Once or twice a week my computer blue screens and freezes. It happens randomly, there's no pattern or obvious trigger. I don't want to start streaming until I fix this but I can't for the fucking life of me figure out what's causing it. Pain.

I think I'm going to give up. It's heartbreaking to continue on any longer. So many of my old friends are in big corporate companies now and a few of them have even followed me back after their reincarnation, but it just makes me feel like I've been left behind because I'm inferior. My numbers are pathetic, I can barely hold over 100 viewers despite streaming for 3 years, I auditioned for the final wave of Nijisanji as my last hope to make it and despite it getting views and an 77% watch time average, I have yet to hear anything back. It's been 3 months. It's one thing if I don't make it past the preliminary auditions, but to not even get an audition at all is what really makes me feel worthless. I wish I had auditioned for the first or even second wave of Nijisanji, but I had my sights set on Hololive and didn't audition out of a sense of tribalism. I've failed. Seeing my character brings me pain. I don't want to give up but I'm getting too old for this, and the false hope hurts me so much more every time.

I usually narrate everything that happens in the game even if it's a bit redundant. A lot of people are audio-only so I feel like that kind of helps letting them know when something worth watching is happening, and side stories come out naturally when I get reminded of whatever. That's your problem. It means you're learning from people who have already filtered and applied whatever they've learned to themselves. All the biggest vtubers have watched that "3DPD" for ages, it's part of how a lot of them learned how to stream like them. Any time there's a game fad with chuubas, "3DPD" has already done it. He talks a lot about the game industry and his opinions on games (having worked with and talked to Blizzard and other dev team directly for years, for example), as well as philosophical stuff. He's basically the Diogenes of Twitch. The man is a mutli-millionaire that decided instead of joining a streaming org that would've undoubtedly paid him millions, he'd create his own with his friends he's made along the way. He basically lives in squalor, rejecting most material things outside of his PC that he needs for work (only upgraded to a dual PC setup last year) and opts to live in his childhood home that he's lived in his entire life. The guy still talks to all his old childhood friends as well as smaller creators he made friends with that didn't make it as far as him. He's kind of an ass and has some shitty takes now and then but overall he's a pretty standup guy.

The problem is the audience. Most people who watch Vtubers don't watch for the same reason they watch IRL Streamers. They want pure, retarded, unopinioated "feelgood" shit. That's perfectly fine and there's a time and place for everything, but most vtubers are leaps different than IRL content creators in terms of what they'll allow of themselves to be in the public eye. Everything has to be comfy, frictionless, and relatively safe even among the edgier ones like Pippa. I have yet to find any chuuba that matches the same "feel" as IRL streamers I watch aside from Zentreya and on occasion Veibae but I can't stand the TTS or the constant coomer baiting so I really don't watch either most of the time. There's just something missing and it's like that gap is impossible to bridge.

The audience for Vtubers has grown greatly. They went from some random weird thing being recognized and legitimized by some of the top content creators on the platform and will only continue to do so. It went from a couple thousand, to thousands, to tens of thousands in just a few years and is only going to grow as they're normalized. It's just a matter of time before one is invited to a major org like 100T, TSM, OTK etc and is even more normalized, so it makes a lot more sense to broaden your horizons now that there's so many more viewers than there used to be.

You don't have to stick to one thing but there's no reason to be afraid to branch out and experiment.

The majority of successful streamers and vtubers were not poor when they started out. In some cases they might not have had a perfect situation but they had a lot of other circumstances to support them. This is more often the case for vtubers because of the additional costs. It's an expensive hobby that as a business is just a whole lot of sunk costs in most cases. Those without the money or support are going to be more inclined to ask around and try to reduce costs. Those with lots of surplus funds are going to be the ones that make virtuous twitter posts about paying your artists well. Both are just more concentrated in different places. This is 4chan and most anons are probably more poor than average.

I can try to answer this question as a first world citizen that is poor and subsidized by the government.

1. The first thing to consider is that I have first world expenses and cost of living. This means that I need a considerable amount of money before I can get anything for it.
2. The second thing to consider is that platforms take a cut from whatever you receive.
3. Next comes high taxes and while I am in the lowest tax bracket I still have to pay taxes. Even if this means that the money I get from the government to help me cope with my financial situation partially goes back to the government. This helps to justify some government jobs.
4. When I receive money I have to report it. The subsidies that I receive are affected and reduced such that the net positive increase in my income is much smaller than the increase after taxes.
5. Businesses also get subsidies from the government depending on how they operate. This incentivizes them to avoid full-time contracts and proper wages and lets the government help make up the difference. The labor market is quite toxic because of this.
6. For any amount of additional income to really make a difference and not just cause headaches for pennies it needs to be enough such that it can fully support me in a first world country. This means that I need about $2000/month minimum which is a lot more than $5 for it to not cause me problems.

On the other hand you could look at it a different way. Up until that threshold when a viewer would give me money they're really just giving it to platforms and governments. I might only ever see a few percent of whatever they give or maybe nothing at all. So unless I can get big I would rather that my viewers save their money.

Both males and females are usually both able to reach that point eventually, but all other things being equal (ie. quality of voice, quality of model, friendliness, ability to stream well, willingness and ability to shill oneself, ect) females will reach that point significantly faster. And by significantly I mean probably 10x faster or more.
