How do you pick what games to stream, and what days/time?

I had a disappointing stream, numberwise, yesterday. But it was a Wednesday, which always tends to be a lower-viewer stream than any other day; and it was one of my generally less popular games. To be honest, getting the CCV I did was a bit of a surprise.
I could possibly stream Euro morning hours (previous two hours) if I got up early, but that's then Asia hours, so I don't think it'll help much?

For games, I've found a few that tend to have higher numbers, and I'm swapping them in on the days that work better, but new games can be a wild shot in the dark.

When it comes to times, pick something you can do consistently. NA prime time is when there are the most viewers but, there is the most competition. About 4-5 hours after prime time is good if you are a networking god and can bait raids. The most important thing is consistency. Your viewers have a cycle how they live their lives and you want to be part of it.

As for games there is only really three factors. 1) how much interest you have in the game 2) how much interest other people have in watching the game 3) how many other people are currently streaming it. Usually when you are small and just beginning I find older story-based games with large fandoms are a good category to stream. When you get big enough you can pretty much stream whatever and be in the top 10 so the discoverability matters less.

If you don't talk much and don't sing then your voice might just be weak. You might need to do exercises to train your voice and breath control which you can just search for on Youtube. A lot of those voices are really weird and have signs of "scrunching" up their voice and sometimes using programs to augment certain parts. A lot of vtubers are failed voice actors and have at least some training in that regard, maybe even years. To say most can do it is overestimating how easy it is to do retard voices which low effort weebs associate with anime for some reason.

If you guys could update OP add this collab Google Doc that'd be nice. Quite a few people here utilized it when I was actively posting it so I think the idea has merit. I admin a well established Discord server where the only rules are sfw, no 3DPD, and common sense drama-in-DM's but I'd have to set up a VTuber section. I'm a Twitch hater but there's not a single reason to stream on YouTube. The discoverability is non-existent. No one is able to find your stream and you have to go the extra mile to find vtubers that are live and if you don't use seo at all, your stream won't even show up under vtuber. Also only Holo/Niji size channels stream on YouTube, most smaller vtubers stream on twitch which makes it way easier to connect and get raided/hosted.

If you're curious I haven't streamed in over a month because of menhera, mostly drug abuse and binging. I also haven't taken my meds in 6 days. But hey, I seriously respect anyone who has the courage to talk about their recovery and problems Live. It's incredibly "genuine and warm" as long as you can keep it positive (or catch yourself).

Can't say I'm particularly invested in /asp/ anymore though. Beyond collabing with and commissioning art from my oishi Mashimyu and other functional non-toxic anons.

Oh yeah, if I do start accommodating an /asp/ie Discord, Minecraft server, and Collabs... mmmm I really can't be bothered to shill it every thread. The crabs and toxins are not worth putting up with on a daily, continuous basis. Especially after what happened with Mashimyu I have no need to thicken my skin further, my priority is physical recovery and then to stream more again. I'm pretty sure those of you that were willing to or interested already messages me or used the Google Doc, it's not hard to find. I have zero need for online anonymity and schizos, I'll come by occasionally to announce projects and resources outside of OP though. Keep staying strong, anon.

Also the listfag is on the right track, but would be able to help the /asp/ community much more by hosting active collabs or making Discord/Minecraft servers. I respect listfag's diligence. I get 200~1000 views. Pic related was ~100 live with ~30 ccv or something and it's at 350 views now. Honestly there's no one way to stream. If you have no friends or pre-established community/identity and people looking for you then yeah I'd recommend Twitch honestly. The biggest thing that appeals to me with Twitch are Raids but if you rely on your streamer friends for viewers and exposure hmm.... in-house it's great.

Have your parents, church, and strangers on the street seen your twitch though? My content is largely discussion/podcast focused. I don't expect my viewers to just sit there from start to finish, especially with ~20 minute average view duration. I'm actually friends with my regular viewers, it really works. The only discoverability I'm concerned about is like once you find me, you're hooked for life. My viewers find me thru direct YouTube notifications on their own without me having to do anything that really... means a lot to me.
