The code didn't work for me, so I'll post here instead:

"Ah, so that is your objection." Quenti paused for a brief moment before continuing with his calm tone, as if the answer had been prepared and recited numerous times. "A common belief, regrettably. While morality is ultimately a matter of personal belief, if I may, I would still recommend ma'am Amanda to reconsider it."

"While we might have a... certain reputation among the people of the world, I can assure you that every piece of meat served on our plates come from someone willingly offering them. I wouldn't dare to bore you with details, but our establishment insists upon serving only the highest class of meat we can obtain. As such, every one of our sources of meat is treated well - perhaps even better than many commoners - before they're processed." Quenti glanced briefly to the windows leading to the outside world, as if gesturing towards it silently. "And in exchange, we make full use of what they offered us for our esteemed customers. Ultimately, it's no more immoral than, say, people benefitting from their ancestors' sacrifice. In fact, I wager our kitchens likely spilt less unwilling blood than many such cases."

Other Sanallite here, just adding to the whole language bit.

We have extremely advanced AI in language department, so if a meeting with basically any species on Vitubia took place at Lamington, where the main AI can connect to our suits, it would take about 30 min of conversation before we could talk with you without much, if any, issue.

As the /uuu/ meeting is taking place outside of effective range of Cassandra(the AI), translations and decryption of your language would be a lot slower. We have a simpler version of Cass installed in our suits for moments like these, so eventually we would still be able to converse, it might just take multiple hours or even days, depending on the complexity of your language.

As for you, you would have a clear understanding of Hooman language already, right? Since most (or all? Are there Saplings that aren't transformed from other species? If not, you would basically all be former Hooman, right?) of you would be Hoomans before the forest took over, right? And we had plenty of contact with them, so communication in their language would be no problem, but I still insist that you make attempts to communicate in your own language. It might do little more than confuse us for a moment, but eventually we would want to get your language in our databanks anyway, so might as well start as soon as we can. And we can always fall back on Hoomanic?(I need to do my /who/ reps, do they have a name for their language?) for important things.

Cass is okay with quick translations on the spot. However languages still need to be studied in depth in order to create an accurately translated lexicon and database. When we have our diplomatic issues settled (implying things go well) then Saplings will be free to visit /nasa/. If Saplings cannot physically leave the forest then what we can do to speed up the translation process is bring equipment with us. Equipment is a computer server, a microphone, and a few cameras. Accurate translations need to read body language as much as the voice of the native speaker to determine the context of the language spoken.

When speaking with Hoomans about the bakery deal Sanalites had an excellent opportunity to study that sample of Hooman language, which streamlined AI's process in deciphering the language in depth. We're not close to native speaking translations yet. However translations are at an almost tour-guide level where contracts and treaties between Hoomans are no problem. While the language is mostly AI generated there's still some errors within the language that still need to be sorted out by human hands. That said Hooman translation is still rough because of the lock downs. But its a language we can speak confidently. Most of the time.

Ok im finally fucking home and lets see what I need to discuss. For the nasfaqg bois we will settle with pinisi for now as we always have. Eventually we will want different types of boats but pinisi are the trademark boat of /risu/ and the only one they know how to use. Should the need arise then I will get different boat designs. The cannons will be necessary on just 1 ship. Risuners are sending a greeting expedition not a war party so they don't want to seem threatening. However it's always nice to have backup of course.

As for /morig/. They operate on Silvanus while /nasfaqg/ operate on Sabatangan so there won't be too much overlapping? IDK but yes /morig/ is our primary partner for lots of shit we just see /nasfaqg/ as a very fast and short term way to get stuff done.

>Risuners are sending a greeting expedition not a war party so they don't want to seem threatening.
To be fair, during that time period, ships that travelled in potentially dangerous waters don't usually differentiate between them much. It's pretty common for merchant ships (which often double as passenger ships for people who don't have their own private ships) to be armed even if they're not designed as warships. In fact, it was not uncommon for civilian ships to put fake cannons on them to make them more threatening to deter potential pirates (without spending the money and load for actual cannons).

