Sounds really stupid or forced on it's face but in reality the concept works surprisingly well. I think it's reminiscent of a good creepypasta -- something familiar and "Clean"/seiso suddenly acting in a way breaking free of it's constraints. As cringy as most of those creepy pastas are, I do think the concept is a legitimate, and, at times, great medium of horror.

As an example this comes into that valley of unsettling/odd/unusual that feels weird. Maybe not quite horror, but the breaking of the usually well presented person you know, their head floating up and down, is definitely quite something, especially when it's so out of left field.
I can't claim this is horror without pushing the point so unreasonably hard as to make it cringe. But I think, if you're being fair, even a critic could acknowledge the possible value of seeing one's understanding broken.

The realm of V-Tubing allows a disregard for rules of reality while still offering a very human and compelling experience.
I think there could be some great horror to arise from the medium in the future. Sadly I think much of this horror will not be acted but real, from people with mental illness.

I live with a schizophrenic who is tortured daily by those that share the person's body, so I've already come to accept that such people exist. Early in Haachama's horror arc when no one was sure if she's ok or not, was, in my opinion the best part of the whole story arc. To have such a mental illness and still function in a way that allows one to create entertaining vtuber content, would probably be exceedingly rare. The only thing I find sad about this thought is that it would be too much to handle for your average onions consuming, normie and would probably find a home on lesser known platforms after an ugly cancellation.

Unless you have a lover or supporter who can help you. Some people look down upon such things, but it has happened before for other mediums.
I figure if the society at large pays to keep these people alive we should enjoy a look into their mind, even if enjoy is the wrong word. Some of the most beautiful things come from distressed, unusual, broken, or even insane minds.

maybe this isn't what you're looking for, but mashiro is my favorite horror vtuber. he's got interesting lore and is really good at keeping his content balanced in that it's creepy and edgy but it never goes too far. also his singing is really good.

i think his background in forensics is actually really cool. though sometimes his stories make me genuinely worried for him if i'm being honest. i hope that for his sake a lot of his darker stories are just him playing his character. video related

Amemori Sayo from Nijisanji barely ever streams but she does some experimental / unsettling / horror influenced content like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHH2Gs7Z8JQ

Love this girl. Unironically one of my favorite vtuber from Nijisanji even though there is not much translated clips of her.
Part of her appeal to me is her mysterious personality, she doesn't stream much but has a loyal fanbase. Her new 2.0 model reveal stream is also good https://youtu.be/pKE7iMKJGHg
