Yes, and efforts to prevent cross-contamination must also be taken very seriously. It was mentioned that the mushroom can only spread orally so of course there's no problem simply grabbing the mushrooms, but touch anything before washing your hands and now there are dormant spores everywhere. For crops outside the greenhouse we have mostly typical staple cold European crops. Snow peas, carrots, kale, brocolli, etc. I had a post of nuts but forgot to archive. Nuts are mostly cold climate nuts like walnuts, chestnuts, heartnuts, etc. For fruits we have snownerries, an alien plant, blackberries, and whatever fruits we can grow in the greenhouses (apples, pears, oranges,). Inside the greenhouse we have most crops found in typical grocery stores since they're engineered to perfection. For grains we have mostly wheat outside. We do have other grains inside. However we don't produce as much of those as wheat. Which is why most of our alcohols are wheat beers.

Obviously bread is a very sacred food in /nasa/. Every Sanalite is required to know how to bake bread to live in NASA. Also we use ground sugar beets for sugar instead of sugarcane. For meat we just now started raising chickens and cattle traded from other countries. The KFP mountain chickens make their home here. And the fuzzy highland cows from /rrat/ can tolerate the cold better than others. We thought about yaks, but yaks need high altitudes. Wild game is nice with elk, caribou, birds, and other abundant snowy game. We're prospecting the wetlands and rivers to see if we can catch edible fish. There are woolly mammoths. As much as we would like to hunt them the schizos drove them to near extinction. So they're protected. Do not hunt mammoths.

You're lucky to get this, I'm sending this along with my report to the Admiralcy, I guess you can figure out how much fun I'm having based on how much of the letter you get gets expunged!

So, we spent some time in the Hooman Republic, which was a ton of fun. I totally want to take you some day, I bet by the time I get around to that they'll take tourists on those hot-air balloon rides, that was *amazing*. I know how much you like hiking, but having all that... Empty just below you, it's totally different from standing on the top of a mountain, you gotta try it.

Anyway, we did some other stuff there, it really felt more like being a part of a tourist group with really excited and hormonal school kids... Oh, those tree rrats are a handful. They're fun to have around, but it's work, I gotta be honest. Still, compared to being sent off in the Nijisea to hunt pirate bounties this is basically a vacation.

Oh, there was that one Hooman,he was called Rémy... A real cutie, I think you'd like him. He's not so tall compared to our brother, but he was really well-built, and so thoughtful and intelligent. Heh, him and Desuvius really, really didn't get along, it was funny. Well, anyway, if you're wondering, he kinda kept his distances, being professional and all that, nothing happened... I think we'll see him again on the way back.

So, long story short, the squirrels managed to get through the Republic without getting stabbed more than once, which is honestly a decent result. We continued on toward the sapling forests and ho-ly Mori, I mean you know that's why I'm here, but what a fascinating place. The leader of the Risuner group meeting with the saplings, Hamdani, she's really nice, hot as hell too, but pretty single minded. Well, that's almsot a racial trait ain't it? Say it with me, "gems and nuts" hahaha. Well to be fair to her, she seems to also be interested in the forest's magic chuubanitic effects as well, but for now she's more worried about looking into the Sapling's food and nuts (both kinds) than that. Not I, I wanna know more about those Saplings!

So the big thing I found it that their chuubanite has an affinity for plant life. I mean, fucking duh, right? But it's confirmed now, I planted my tester nails into the dirt, a beetle I grabbed, some sand, water, a tree, grass, an apple, and the flora is definitely where it accumulates, but there's also plenty of it everywhere. We're still quite far out near the edges of the forest, apparently the concentrations ramp up quickly as you go deeper, similar to the Underworld's chuubanitic gradient. I think we'll probably end up going a bit deeper before we leave, but Sapling chuubanite reportedly acts a lot quicker than ours, almost impossibly so. The psychoactive effects are very light compared to Mori-type chuubanite, but the physiological effects are pronounced. We've been wearing our Death Masks constantly, and the Hoomans gave use lead amulets that are helping too. We expected this, so we packed low-con Masks for this mission, and I think they're helping, but based on the measurements I'm getting, they'd probably get overwhelmed if we went too far into the forest.