Sanalites by now should be aware of Risuner's plan to visit us. We're in talks with where the Risuner ship should arrive. The good news is that it is summer time. So there is always a little sunlight. Nights still get pretty cold though. And Risuners will still be traveling mostly on foot no matter where they land. At best what /nasa/ can do is decide upon a meeting spot and bring supplies. /nasa/ has electric space blankets and weatherproof space tents with heaters that can keep Risuners warm. We have plenty of rations that you can cook with just clean water. Though if Risuners need meat then we'll have to go hunting for it. We can provide water filters that you can pour swamp water in to purify it. Though we still recommend boiling the water before filtering it to kill bacteria and other microbes. We'll also have first-aid and trauma kits in case of harm or injury.

/nasa/ has been looking for an excuse to put together an expedition team to hike to the coast. If we're going to build a ship yard then we need to scout a road to the coast to deliver materials from the station to build it. So wherever Risuners decide to land or to take the hike through /uuu/, /nasa/ will be prepared to meet you there. Hopefully nothing goes wrong.

With /risu/ being in such a (hypothetically) strategic location then why did no one build a road leading from north to south? And with trade going through /risu/ they should be moderately wealthy, developed, and have some decent knowledge of the world. My head canon is that /risu/'s forest regrows so fast and is so hard to navigate all attempts to develop it before failed. It only became viable with modern tools and the willing, proactive cooperation of the risuners, with them wanting to see the world and such after basically being isolated for so long.

Jokes aside, /meat/heads do make use of ranged weapon skills (although somewhat different from risuners), and it might actually be fairly helpful in terms of naval combat as well (at least when it comes to fighting against pirates). We're cleaning and testing our reconstructed weapons. We have railguns online, but they need to be directly wired to the station to work. Railguns will be used exclusively as long-range weapons. We still need to develop a new engine for CR-USTs using chuubanite since making gas engines is no longer an option. The buggies can be used as combat transport vehicles, but they'll need to be fortified with armor to survive a musket or bullet. Defense against flamethrowers is fairly simple. Out range and out gun your enemy before they get close to you. Repairing machine guns is simple enough, but we still need factories to make the precise parts. Full auto rotating Gatling guns are out of the question but they would be overkill for this age. KN1F-Es are a solid CQC option, but F0R-Ks are essential for melee. F0R-Ks are long spears that have reach beyond a typical bayonet musket. Also the shaft of a F0R-K is lightweight steel. So the shaft can absorb the blow of a longsword. KN1F-Es are balanced enough that both the blade and the hilt can be swung. KN1F-Es are glaives that can be swung like Naginatas.

Every Sanalite is armed with a CR01-SS4NT pistol. Pistols have high capacity magazines that hold up to 30 shots. They are mostly light weight and very accurate. Their power is comparable to a Desert Eagle. B4-GUE-TEs are assault rifles that have single shot, semi-auto, and full-auto modes. BUNs are grenades with both timer and proximity detonation modes. They're deadly at 15 meters. Leathal at 5. BUNs can easily be thrown behind cover or in trenches. This is just the basic arsenal.

Sanalites do have some other military grade weapons that need testing. Shields, machine guns, laser guided rocket launchers, etc. Sanalites also have some boarding gear like grappling hooks with metal cables that can't be cut with conventional axes, Plasma cutting torches that can cut 50 centimeters into solid metal, flare guns that are both used for signals and setting fire to things, booster jetpacks that help launch us with a high jump, and a few other fun stuff.

Orbiter colonies are absolute shit at mobility. Their purpose is to serve as supply depos to the rest of the fleet that protect them. We're better off building actual space carriers. Even then we need to get to space first. At best we can build helicopters and airplanes on the ground for quick aerial transport.

It's the implication of the mass production of gems. if /risu/'s gems are indistinguishable from natural ones it would absolutely crash the market. The self-destruction mechanism is nuclear fission. We reverse the fusion core to split atoms, causing a chain reaction collapsing the core and taking out the entire station and everything around it. Self-destruct is only used when the station is lost and the enemy fleet is surrounding us.

