I think the fact that she started with MGR makes it more entertaining, because she fangirls over Raiden, too. Like when Raiden gets the sword in MGS2. To players at the time, it was kind of just a cool nod to Grey Fox, but to her, it was this sort of reverse-nostalgia of seeing Raiden's origin story to becoming a ninja.
