I don't know, I seem to naturally attract a few people wherever I go. I can't pinpoint one particular reason why, so I consider just being lucky in that regard.

Being able to talk well definitely helps, like large vocabulary, good improvisation skills, being able to tell stories, being good at situational humor. Maybe even offer mental support, being empathetic and caring towards others or being knowledgeable about subjects. The sum of it all will determine if people like being around you or like listening to you. Since vtubing cuts out your appearance you can only rely on those skills. There's a lot of things someone could look for in a friend and these loosely translate to streaming aswell. Of course it's always an individual connection too, one man's friend is another's enemy, but if you are really good at a bunch of these you'll naturally have more social success.

A small nitpick but it doesn't have to appeal to anyone as long as it isn't actively off-putting. That's what drives people away. Plenty of people have mediocre voices, models, personalities, etc but so long as you aren't actively off-putting you can still attract some semblance of an audience as long as you're just mediocre at worst, which is where a lot of people fail.
