/nasfaqg/ - NASFAQ General - Off-Topic Edition

Thread for the discussion of NASFAQ, a financial market simulator based on holding of coins that represent the members of Hololive and some of their mamas.
This is a fake stock market game meant for FUN, not a real stock market (cryptofags will not be happy here either, no real money involved, NO you won't get better at stocks from this).

https://nasfaq.biz/info - READ THIS. No seriously, read it, faggot.

Hello /nasfaqg/, we’ve prepared a financial report for you, the Returns Report. Seeing how leaderboard place might not entirely reflect how well or how poorly you are doing anymore and the benchmark page is vulnerable to daily market fluctuations, we’ve collected data from all active players with open wallets. It was then processed and separated into four categories: Trading, Investing, Dividends, and Wallet Appreciation to gain more insight into your performance during the past week. The tables will use colors to denote possible membership of a corporation/group after they form.

>Changelog
• Reminder: you can request individual user ledgers, either as images or .csv files! Just message Triangle or Clocks.
• Mutual funds inbound!

>Game Activity
• There have been 218 players who made at least a single transaction in the past week, which is 6 less than last week.

>Disclaimer & Limitations
Before we proceed, I should note that the Returns Report is still a work-in-progress. In its finished state, the Returns Report will also include losses/gains of net worth due to gacha, betting, and market fluctuations, painting a whole and complete picture of individual components that caused your net worth to change over the week.
The data collection has several limitations:
• It does not include data from closed wallets.
• Inactivity is denoted solely by the lack of trades in the past week.
• If someone were to open and close their wallets over the week, it’d only count the open-wallet period.
• User had to exist at the moment the beginning of the week, when data collection started.
So, if you are active and want to see your performance in those reports, set your wallet to public!

Due to peculiarities of the data collection, there is a single case in which an active account would not be featured in the Returns Report, even with an open wallet. All three conditions have to be fulfilled:
• Account was created last year.
• Account’s wallet is open.
• Account never bought a coin.
In this single case, that account would need to be manually added. No active accounts fulfill those conditions right now. Nevertheless, if you do not appear in the Returns Report and would 1) want to 2) fulfill three criteria above, please send a direct message to Triangle Consulting.

>Income Overview
The data was collected during the 20:00 GMT+0 12.06.2022 to 20:00 GMT+0 19.06.2022 period. Data is sorted from largest to smallest total income during the data collecting period.
To define the sources of income:
- ‘Trading Profit’ stems from selling coins within the last week. Once a coin is sold, an associated ‘buy’ transaction is matched. The difference between buy price and sell price, deducted by buying/selling taxes, constitutes the trading profit column. Zeros in this column indicate a lack of sells, while negative values indicate inefficient trading.
- ‘Investments Profit’ stems from coins bought but not sold within the last week. In this case, the ‘profit’ is measured by taking the buy price and subtracting it from the 14-day average price of the coin. Negative values here indicate buying coins above their base price and holding them – large negative values are often the signs of heavy oshicoining or spending large amounts of money at once.
- ‘Last Dividends’ is simple enough. It’s the dividend payout from 18.06.2022 dividends.
- ‘Wallet Appreciation’ is the increase in net worth caused by market inflation. Bigger wallets have coins that remained ‘passive’ throughout the entire week are neither bought nor sold; however, the market is trending upwards, and thus they increase in value over time slightly. It is harder to notice, but it has a massive impact as it makes up for roughly 1/4th of the total profits of higher-ranked players. It’s calculated by taking the 21-day average price of a coin one week ago and now, subtracting them, and then multiplying by the amount of ‘passive’ coins in the wallet for every coin. Naturally, if the market were trending downwards, we’d observe a wallet depreciation, loss in value.
- ‘Auctions’ is the net balance of all auctions that finished within the data collection period. This factors in taxes on the side of the buyer, since the seller of the item only receives 95% of the bid.

