yeah, after i brought it up last time and people seemed to not care much i just went over myself and started writing some stuff for fun. its a really nice and chill thread.

The combat is based on D&D, turn-based and dice rolling happening under the hood.
Gives you a lot of freedom customizing your character in terms of race, alignment, builds.
The writing (worldbuilding, lore, story, dialogues) is the major part of CRPGs like this though.

I don't think anyone plays BG for the writing, it's really mediocre. It's one of the few games that actually feels like a great adventure though.

I think bioshock was fine. It aimed to be system shock 2 lite and nailed the mark. Not a fan of the sequels though.

I have no nostalgia for CRPG from that era. I loved Planescape Torment when I played it for the first time few years ago, but I can't get into BG2. The combat is just so odd, it feels that you constantly have to "cheese" and fights are random bullshit. Too many characters, too many effects, too many dicerolls for my brain.
