I'm beginning to warm up to the idea of networking. I have really good IRL social skills but never managed to make online friendships before, so networking as someone who just started being "content creator" this year has been something I've been a little unreasonably apprehensive about.

I think there are a non negligible amount of people who think something along the lines of “I wanna stream but I don’t know I people will watch”. This is absolutely ngmi mentality. You must stream and be confident and put something out. If people watch it that’s absolutely great and you know your strategy is working. If no one watches, it’s a learning experience. I really enjoyed streaming at first and did it for long hours but I feel like it's become more stressful lately which is why my stream times have become more and more infrequent. i agree with that, but changing / improving something that is so innate such as a personality is a pretty difficult thing to do. and it rarely ever is something you just practice like you'd would other skills.

your personality forms by experience, so the best thing you can do for your personality is doing something that has nothing to do with streaming. go to an event, talk to random strangers there, get out of your comfort zone. you'll not only have cool stories to tell but you get more into the habit of interacting and you'll grow as a person.

bodega talks sometimes about hanging out with her oomfies getting dinner or just hanging out and i noticed myself when i come back from staying with a friend for a week or two i have hours of stories and little tidbits to share and i can have more interesting conversations. i personally just need more of these experiences. and i believe a lot of people here struggle with that sort of natural growth either due to their own conditioning or due to their circumstances. it's easier to focus on "what game do i stream" and i believe streaming itself can be an experience you can draw growth from but it's a lot less binary than people make it out to be.