>Trading Overview
Using the same data, this breaks down all ‘active’ trading profits into categories and sorts players by total trading profits from last week.
‘Trading Income’ is the basic difference between the buy and sell price of coins, ‘Trading Taxes’ are losses from buy/sell taxes in the two matching transactions. Taxes differ based on multicoin count. ‘Trading Profits’ is simply income minus taxes.
‘Invested Amount’ is the amount of money converted into coins by unmatched buys. ‘Investment Income’ composes of ‘Invested Profit’ plus ‘Investment Taxes’, it’s highlighted for consistency. ‘Investment Taxes’ are losses due to taxes associated with those transactions. In theory, 4.5% is the minimal investment taxes/invested amount ratio, while 45% is the maximal ratio, representing only 1x buys or only 10x buys. ‘Invested Profit’ is the difference between the price the coin was purchased at and its average price, minus taxes; you can consider it a forced sell of every coin bought during the week at the average price. Oshicoiners and high-ranked players, respectively, thrust themselves into buying coins above their average prices if they want to convert liquid into coins for long-term dividend profits.
As you can see, trading differentiates the players a lot. While total income was correlated mainly with rank, especially high on the leaderboard, trading easily differentiates between players who are close to one another.

>Dividends Overview
This section is meant to represent the long-term investment quality, represented by wallet composition. ‘Last Dividends’ displays the last dividends payout, ‘Average Net Worth’ is the average of daily net worth measured at 20:00 GMT+0 on every day pre-dividends, and ‘Approximate ROI %’ is ‘Last Dividends’ divided by ‘Average Net Worth’. The data is sorted from highest ‘Approximate ROI %’ to lowest. Since it is just an approximation and concerns a single payout, you should aim for being consistently high rather than always being on the top.
The ‘Dividends’ section of the Report is a work-in-progress and thus has some limitations: it is susceptible to price fluctuations and since it only takes into account the last dividends, it will favor oshicoiners of the top coin(s) over people with wallets that are better diversified for week-by-week stable dividend income.

>Income by Source
In this table, the total income of the past week was split into its core components, indicating how much every element contributed to the weekly profits. When a component brought losses, it was skipped so all components would sum up to 100%. This table is sorted by rank.
Higher-ranked players rely almost exclusively on dividends and wallet appreciation for profit. Trading has a maximum profitability cap associated with it since the number of trades you can make in a single cycle is limited. This is reinforced by the need to spend liquid to be able to hold coins that will generate profits over time in an exponential manner, stifling the profitability of trading higher-up.
On the other hand, trading can make up the bulk of income for the newer players It remains the primary method of climbing since it heavily differentiates between players, while dividends are more or less the same percentage-wise.
Auctions are a niche source of income most of the time, but can explain much of the rapid movement at later pages of the leaderboard.
As you can see, wallet appreciation starts being the main driving force of late-game income. This trend will deepen as long as dividends remain stagnant.

That concludes the Returns Report. Are the results what you expected? Is there some functionality you’d want for us to implement? Feel free to discuss and give us feedback.

>When creating a fund, you choose a name, mission statement, icon, tag, color, and an initial investment amount. This initial investment will come directly from your balance and is the only opportunity you will have to directly inject money into the fund.
So people who join later don't inject money, only the CEO does?
>When the CEO decides to make the company public, users will have the opportunity to buy and sell up to 1000 shares of the fund each day.
Does this mean *I* can buy/sell up to 1000 shares per fund specific fund or that *the entire market* can buy/sell up to 1000 shares per fund
>It is also at this time, once per day, when user orders for fund shares are processed using the new price
So all buys/sells happen at the same time? No regular buying cooldown? Can buy 1000 shares in one go if I have the money?

>If you have any questions please feel free to ask

>Recruitment and role management
>Portfolio management
>All fund members will have access to the fund's portfolio
Will the CEO get the ability to create roles with different permissions for each member, so you could allow certain members to trade, say, only gen 4 or stuff like that? Can you remove everyone's permission to buy Towa?

>Dividend distribution
Will the CEO/management have control over this? So different funds could compete with each other offering better rates to investors at the cost of having less capital to reinvest/compensate management.

>an initial investment amount
>will come directly from your balance and is the only opportunity you will have to directly inject money into the fund
Could you add the option for people joining the fund as "fellow portfolio managers" to inject money as well when they join?

>The rest of the investment will come from releasing shares of the company to the public
>users will have the opportunity to buy and sell up to 1000 shares of the fund each day
Do the CEO/management have control over how many shares get released and when? Having people throw liquid at the fund when you don't need it sounds like a pain. It makes more sense for the fund to decide to release shares when they want to raise funds only, not all the time.