>>26456920
I think Hoomans would get more satisfaction out of developing their own technologies alongside us than have us give our tech to them. Our tech is separated by a full and a quarter millennium. There's a lot of fundamentals of the technology that needs to be understood. To be honest /nasa/ is rediscovering many lost technologies from your current time period. We know how to make factories but we've forgotten how to build factories with hand tools for example. And the assembly line will only work if you have all of the people and machines synchronized in perfect order. So we're rediscovering the logistics of the assembly line without computers and artificial intelligence. Kronies have taught us that their clockwork is custom made by individual clockwork makers with no standards for parts. A part made by hand from one person will always be slightly different every time due to human error.

So, just for the record, you don't need to change anything, doing your trade through /risu/ it's fine, it's great actually, because it lets /vrt/ be active in the region of the world with a lot of active generals, makes interactions easier, and all that good stuff.
However, I feel a irrepressible need to explain that because a ship moves through water with a low coefficient of friction and is propelled by free energy, wind, and can be structurally supported by hydrostatic pressure, removing the requirement for complex suspensions and wheels, it is more efficient and faster to transport large amounts of cargo with ships by orders of magnitude. Even just a short stint having to move all that cargo with carts and carriages would increase the cost tremendously. The only way to compete would be if the /inf/ trains had happened.
Okay, rant done, feel free to ignore. I just had to get this out.

The problem with a primitive society obtaining space-age technology is their lack of fully understanding the technology. The Romans for example are rumored to have concrete that works underwater. While we did eventually pick up the concrete recipe from the Romans it took us many years to figure out how it works exactly. And even to this day we still can't make concrete work underwater the way the Romans did it. So what if Hoomans snatched themselves a Tesla coil at this age now. You guys wouldn't now how it works, why it works, or understand the science and math used to invent the coil and its parts. Even then Hoomans would probably take shortcuts with reverse engineering the coil, which misses half of the research, breakthroughs, and failures Tesla himself went through inventing the coil. Its the difference between doing your own homework and copying someone else.

I actually wanted to bounce the idea of /ggg/ chuubanite making it possible for underwater flora to grow above ground or something, creating a unique coral reef biome all over /ggg/, similar to Coral Highlands from MHW, so they would have some surface area, and then a big chunk of what is currently /ggg/ on the map would actually be underwater, where more aquatic tribes would live, so the actual border of /ggg/ would be an everchanging thing as the coral reefs grow and collapse.

And as for the claiming the oceans thing, they themselves couldn't survive for long outside their own coral reefs, as open oceans aren't exactly known for large stores of food, so good luck to them if they want to keep watch over everything.

corals are actually fauna who basically build their own shells with the same stuff as limestone
The issue of living in deep sea is that those places are basically desolate desert with virtually no oxygen and/or food, so a hypothetical aquatic society in open sea will have to stick close to the surface, perhaps with some kind of gigantic floating plants of sorts. It actually sounds kind of cool when you think about it, it's kind of an organic, upside-down city made of kelp and seaweed, maybe with some artificial bubble-like structures once they figure out how to build stuff

As for the tunnels, Rosebutas have access to large machines that bore main tunnels for them, although they have to power it themselves. Floating islands might not be the proper name for them. Maybe floating gardens or floating cottages. Well, the concept's about the same, so I guess it depends on the scale more than anything. Peronsally, I imagine it being more similar to groves of free-floating sea plants like sea hyacinth (although there are many other kinds of similar plants). They don't really need anything extra to weight them down (in fact, they might have a pretty strict load limit), although it being fruit-bearing might be handy for food for the residing chumbuds. They can also serve as hotspots of marine animal activities due to the shelter and food they provide. As for living space, I imagine the chumbuds either live in the plants or (if they have sufficient technology) in man-made habitats intertwined with the plants. As for source of heat, I guess it's probably only necessary in colder waters, and /ggg/'s probably in the tropics.

Second. 4 days until Risuners have extremely passionate SEX WITH SAPLINGS! The countdown continues.

As to the comments about the Risuner economic system. Yes it is VERY flawed. But I can see some points being made. I believe certain risuners will begin to pick up on the idea of what is essentially risuner tax evasion. Spend all your money on random shit or exchange it then when the exchange is over exchange it all back. Now this might not be big because the prize of being the one from each settlement of giving the most nuts to Risu is the honor of nutting in her mouth.

