I had a lot of fun today, also sort of still proud of the thing i made. It's one of the few times i was genuinely feeling like i accomplished something even if it was low effort and easy to do. a friend that i've made over vtubing who i've been good friends with for a while now is going on hiatus for ~3 months (until september) and i've been kinda down in the dumps since he's one of the people i look up to in streaming. i'm worried we might drift apart because of this and i hope we don't, since the guy is unironically really nice to me (even though there are times when i feel underappreciated, but i'd attribute that more to my own overthinking and autism). he's been a little bit on the decline so that might be the reason, but it seems like it's mostly IRL stuff that's bothering him.
i've been doing good progress with streaming, averaging 15-20 CCV per stream without having to be raided. this is good and i want to get an ASMR mic soon to expand my reach, but part of me just wants to have a friend i can talk to on the regular about whatever things i can think of. i can occasionally be clingy, but i just want to have somebody to lean against in a huge, saturated community like this. however, i'm also retarded and can be hugely selective with friends because i can't really give everyone the same level of emotional investment, but eugh... im so torn

I talked about this on my stream today, maybe this will help you. Friendships involve two people, it's the sum of what both are willing to put in. If you feel like he's not giving you enough, but you still like hanging out or interacting i wouldn't try to get rid of him or even get angry. Friendships shouldn't be built on obligations they should only be a positive bond between two people. If you need someone that gives you more than what you currently get, maybe your best choice is to look elsewhere. I know it's difficult, but if you see anyone you feel like you could get along with you can reach out to them.

Don't go into it thinking you need to land a hit right away. If you look for emotional support, it's something that every single person has only a finite amount to give and it's usually allocated across the people they already know. But in a few cases there's people like you who are afraid to reach out or wait for an opportunity to get invested into someone like that. Maybe that includes your friend too but he isn't sure it's what you want because you aren't communicating well (this is just conjecture on my part). The most important part is to be honest and upfront. Say what you want and be forward with it. Sometimes it's better laying your cards on the table so other people know what hand they are dealing with rather than have both parties tap in the dark and potentially never find each other emotionally.

Also consider if what you are looking for isn't more akin to what people would call a relationship or generally something more intimate.

tl;dr if not already done, open up to your friend about your thoughts and if he doesn't feel comfortable giving you what you want, just stay friends as you have been and try to reach out to other people. Hope you can find the special somebody you are looking for...

One thing to note is that the reason he's seen zero growth is because he does basically zero networking, zero collabs, and I believe can't even be raided nor does he raid. He's got everything turned off and curates an extremely tight community and his mods are RIDICULOUSLY ban happy. I'm an artist and I commission other artists because I love art and I know that everyone loves art. More art for everyone, everyone wins! Some people in the thread said I had potential before, but I just don't have the drive and motivation to grow and take this seriously like the other aspies.
I don't even have a schedule, and always being sick doesn't help.
Connecting with other aspies is difficult, since my young and sheltered ass don't know what they're talking about half the time.
I'm too scared to even shill since my streams have been very scuffed recently.
At the very least, streaming is fun and I have a few non /here/ regulars who drop by sometimes to chat, despite my streams being exclusively guerilla. My stupid brainrot is telling me they're just pity viewers but I hope that's not true.