>a 1.5% rate of each sale being distributed amongst the fund members as a fee for their work
>each fund will distribute the total payout received from (dividends) to their shareholders
So fund members only profit from sells and investors from divs? Sounds exploitable. I think it makes more sense for each fund to be able to set their own rates for sales/dividends so different funds offer different investment solutions to their investor and compete with each other by doing so. Also
>You certainly could manage a fund all by yourself, and earn 100% of the fees from investors
If you are doing it all by yourself you'd get the 1.5% rate on sells all for yourself but, assuming you haven't gone public, who the 'investors' would be? Can a company just never go public? If so, who gets the money from divs? Do the CEO + management count as investors before the company goes public? Does the CEO get shares proportional to his initial investment the moment the company goes public?

>at market close, 4:02pm ET
>4:02pm ET
What the actual fuck?

>interest of 10% is added to their liability
Who gets that interest? The shareholder? The broker? Also, how is that interest applied? Once? Daily? Weekly? Shouldn't the fund managers be notified of big selloffs/get a bit of extra time to act before the fine applies? Seems unnecessary punishing otherwise

A couple of notes and a tenative announcement:
Firstly, regarding Mutual Funds, there is currently not any plan nor structure for a Numbers Review expansion for Mutual Funds. I intend to poke around a bit, but I want to offer the opportunity for others to take the reins on that if they so choose. In a way, this is crossover territory between the Returns Report and Numbers Review, and also new ground at the same time. I want to offer that opportunity to others.
With that said, I am announcing that I intend to create a mutual fund for the Financial Underwriters of Comprehensive Knowledge. I've felt for a while now that it was time to "expand the business" so to speak, and Mutual Funds being released is a good time as any. F.U.C.K.'s primary goal as a Mutual Fund will be pretty much as it alway has been: to gather and distribute market information in more easily-accessible manner, and to help people have a better understanding of internal market mechanics so that they can not have their reps done for them, but decide for themselves what reps are important and what aren't. The mutual fund will serve as a way to help drive this, providing funding for market research and general support for those willing to gather and share information with the general public, as opposed to hoarding it for themselves. Anybody interested in providing the thread and the playerbase with regular information and/or analytics is permitted to join.

As always, the Financial Underwriters of Comprehensive Knowledge would like to remind you to stay informed, shitpost responsibly, and FUD accurately.

the roles are not that advanced yet, its simply either member or board member, where board members can make bulletins and accept incoming requests.
none of the income from dividends are given disproportionately to the members, it is entirely distributed amongst shareholder who among them are probably also fund members.
>Could you add the option for people joining the fund as "fellow portfolio managers" to inject money as well when they join?
Possibly, right now all members will have to invest via buying shares
>Do the CEO/management have control over how many shares get released and when?
Only when to first go public. after that they cannot stop people from buying, but that is something we can definitely add
Giving the funds the ability to set their own rates is something also on the list of soon to come. the CEO will be able to choose how many shares they want to start off with which will affect the initial price per share. If there are no outstanding shares, the dividend payouts just get added to the fund balance instead of being distributed

Presuming it's you honk, even if this change is true, I was wondering how this affects overall volatility. As the mutual funds' individual multibuys and purchases are dampened, how does that affect the total overall share pool? I'm thinking that it will end up resulting in share inflation and resulting individual user impact on the market to be decreased as a result of the massive increase in the volume pool, if this is intended, that's fine, I was just wondering.

Let's say, hypothetically, I was in a group of 10 people.
Let's say all 10 of us make our own personal mutual fund, and we all join each others funds as well. 10 players in 10 different mutual funds.
What exactly is the benefit of this arrangement? Does it serve any purpose? Is it a waste of resources, inefficient? Would it not just be better to pool all our resources into 1 single mega mutual fund?

For experienced / intermediate i'd say has played a good amount of games and/or won games before, if they know a few yakus beyond the mahjong soul tutorial then thats probably good enough.
Scheduling hasnt fully been decided upon per the form for feedback, but i assume similar to chess 1-2hrs after adjust fits most timezones.