As for gem quality I did originally have all the gems produced to be as authentic as you can get. But if people see a problem with this collectively then maybe I can dance around this. But like an anon said before, Risuners only see gems as 1. PRETTY 2. The thing that the witches want for LOTS OF NUTS 3. Magic catalyst which the gem is completely destroyed.

/Risu/ is going to learn how to make canons with the deadbeat right? If so your cannons would look more similar to a European one than a Southeast Asian one. Though the decoration would probably be different. Also the cannon used should be subordinate to your ship's design and doctrine. From a quick skim of Wikipedia lantakas are a common arm found aboard most ships in Malesia at that time. If your war ship's construction is more similar to deadbeats, then it will most likely rely on broadsides from bigger ships, but if it's the /meat/heads, then swivel guns and chasers on smaller ships. It depends on your anticipated type of enemy or target.

Based on the unit movement chart and art they attached it's clearly referencing the battle of Cannae. Pomerlane anon probably based the figures roughly on Polybius's account on Cannae.

It is inspired by Cannae and also Leuctra. Hannibal at Cannae was able to pull off the same thing against 80,000 with only 50,000. The problem was for the Republic was that they had a lack of control over their inexperience troops. Keep in mind many had not seen battle before and they would be easier to exhaust than the veterans that Pomerlane has. i get that but i feel the fact that the percentage of warriors differing more while the casualtys are even less and the fact that pomerlane straight up murdered everyone while hannibal did take prisoners is a big difference

pomerlane also has lots of mercenarys who fight for money not for loyalty to the land and i doubt they would want to go the extra mile and risk dying in a won battle while the encircled army sees no mercy and thus has nothing to loose but put it all in fighting for their life

its just me being nitpicky, not like it matters or changes the overall flow of the story just because of numbers.

Read about Cannae, the men left were unable to even move. This is also an army half its size and unlike the Roman Army at Cannae, was made up of recruits.
Cannae:
>Polybius wrote: "as their outer ranks were continually cut down, and the survivors forced to pull back and huddle together, they were finally all killed where they stood."
>Polybius writes that of the Roman and allied infantry, 70,000 were killed, 10,000 captured, and "perhaps" 3,000 survived.
Keep also in mind that as I have written, not every thing is factually 100% correct. Battle casualties in the ancient war, and even today are over estimated and blown out of propotion. Who is to say that Pomerlane had more men killed that is stated or the Republic lost less than state. I mean, look at Gaugamela. Diodorus Siculus wrote that Alexander only lost 400 men to 90,000 Persians.

>> No.26489615

In reality, the losses were likely 25-30,000 killed vs. 5,000. That's reasonable. Most battlefield losses occur when an army breaks anyway.

Historians of Vitubia would probably have access to quite a lot of primary sources and accounts of the battle, unlike their ancient counterparts. Lantaka is a pretty small gun in terms of naval guns, with some being almost man-portable. As a result, they most probably won't be sinking any ships soon in most reasonable scenario - they're primarily anti-personnel weapons against boarders and other soft targets without protection from hardened hulls. For anti-ship guns, you would probably need some of the larger lela cannons for that (even then they're fairly light), and seems to be usually placed in fortified aft and bow instead of broadsides (which makes sense given their generally smaller and often piratical use).
Combined with Risuners' talent and /risu/'s still-developing industrial base, I would say that /meat/head naval warfare style is probably more suitable than /morig/'s, but then again, I'm from /meat/ so you might want to take it with a grain of salt.

I'll put it this way, Feeshland is a backwards state overall that doesn't trust Firearms in their army because of past experiences and politics. (Patricians really don't want firearms in the hands of citizens because that could lead to overthrowal.) Other states like Eliria, Pomerania and Selenium use firearms in their armies promeniently. Pomerlane himself will soon be using them. It's just Feeshland being a corrupt, plutocratic, shithole that has caused this.

Hmm we don't have a concrete timeline of the technologyies of Vitubia so it's hard to model. Since in-universe Niji probably has limited contact with holo continent their style of warfare might differ a lot. Chuubanite can change that equation too. But even with a century of relative peace, their army should still adapt somewhat to what their neighbors are doing. What do you intend the Dragoon's army to be like? They are the strongest army in NijiEn (IIRC) so a lot of NIji's army would be modeled after them (or influenced by them) too.

