>Singles (HFZ 2K20 Championship) - Nene vs Haachama (C)[W]

It was a great morning to wake up for a long-awaited HFZ stream and we were greeted with a very predictable and mostly underwhelming HFZ Champion title match that felt like the opposite of everything the stream was meant to be.

OP returned from a nearly month long hiatus to and introduced some fresh matchups for the stream. I liked the Hell in a Cell match between Kronii and Sana, it was a match type we don't see much in HoloFightZ, and while ultimately the match was short-lived it did pack some nice entertainment for its worth. There was also a handicap match that had a surprising outcome with the underdog Kanata winning against Hagfriends.

The HoloFightZ Champion match used to be about rising stars who managed to prove themselves in the midcard or upper card and get a shot at challenging a champion who went through that exact same journey. Two main-eventers would clash and slug it out to determine who deserves the belt until such time that a new rising star would prepare to undertake that journey for the belt. While Haachama has been somewhat of a favorite for this belt, it is undeniable that Nene had the makings to be a worthy contender and definitely a worthy champion had she actually won the title match today.

Here are some takeaways from this stream's match.

>The Three Belts
For the longest time, HoloFightZ has come very close to the "Three Belts" unification event where the Coexist partners Akai Haato and Haachama would hold the HFZ Champion, QoJ Champion, and Tag Team Champion simultaneously. It's been teased for so long that it's almost mythologized in the fed. I for one believe that this particular angle has worn out its welcome and has become a hindrance for potentially better angles and storylines concerning these three belts. Shion definitely had something going on with winning the QoJ belt, and I'm eager to see what Lamy would do with it. The worst thing that could happen is for Haato to regain the QoJ belt and somehow lose either their upcoming Tag Team title match with Baerys or for Haachama to lose the HFZ Champion belt, restarting the Three Belts angle all over again.

>Nene the Gatekeeper
Nene has been regarded as a gatekeeper for the championship belt for the longest time. It was always a question of "if the gatekeeper is so effective at keeping contenders away from the championship, when does the gatekeeper herself get a shot at the belt?" and we got our answer today. Nene unfortunately was not able to go over Haachama, and the response from the fans have a tinge of disappointment in them. We know that contenders are for the most part going to be the ones fans would root for, but Akai Haato and Haachama have always had the crowd on their side, something that is surprisingly absent for today's stream.

This title match has been the weakest of all the HoloFightZ title matches I've ever seen so far. I still have faith that OP can deliver a reasonable and satisfying conclusion for the *next* HFZ Champion title match, but it would be something that we'll have to build up to yet again. It would be great if this setback was only a one-off and not the sign of stagnation on storylines and angles that this promotion wants to push.

due to an irl situation that has popped up, HFZ DARK streams will be moved to SATURDAYs at 10 AM Central Time. this timeslot also seems to work better for most of the audience.
In the event that HoloFightZ, Clash of Chuubas, Chuuba Battle Tournament, META, HoloFighter, or GuraFighter schedules a stream on a Saturday morning, HFZ DARK will move to SUNDAY at 10 AM Central Time. In the event of both 10 AM timeslots being booked, I will stream at the same time as any of the listed above EXCEPT for HoloFightZ, with priority given to Satursday.

the graduation sucked, but really after coco arc i got a full time job so I just had less time to do HFZ. also the cycle of not wanting to work on it after work because i wanted to not work more, and not wanting to work on it on my days off because i didnt want to spend my days off in the wwe 2k wage(less) cage, which i still get like that to this day, though i do have more free time now.
i will say that after the 2k20 stream that was after the 2k22 test stream i did lose some desire to work on HFZ since I realized 2k20 was losing interest with people (especially when there's no one to debut) and the only real way to rekindle that is with "lore" (a ton of work, and something i really don't have a desire to do), or doing 2k22, and the task of remaking 50 something wrestlers in 2k22 is a lot of of work that I have a hard time wanting to do (the 12 I made in a week for last 2k22 stream took like 60 something hours). then there's also other projects I have that I would like to work on more

