Present day and 1940s are sort of plain in terms of any fights - getting torn to swiss cheese by fully automatic weapons is the ultimate outcome. Present day is the easiest to write, though.
1910s and lower are much more restrained in terms of weapons but the characters have much more control over the outcome of a given fair fight. War is still considered "honourable".

Thanks, I was constantly switching settings and re-doing what little I had of my story over and over because I couldn't decide on what time period I wanted it to be. I guess I can at least rule out present day. There's a lot more context to the story and what it's about which will affect the combat, but I just wanted to see what everyone would think purely about the setting.

Gosling is good, it means you have a horse in the race. Aside from some grammar things, I like a lot about this, but it feels a bit like we have some set up, then immediately skip to the climax and falling action. There's too much tell with the backstory for a single scene, and not enough show for a full story, if that makes any sense. For example, the last half of the story as it's paced is good (as an ending), but it leaves it feeling lopsided.

What would serve this beautifully is communicating all that conflict through a more in-depth conversation, and avoiding a lot of the backstory altogether in favor of more meat in the resolution.

Need more sadism in stories. Enjoying watching the people you love hurt is patrician-tier taste.

First mission I played with my buddy was some sort of conjoined crack house. I don't know what the fuck was going on in there but they were fucking tweaking off the shit from Max Payne, I swear. A tweaker silently ran up to me and stabbed me in the spine which was very fucking jarring, but in the attic were some dudes in full trash bags from head to toe shambling around with knives. Sorry I'm late, but I wanted to give a series overview for to be 17 again for AA.

As time goes on, Mio's situation would start to take a toll on her mental health that would cause her to underperform as an idol and Cover would fix that by assigning her a talent manager. Little did Mio know, this would cause her life to take a drastic turn, and this manager was going to be more than she bargained for.

As for the next chapter, it's halfway done. The story took a different turn, so what was going to be the end with chapter 5 will turn into a future chapter. My exam season in uni began this week, by the second week of July I should be done, so, depending on how everything goes, I'll bring you the next chapter before that.