Kind of explained it in my piece on them. Basically, they rely on Lancers, Dragoons (Which are proficient on horse and on foot), musketeers and Pikes to a degree. Primative forms of Bayonets have started to be made but aren't there yet for the pike to be abandoned) As stated, Feeshland distrusts their own citizens and is corrupt as hell. Pomerania is fractured but has powerful armies like the dragoons have. Eliria has an army, it is up to date but too small. They basically focus on the arts.

Precisely what >>26495346 said. Citing from the chuubanite overview

>4. Chuubanite should not become the optimal solution to everything. Normal technology should be able to compete with chuubanite magic to certain extent, and in some cases, it should be able to outperform chuubanite magic. For example, in the case of using chuubanite as a propellant in guns, gunpowder would be just as, if not more, effective while also being cheaper. In the case of using chuubanite to power machinery, conventional power sources such as waterwheels and coal have the advantage of, again, being cheaper, but also not deteriorating over time like chuubanite does.

the difference i see is that the way we use chuubanite can absolutly be the backbone of a story the, even more so with the way most nations use it as some "passive buff"

even with the battle blimp i could never justifiy it in a reasonable way why it would be some absolutly indestructible fortress of doom that cannot be destroyed what so ever just because of chuubanite, its gonna be a sturdier watership at the cost of needing so specific resources that it will take decades just to built one

i don't get this argument at all. with chuubanite, you need to be creative and think about world building while building your world which could give you an advantage if you are creative enough, but that would be hard to abuse do to the limitations of chuubanite as a concept, whereas with divine intervention you get overpowered asspulls right out the gate that will inevitable be abused no matter how you set it up.

/nasa/ does care about world history. Pomerlane may not be a threat to us but its still interesting to see how natives handle their own wars. Not watching the war would be stupid.

That said in universe /nasa/ is completely unaware of current events outside of their territories because we have no interplanetary spy satellites nor world wide web. /nasa/ only has surveilence and telecom equipment within 30 kilometers of the station. Even then reception becomes spotty past 10 kilometers and services become useless during bad weather and winter. /nasa/'s news of the world comes from our neighbors when we visit them. So news travels as fast as sailboats and horseback.

Also Sanalites in the actual /nasa/ thread don't really give a rat's ass about the Holo vs Niji rrat wars. The thread itself has become numb to Mozzie attacks that we don't really fall for bait. Those that fall for Sana bait threads outside of /nasa/ got chased out of /nasa/ a while ago. My opinion about Niji chuubas is some competition is good in the long run for Hololive. Same with indies. As long as you don't directly attack us or Sana you're welcome. I want to bake cookies for Rosebutas who are Nijis.

not a holobro but the argument that anyone should for example get an atomic bomb with the pretense "but we are not going to use it against other nations" is stupid, even more so if followed by "unless provoked"

its the same reason why i hate the /nasa/ spaceship. its an impenetrable steel fortress that no one can ever breach outfitted with turrets and railguns and whatnot and in the extreme case that for some reason a force strong enough to actually breach it attacks it also got a self destruct function that will let it blow up like a nuke. but that is fine because it is "technology" and not "magic" so it is different

Pomerlane is more concern about establishing a dynasty once he gets what he wants. He isn't a moron either if you have read the story. He knows that attacking everyone wouldn't end well even with all of the might of what an empire could be. The pure irony about railguns is that they're perfect weapons to use in space but are absolutely worthless on a planet with an atmosphere. On Vitubia because of the atmosphere /nasa/'s railguns can only get about 10-20 shots off before the barrels need to be replaced. That's because railguns fire shots so fast they ignite the atmosphere with plasma. The plasma over time will burn and warp the barrel. In space you don't have this problem. No atmosphere. No plasma.

The reason why chuubanite superweapons arent allowed is the same why tech superweapons arent. /nasa/ is the only excception to this rule and personally I would also limit them a bit, but so far there doesnt seem to be much issues with /nasa/ being a little bit more advanced.
