It's primarily about gathering "fame"/traction into a large sum so you can cash it all in on a bigger debut and propel yourself further than had you just went live silently one day with DEBUT in the title - having a big day-one stream can get you a lot of visibility from other vtubers and communities so you can grow a lot in a single stream. There are two common problems with this though, one being that most of these vtweeters don't really have a strong hold on streaming and being entertaining, and their ability to retain viewers will likely be complete shit and barely anyone will come back for their subsequent streams and their debut will largely end being a big advertisement for how boring they are. The converse problem is when they're eternally pre-debut, which happens because they're comfortable just LARPing about having content with other vtweeters and feeling popular, without ever wanting to bother to put in the real effort to make real content.
