The problem is the amount of waiting there is and if settings as it's a fine balance between the "Ultra Efficient Ratio and Bus Man" being too advanced for the people who don't Factorio (or similar factory games) and Spaghetti Clown which takes 40+ Hours to get it done on peaceful. As they're too busy trying to figure out basic concepts of Factorio much less how to make things work...

While you're right in some parts about the FGC I would still prefer this over another survival craft game arc or endless fps ranked grind. At least with fighting games they can play against each other without needing a full lobby for it to work well.

Part of the problem is stuff like Apex and Valorant can easily be turned into larger collabs, while FGs boil down to either one person grinding ranked forever, or two people fighting for a bit and quickly finding out how bad they are(see the Mori/Ina GGS collab). The other problem fighting games are still 60$+ tax/tip + season passes, while Apex/Valo are free, or super cheap like Siege and CSGO.

The 60 dollar tag doesn't really impede them from playing Smash (tho they don't really do it anymore). I understand the problems with it, but Apex/Valo streams are not much different with the grinding, and collabs are only fun if they're either good at the game, playing on customs/tournaments or if they're good at conversation (essentially a zatsudan with the game as background noise). The last part can happen regardless of the game or the skill level of the players, and organizing an 8-man quick tournament or first to anything is much easier than a custom match on Apex, Valorant or really any shooter (maybe if Quake became popular again).
