It was sadly inevitable that there would be a male option because Hololive has male VTubers.

All this talk about why anyone would play a female character is nuts. Here is why I started doing it:

1. Playing a smaller character made it easier to manually select someone to heal them and as someone who mains the healer role, I felt that was important.
2. Making a male character when playing a smaller, cutesy character felt sexually questionable
3. After doing this from one MMO to the next starting with TERA and now in FFXIV, I got used to it.

tl;dr: I started playing female characters because I wanted to be a better healer without feeling like I was doing something sexually questionable.

On a side note, I noticed that my female characters have been more popular with women than with men.
