I only follow Marine, so I don't know about other members, but she's been talking about a ton of important recordings eating up her time/wearing out her voice. I figure it's her birthday+3ki anniversaries but could be more Holo-wide stuff as well. At least I hope so, because at least that would mean the breaks are leading to something potentially fun.

Management issues, I imagine. To date we have some form of manager dissatisfaction from (forgive if I miss anybody) Mel, Pekora, Marine, Coco, Rushia, and Kiara. So straight away who the fuck wants to show up to a job where you have to kow-tow to some micro-dick JP middle-manager. Combine that with the existing perverse incentives not to stream (since fans will enable even the most extreme laziness with return superchats and social media white-knighting), and you start getting this collapse of activity. Who would want to show up to a job that sucks when they can get paid fat cash doing the bare minimum?

Finally, for JP there's a medical aspect. If you think /vt/ is schizophrenic you have not seen the Nip fanbase. Actual wastes of air. One currently very relevant symptom of this rampant autism is that JP fans dislike normal women's voices. They think it's not feminine enough, and it reflects on numbers. So a simple way for JP chuubas to buff themselves is to put on a grating squeak-toy voice. The thing is faking a higher pitch with no training for hours on end is murder on their throats. So far for throat problems we have Suisei, Marine, Pekora and Subaru. The first had to drop her previous voice entirely and the other three got put out of commission for months.

tl;dr It's not one single issue but the concurrence of multiple long-standing problems finally coming to a head.

I follow some of the HoloJP members on Twitter and most of them mention how busy May-June-July are with recordings. If you look at the upcoming birthday/anniversary schedules, summer is incredibly packed with a shit ton of event streams, so much so that some of the anniversary streams this year are just Holo chatting or call-in since the 3D studio are booked.
Currently Hololive operates more as a talent/idol agency with an emphasis on streaming rather than streamers with an idol gig on the side. The problem of streamers taking a break isn't as visible with Nijisanji (due to sheer headcounts), or VSPO/.Live since they don't have as many major outside obligations outside of streaming.
At the risk of sounding crass, Cover desperately needs to debut JP7 and EN3 soon because you'll need to start replacing the old guards as they start dealing with physical and mental ailments associated with their streaming styles.

As dogshit as Niji is, it seems like pumping out a metric shit ton of streamers has resulted in far less dead hours than HoloEN and some of JP. Either debut more streamers more frequently if they are going to be this flaky after the first few months or set up contracts that actually force talents to stream more often. If you want consistent streams without it being a Niji male collab extravaganza, the small corpo pill is the way to go ( andthen you just hope they don't implode and disappear). But yeah, it's a shame Cover let things get like this without repercussions.

It's interesting in kind of a sad way that VTubing was originally supposed to be a career that former idols and voice actors could fall back on after retirement but it still ends up being so harsh on their health that they cannot maintain it for more than a few years. It's like that with most of Asia mass-produced idols. Heavily promoted for a few years then fizzled out as the OG members either quit or pivot away into other showbiz. I used to waste a shit ton of time following K-pop groups only to see them disappear.
Granted, Hololive is unique in that they kinda unintentionally become a big idol agency and it looks like they're trying to preserve their talents' mental and physical health. I don't think the girls (especially gen 3 and prior) expected this much work coming in or the tolls it would take on their health. Take Marine prior to her throat issue for example: she has her streams, a weekly radio show, Maruyama game show, whatever is the week variety show, sponsored streams, vocal lessons, dance lessons, not to mention meetings with management, signing fan letters, and whatever other bullshit going on for 3D lives or Idol/Holofest. I'm surprised it takes most of these women 3 years to start dropping with that kind of insane schedule.

She still pulls big CCV regardless so yeah it's people enabling her.

At first, she streamed a ton and it was in the form of doing like 2-4 1 hour streams a day. Now it's like a 1 hour stream every 2-3 days. So technically in terms of weekly stream numbers it numerically sounds not far from average, but in reality because they're usually just 1 hour streams still yeah she's fucking up. That style worked good while she was new but when you limit yourself so much you don't actually fucking have the time to do much of anything worthwhile or play a game much for real. Iroha, Chloe and Lui at the very least actually do real fucking streams, Lap's wearing out her gimmick and abusing the optimistic fresh-start good will people had for her.

>> No.25009007

I think the main reasons for why that WWE's doing so absurdly well is because no one else is playing the game (which is weird since holo tend to play them on mass; if more holos did there would be less interest on each stream) and because she found out the miraculous way of doing a collab without having to do a collab so the fans that can't get enough of "interactions" always check out what's happening to their oshis on the game.
And since the NPC can play the game by themselves Miko only has to react, which is even better.
But yeah, less competition is a big part too.

I think she does play Valorant on Twitch from time to time, but yeah, she streams so little for not being even a year into Hololive but is quick to get all promotional and dream things of her (like interviewing foreign actors).
I mean, i know i should be happy for her instead of mad, but Hololive JP is so big now that the new gens from 6 on get/will get into the stratosphere from the start.
They get new costumes in like a month, start doing original songs ASAP, appear in all promotional stuff and merch. The only thing they lack is an early 3D costume. There's barely any build-up, or struggle, or grinding (Koyori does it because she likes to, she doesn't have to at all).
I wish sometimes to come back to the era where there didn't needs permissions and everyone was a 3-4 views instead of the big company famous era.
>>25009007
Chloe surprised me, because i was thinking she would keep doing her "genetically engineer numberfag" tricks around like in the first few months with short, trendy special streams and one day she just said fuck it and started playing games for like 4-5 hours in a row. It seems she's keeping her aces under the sleeves for celebration streams and is happy with being low-key after getting so much money and viewers at the start.
And i watched her Portal and Superliminal streams and she's kinda charming, well fitted for being a gamer streamer if she wants too.

Dude, she's the only one who actually worked with management to expand boundary PROPERLY. She's not like Haachama where she's basically "do first, ask questions later" which inevitably cause alot of trouble and lose faces when Holo really need to shut down some things like Haachama bringing her college friend on stream (because hey, family is allowed, so obviously college friend is allowed). If you bring up Marine complaining her proposal get shot down and she need to re-work it..... That's very normal in corporate world and she knows it.

If you're big enough, you starting to care more about contents you produce, which inevitably increase works. Its same thing as being Youtuber too. Some of them just cannot go back to the day of "make videos for fun".... because they now have commitments and fans expectations. Commitments are not just families or bills, but also co-workers like cameramen, staffs, Manager, HR, etc. Fans also wanted them to grow. People buying merchs sending in message of support wanting them to grow more etc....

Its fine though if you just want to stream for fun and don't want to care about the content quality, but expect words like "you're wasting your potential" thrown around too. Some people do stops and just fade like nigahiga.
