I used to work at a zoo and have seen these things up close for years. Bushbabies are pack animals and require a lot of social stimulation. They are in constant need of physical contact, especially grooming, playing with, and chasing each other. Keeping a single one by itself is cruel and anyone who spent time around social animals know that they get extremely depressed and lethargic when they don't receive interaction with others of their own kind. It's disappointing that Pekora decided to get one as a pet and I wish she did more research beforehand.

Not just Japan, but all of East Asia in general. One of the most disturbing things I witnessed in my life was at the Zoo Negara near Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. There I witnessed an otter enclosure that appeared just to be a cage containing a pool of festering, shit-coloured water that the approximately 30 otters had to share among each other. The cries I heard from that cage still haunt me to this day - about 10 to 15 of them at a time pushed their little paws to the front of the cage and just wailed continuously as if they were pleading to me to free them from their misery. It was shocking to see the absolute state of that as I had never seen anything remotely as horrible in any zoo I'd been to in either Europe or America.