One of HFZ's bigger draws (for me) has been that the lore is more open to interpretation. Minor quips in the chat that give very brief glimpses of the possibility of a more protractive narrative happening behind the matches, and anything else the viewers have to figure out themselves. It gives people stuff to talk about between streams. I think the reason this discussion has died down isn't because you're not posting lore, but a lot of the angles that people are seeing feel repetitive and overly drawn-out: 3 Belts, Ina trying to claw her way back up to relevance, ect. These things would work in a "season" told over a few weeks or a couple months of content, but for a lot of people these arcs are almost a year old now.
That's not really on you, though, it's just a trend I've noticed. There's been some new angles attempting to get footing, like the Ayame/Towa "feud", Management's EN Favortism, and management desperately trying to get Risu and Aqua wins. Nobody wants to talk much about those, though.

2k20 has more customization and the work is already mostly done. Maybe some minor updates to polish out the old memes and new outfits, but it's way better than starting from scratch.
2k22's matches are much faster paced and there's a bit more variance in the moves the AI will utilize. That's a double-edged sword, though, since the AI being retarded is a good chunk of the fun. Stuff like INDRAWNESIA doesn't happen in 2k22 pretty much ever, since the AI is all but hardcoded to get back in the ring ASAP.

yeah i try to do chat little things like that to make stuff feel more alive. as far as the 3 belt stuff goes, I'm really not actively trying to get that to happen as people might think, its just a thing that if it happens, i might do something with it. if i wanted it to happen I would've just not booked shion against haato, and previously not booked ina against haachama, but I decided against it since it would feel too forced. i would consider it a passive angle that is always a possibly that could happen, not something to focus on. but of course haachama and coexist in general will get a lot of focus since they make up two thirds of the belts, so it probably does feel like they're always at the center of attention since they are. it doesnt help that haachama has utter squash potential much like ina. as for other angles I just try to let stuff naturally happen, meaning if nothing interesting happens no angles really get introduced, especially since as you said, i stream much less frequently now.

yes I like 2k20 and do feel like i dont want to abandon it with all the work i put into it, but 2k22 is a better game to work with in general. it has a couple problems but overall is so refreshing for me, if it had advanced entrances it would be perfect. while 2k20 has fun moments but there are a lot of problems that absolutely piss me off, behind scenes with caw making and in actual matches. one of the problems being the garunteed crash that will happen after playing through 1 universe week (9 matches), which can utterly fuck up title matches and rumbles
though another issue i have with moving over completely to 2k22 is.... 2k23 is going to release, is it even worth it to redo everything when 2k23 will almost 99% be the same game, but with advanced entrances?

2k22 did well enough, it seems, and the devs are actively working on it and seem to give a shit. The main problem is going to be do the PUBLISHERS give a shit, which is almost always a resounding "no".

i feel the reason why the ABYSS matches work, is because they build a story as they go on and get you invested. because there is essentially a "refresh" every 10 minutes, it gives the opportunity for the momentum to swing, and makes it more exciting. it helped that it was the most lore focused event/match type in the entirety of DARK. but i think as a "match" they have the potential to stand out on their own. ABYSS League was kind of like a test for that, as that had no story stakes, but it's really easy to get invested in seeing one team beat another.
i brainstormed a lot to come up with the idea, and i was very pleased with how it ended up working out.
in terms of the ironman matches i've done being entertaining, i try to build them up with lore. Alton training all season only to lose 5 to 10. Teamate has 10 minutes of air to beat his partner in his homeland, only for it to end in a draw right before the decisive 3 count lands. the first match would have been another boring squash if it just followed their first two matches in episode 0 and 1, and the second would have just been random nonsense.

I actually think moving to 2k22 was a good direction because despite already existing in 2k20, seeing them being remade in 2k20 feels like everything is new. it also gives you a reason to go on a different direction or do some changes with the old characters that you can't do on 2k20 like that Lean Mori. speaking of, at this point you'd probably want to render them on their alt costumes to keep the 2k22 debuts feel more fresh. again, Lean Mori is a very good example of that.

In short, it's mostly going to benefit surface level modding such as attire replacements (Cena's new gear is already up for download) and restoring content currently in the files such as hidden entrance animations. I think the main problems about modding Vince's barely held together kusoge are these:
