hey /vt/! /gd/ here.

I have a shop on a print on demand site. I sell my own work there. It's doing alright, but since I watch vtubers as well, I was wondering if I should do vtuber based art. Would it be profitable. Would buy art of your favorite vtuber?

Pic not really related. I just think Salome is hot.

Just do Hololive. I like Nijisanji way more (girl in your OP is from that) but Hololive merch will sell way faster. Fan merch in Nijisanji fanbase is mostly spearheaded and purchased by women who have specific tastes, that usually are keychains and almost never stickers.
I also notice that online fan merch selling seems to do well if you include memes in your merch. So go look up some Hololive memes.

In addition to what >>25932549 said, nijisanji is mostly popular only in Japan so unless you're planning on offering shipping to japan too you're not gong to get very many purchases

No, Nijisanji has a fanmerch base (again, mostly for male vtuber art purchased by women), but you missed their main time of operation which is the spring. Google にじそうさく, it's where all the small merch like stickers and such are sold, mainly on Booth but also Melonbooks and Toranoana when it comes to doujin. It's an in-person event with shit sold online too. However you'd have to be typing in Japanese to appeal to any buyers. I don't think you'd be interested in that.

I don't know. Probably not. My best selling products are socks and cushions. These patterns actually don't look that crazy when scaled down and repeated.

Yup. About 75% of customers are female.
No. I do not have any anime art. The closest thing I have is photos of places I went with pngs of anime girls in the foreground. If that's artsy enough I can post it.

consider doing merch of big indies, hololive, nijisanji and VOMs will most likely take your work down.

Also one thing I've been wondering is how stable would this market be. I mean, would a buy a, say, Rushia T-shirt 2 years from now?

check /lig/ fir some people. also there's a big Korean company on twitch too they'd probably do the same thing. shoto is a male indie in twitch who has a massive fanbase from what I've seen and regularly gets 8,000-12,000 viewers.

I mean, I can learn to do better stuff. Or get in contact with a friend who does and share the profit. Or a bit of both

It sells, but unless it's your own art (and even then, the fanworks clause of each company probably has something against it), it'd be stealing.
Like that image of an IRyS fan artist that laughed at a recolor of his art used in some spic ad. But even then, the company running that ad apologized and said they got from a site that suppossedly sold license-free art.

>> No.25951663

>>25949725
yeah, I think you csught on that it was a general. by the way, I once watched slugma she was a manager for tsunderia a smaller company and she said one of her jobs was taking down unofficial merch. the indie route is probably the best way to go unless you sell something digital like erotic manga/fiction or desktop and phone wallpapers on. plenty of Japanese fans already sell doujin goods but it's usually in person at cinventions or they sell it on sites they know those companies won't bother taking down. If you ever go to some anime convention you should be fine to sell your usual stuff with gura or vox. maybe try not to do it if they're appearing at the same convention but if those companies aren't there go wild.

desktop and phone wallpapers on digitalshops like gumiroad or other that coffee tipping site*

sorry I'm on my phone as you can probably tell.

This won't fly with Japanese customers, you can't sell images you don't own.
This >>25949246 isn't true as long as you draw the art yourself. If you're pulling images off a wiki and editing them though then yes it is true you can land in hot water. Same with smaller Japanese companies.
I assumed you were an artist or something but I guess /gd/ art is more pattern based than an actual anime girl.

Do you have any vtubers in mind beyond Salome? Because if you don't watch them the final product might look a bit soulless.
