As for the interactions in bed, the purpose they served was to show an inner change in Mio, as the first time she gets out of it by lying, and now she downright refuses him without explaining why.

As for the ending, I thought it was implied that he had been frecuenting those kind of spots regularly, but that only shows me I failed at portraying it in a subtle way. That's on me and I apprecciate your comments.

Next chapter might take longer than these, thought, since what comes next was meant to be Ch.5 originally and the ending of the series, but now I want it to be a bridge between the past and the future, between drama and wholesome family interactions. How I'm gonna get there maintaining some degree of quality is the real question, I do feel I wrote myself into a corner here, but alas said "fuck it" and just went with it. My storytelling will improve with time.

Chapter 2! I said I'd work on other stories first, but had some bouts of inspiration recently to work on this now that the season is over (for me). It's a slow start but just a bit of worldbuilding, I guess.

Honestly while it's a good transition chapter, I think you should have let it sit in the oven for a while longer because it's a bit short and there's not a whole lot I can say about it. Though I was pretty fucking hyped when I read the line: “Sounds like what you need is something that can be upgraded". I can just imagine all the customisation stuff you're going to add into the story and how you'll improve your ride to go faster.
All in all a good mini chapter that was necessary, but could have been stuck onto a main chapter or something. Eagerly looking forward to the next instalment.

I agree with the other anon here, this chapter works for being transitionary but it could easily have been stitched onto another chapter without problem... though thinking about it I guess having a structure that supports not having a chuuba race every chapter would be good for the 'health' of the fic since it would make it so that you aren't forced to throw one out as a monster of the week every chapter to keep formula.

Ah, yeah that's totally a fair assessment, I don't disagree that it should have been part of a larger chapter and I know exactly what should have been attached to it... but I wanted to get it out of my system while I was highly motivated instead of letting it simmer in the pile of half-finished WIPs.
