Rational people don't dislike things BECAUSE they're mainstream. Often with popular video games, movies, or other media, certain things are sacrificed in attempt to appeal to the broadest demographic possible. For video games, as an example, Elder Scrolls removed a lot RPG elements in its newer games to appeal to the mainstream. Which is why enthusiasts, ie /v/, will generally dislike it and gravitate towards less popular games that can offer those mechanics.

Gura appeals to lolicons, Ina appeals to artists, and normalfags as a whole are filtered out by the anime and the whole female streamer thing.
