(daily) Update on the "Life with a lion isn't easy y'know?" project. The first chapter is finally done, it is shorter than I anticipated but it has everything it needs. I may change a single part that I didn't end up liking but the chapter should be ready in around a day or less.

I'm putting the finishing touches on Building Block Doll chapter 18. I think everyone is going to really love this one, it'll be quite the twist.

Still trying to figure out how to continue chapter two of To Slay a Monster. I'm thinking of incorporating Kintsuba somehow.

I've got a WiP as well that is going to be similar to what Nonsense Speaker was but better and more genuine. I felt the first iteration of it was a bit to confected. This'll be a lot smoother.

To gain more inspiration for Lazy Oni and the inspiration that spawned Brown Black and Blue, I've been looking into various accounts of physical abuse. Physical abuse is mostly outside my field of experience so I've been needing more material to draw on. So many suggestions from google to call a shelter haha.

I have mixed feeling for the ryona. The descriptions are honestly very detailed but it's lacking the needed emotional weight behind it in the prose itself to make it have 'flavor' and impact, for me at least.
The story feels like it's "telling" rather than "showing" feelings. I feel like it needs to actually have those feelings of rage and pain in the prose if it actually wants to succeed as a 'ryona fic', since right now it feels like a sex scene with detailed descriptions of the fucking but without the horniness in it... Of course I could be reading this wrong and the intent was that you were supposed to feel like Flare in this but then what's lacking is the feeling of pain and hurt in the narrative. Yes, it has that after scene with Flare recovering but it lacks sufficient emotion behind it to make it work.

It’s not bad if I’m assuming that this is your first story, though I have a few criticisms.
The line: “you did know Japanese (for some reason)” felt really lazy to me, I think anything would’ve worked better there than ‘some reason’. Maybe Anon graduated with a minor in Japanese, or you could’ve expanded on his anime addiction and had him watch so much that he picked it up over time.
Try being consistent with your line breaks, sometimes they were
like this, and other times they were

like this. Maybe use large line breaks for when the next scene rolls around and small ones for new paragraphs, or stick to one type.
Everyone styles their dialogue differently, but I think at least a few dialogue tags like ‘Botan says’ or ‘you reply’ would’ve been helpful to the readability of your story.
Lastly, try to stick to present tense if that’s what you’re using, because you slipped into past tense a couple of times.
Overall though, it’s a pretty good start, I’m just being nitpicky. I thought the plane would crash or some shit to start off the journey across the sea, but now I’m curious as to how you’ll get Anon and Botan stranded together in the ocean.
