I think people would enjoy their games a lot more, and a lot closer to Taro's own vision, if he stopped trying to be cryptic and cool about things and just made the game. Case in point I sincerely think 50% of players missed the point of this ending (and of most of the game). Google autocompletes "meaning" after everything nier related.
I also think he's an actual aspie and thinks that since he's had 3 years to think of something, people will organically connect points A and Z and think the same way he did. If he made it clearer and more explicit that you're sacrificing your game and real, actual experience to give the fictitious, non-existence characters a canonical good ending on your screen, people would be more receptive and sympathetic when other players' saves appear on screen. Its not particularly hard to understand but if you're used to credit scenes being nothing, its easy to miss.
