Why aren't racing games more prevalent among vtubers?

>> No.24925122

i think it takes a specific kind of autism to be attracted to more realistic racing games

Some racing games had licensing agreements with car manufacturers for maybe 10-12 years, after which they can no longer sell the game if they do not renegotiate or remove the cars
This also can extend to real racing tracks and obviously music.
You would be hard pressed to find older racing games still on sale besides the physical copies

Car licensing can get autistic, its not just Japs.
For example in NFS Hot Pursuit and High Stakes, you could not use Ferrari and I think Mercedes cars in Police Pursuit mode because neither brand wanted to be associating their cars with criminals.
I think same thing why Honda and Nissan are MIA in Most Wanted.
Then there is the notorious example of only EA having an exclusivity deal with Porsche for like 15 years, thats why other games had to use RUF for Porsche stand in.
Hot Pursuit (2010) Remaster lost some cars because they could not renegotiate, so obviously

Nissan was on board for MW, Black Box just couldnt find the time to add their cars to the game, a full sheet of scripts to incorporate a 350Z into the game are present in its files.

How?
Just port the shit over from UG2 lmao.

That aside, it took till NFS ProStreet for NFS to get an actually good car list, every single one before always had something missing.

>> No.24933083

>>24932782
Anon, Black Box wasnt as big of a team as you think it was and EA forced them to work on multiple games at the same time. MW2005 was in development at the same time as Underground 1 and continued to do so through its sequel, with Carbon also being on production somewhere in between. Their most crowded year arguably was 2007, having to work on an NBA game, finishing and realising Skate 3 and ProStreet at the same time, a lot of Black Box's output was rushed even through their golden years, all the way to the end.

Clearly haven't played enough racing games, while I agree if it is vs other people, most racing games are ludicrously easy vs AI once you get the hang of it. 15 years ago I used to play endurance races in GT4 to relax, as you could get into a rhythm and just multitask with listening to uni lectures or whatever. If you have an autoscrolling chat window beside the game footage I am sure you could get into a similar sort of comfortable flow.

I would love to see the chuubas I watch playing a racing game, like NFS and older racing games from the PS1/2 era. The only time I saw it was when Miko played Asetto Corsa and Forza Horizon 5, Aqua played Need for Speed: Payback and Korone played Gran Turismo 2, never seen any other holomember playing a racing game. I think most of them are not interested in cars and don't like this type of niche and I also think the main problems are the permissions with the publishers and maybe the licensing with car brands that can be a pain in the ass.
