Hello there /nasfaqg/, Mystery Heimin also known as MystHei here! I've been pondering for a bit whether or not I should start living up to my name, and would now like to formally throw the idea out there to gauge interest. There won't be any sort of poal, in part due to how easy they are to manipulate so it feels a bit pointless. Mostly though, I just want to see how people feel about things not just pure numbers.
The first idea is some general idea of murder mysteries. I would present you with a written scenario intended to be solved by anons without any questions being asked after the post necessary. The general idea being that anons would try and work out where the discrepancies to pick out who is lying and did it (with it not necessarily having to be murder!)
The second idea being picked up because the other heimin did it and it being suggested last night, that being ciphers. This would be a simple activity of trying to solve the cipher to uncover a message of some sort. Frankly I have no idea what the messages would be but it sounded like anons had fun with it before so I'm open to it and it fits in theme.
The third was an ARG, and frankly this one I'm extremely unsure and nervous about. In this anons would follow a breadcrumb trail of ciphers, images, websites, and many such things to uncover the story behind whatever events are supposedly taking place. It would be a lot of work and be a huge undertaking, and I'd have to learn a lot of things in short order to keep anons intrigued. Of course, it also loses appeal when people know for certain it isn't real.
If any of these sound fun and like a good activity for anons to participate in, please reply to this post with your thoughts. Anything I should change that I have already written down? I'm trying to be very flexible with this.
As well, I'm open to any ideas that anons have for things that I could do. I've been feeling somewhat inspired lately and I feel like it is partially due to the thread and game, so I want to give back in some way. Again, if all of this sounds incredibly dumb and off-topic and should go die, feel free to call me a fag. I'm open to all feedback.

Thanks for gathering these ideas Heimin, glad to see you're willing to put a lot of effort into your posts. I really like the murder mystery idea. It's fresh, something that hasn't been done in this thread before. Maybe you could involve the holos in your murder mysteries, that would make it a bit more fun and would give way to some quality shitposting and banter. I would stay away from directly involving players in your narrative though, just stick to the holos if you decide to include them. Or not, I'm not your boss. You do you.
Ciphers would also be fun, although the novelty of them has somewhat been lost. I think we've had four? Five of them? Maybe more? They'd still be fun though like I said, so don't write them off completely.
As for the ARG idea, I kind of agree with you. That's a lot of work, especially for one person. I'd be inclined to help out if you asked, but even then it'd still be a huge amount of work. I feel like sticking to short-term & fun events is much more realistic. Still a nice idea though! Just try not to start things that you may not be able to finish.
It's wonderful to hear that you've been feeling inspired, but don't work so hard that it burns you out. Work a bit, relax a bit, enjoy your time.

I in no way had any plans to include players in the scenarios. While I briefly considered it, it was quickly and swiftly shelved for all the problems it could cause. I think including holos would be the best solution (also would relate it to this thread in some way), but I have also considered using fanbase names. That one is also a bit dangerous but it might be fine here and there.
I suppose I shouldn't completely right them off, but truthfully the idea I was most excited about seems to be getting the most response.
Getting help for the ARG could definitely make it much more doable, but there's only so many people in the thread and I'd want everyone to have fun. I'm attached to the idea in part because of one I participated in on /a/ nearly a decade ago that I had a lot of fun in [/spoiler]and embarrassed myself with[/spoiler], but it might be something to look at later when I have more knowledge.

Ciphers are definitely not needed and I'll be honest, probably more hassle than they are worth, especially for someone who's newer to them as you need to make them solvable to someone looking for it while also still making it hard (The other Heimin learnt this firsthand with their first real one with the autotrader.), definitely focus on the mystery first if you're serious about it. The Summer Games form has ran its course and I'd like to announce some results.

The form gained a total of 26 replies, 2 of which had to be discarded due to being either confirmed double replies from a same person his other reply was still counted, it was an honest mistake, or non-replies.

Interest in the event was overwhelmingly positive, with 19 out of the 24 respondents answering "yes". From the remaining 5, 3 were something along the lines of "probably", 1 was just "dota", which I decided to interpret as "maybe", and 1 was negative, although I suspect in a non serious manner.

From the activities provided by the form, "Anime Music Quiz" got the most votes at 15, followed shortly after by csgo and OP making contest, both of which received 14 votes. Small Mahjong Tournament and First to 10mil race both got 13 votes. Individual mahjong games got the least votes at 11.

For suggested activities, the form got a total of 13 + 16 13 on the first question mentioning activities, 16 on the other responses, with many of the responses mentioning multiple possible ideas.
The most suggested activity was some sort of a race, with suggestions referring either to racing games such as mario kart, or minecraft races/competitions.
Other highly suggested activities were Dota with 3 + 2 suggestions, and "something in minecraft" with 3 + 1 suggestions.

As for the length of the event, 14 respondents answered with "one weekend", 8 responded with "two weekends", 1 responded with "dont mind", and 1 response had to be discarded.