Ahh I'm rambling, anyway what I was saying is that the Sapling process seems too quick to be only the body responding to the chuubanite, like with us Deadbeats. It's more like, the chuubanite changes something in the body, do you know what I mean? And it's a huge change too. Those saplings, they're not just looking like plants, as far as I can tell that's genuine chloroplasts in their leaves, I grabbed one that fell from one of their antlers and put it in my herbarium, I'll have to look at it under the Academy's microscope once I'm back, or maybe I can use one from a Hooman university. So, that's kinda crazy, right? A whole-ass different life kingdom. It's kind of the ultimate denial-of-area defense, unless someone built a fully chuubanite-proof suit, and I don't see how to do that without a solid shell of gold all over yourself, or something ridiculous like that. The good thing is that it's a localized phenomenon, so I don't think they can weaponize it. And I don't think they'd want to! Those saplings have been quite nice so far. I'm just hoping that sexy Risuner bitch doesn't test them too hard.

The other thing I wanna do is quantify how much growth assistance this local chuubanite provides. Risuner chuubanite is pretty powerful in that regard. I'm a bit scared of cutting any trees, wouldn't wanna chop off someone's dad, but the Hoomans told me cutting down tree is done occasionnally, so I'm hoping I can find some stumps like that to establish tree-ring number to trunk diameter trends, I've got all my results from my research in the Risuner lands so I'll be able to make direct comparisons.

Sooo yeah, you can't really send me a message where I am, but if you send any letters to Captain Gustus through the Hooman Republic's Moriji embassy, I'll be able to read them when I get back! Well, that's if Hamdani doesn't get us in trouble I can't get us out of.

Thanks for the criticism, but I want to try to address something.
1. Just because there is in fighting and things aren't going the way for the allies doesn't mean it is a clear victory.
2. I guess I will have to spoil; the Dragoons are going to have major success soon.
3. One major victory isn't going to end the war. There are a lot of enemies on all fronts and even if Schwarzbach is a rout; that's one army beaten. 4 remain as well as reserves and reinforcements.

First I REEEd at Warhammer 40k references. Then he ignored the other Sanalite's ideas to write pointless lore for saving the Starchild he stole. The other Sanalite rage quits /nasa/ because of it. I decide to end the civil war arc with a boring bad ending because there was no justification for the lock down. This was also something the other Sanalite was trying to writing to end after I suppose to remove myself from the civil war arch. From one action to another this caused both myself and the other Sanalite to discard writing. The other problem is there was a lot of ideas I had planned but in the end I could never get them to fit in the civil war arc. I wound up building things on things trying to justify the lock down. And that was a mistake. You do not write lore based on stories. You write stories based on lore. Because there was no logical justification for the lock down in the end by either of us I was left with one conclusion. This arc has to end with the principal resigning and losing his citizenship. You don't simply ruin the spring crop and cause ten thousands in fuel credits of manufacturing damage and get off scott free. It may have been a disappointing end, but it was the ending that made the most logical sense. I'm just trying to figure out what I can do to never make this writing mistake ever again. In the end it might just be with the fundamental problems with how /nasa/ lore was written. Which will be my fault if so. That's also why I ancored the disclaimer: "Anything not archived nor anchored in /nasa/'s lore is non-canon."

I still have some other things to write. There's still that /uuu/-/nasa/ encounter story I have to finish. Just waiting on Saplings to continue.

So far outside of the civil war arc /nasa/ has a fairly solid foundation. I still think the lore can be salvaged. However /nasa/ needs mythology and legends. Problem with that is I don't think /nasa/'s current lore allows that. The original idea is that /nasa/ crash landed on this planet with 60% of the station/ship destroyed and we have to figure out how to rebuild. The civil war arc happened because the Principal got cock blocked on his trade deals to other nations because council disagreed with him on the Grand Directive. The principal knows he does not have the manpower to wage offensive war for resources. That's why he tried trade. So Principal forced everyone outside the station to get fresh air for better or worse. In a way the civil war arc became just another set back for /nasa/ with very little progress made. Its still a historical moment. Sanalites for two and a half months had to live without the station. Problem is Sanalites are like zoomers addicted to modern technology. So lock downs backfired.

Anyway new stories can be written. Alex Jason Steele is going to better serve Sana mining for iron instead of shuffling papers. So stories will now happen outside the station instead of inside.

I can give you a rundown on how he would:
Desuvius is very intelligent in some ways, being a trained engineer is a variety of disciplines, so he'll probably be less confused than the average Vitubian by the Sanallite technology. Knowing more about what goes into it, he would probably be even more impressed and enthusiastic about it though. He's very intelligent, but he's a bit blunt and can be accidentally rude at times, he's not the most tactful. He is confident in the might of the Black Fleet, and believes that even with their overwhelming technological advantage, the Sanallites probably don't want to risk entering hostile relations with it in their current condition.
Also, Desuvius and his men are veterans of some wars Moriji has been involved in.
