Luknight Lore: The nature of Himesama >>22935204

Luna-hime is divine being that watches over Candy Kingdom, but also exists in physical form as the kingdom's monarch. Every 100 years, a Luknight couple gives birth to a baby with pink hair (not that uncommon in the kingdom) and heterochromatic, pink green eyes (exclusive to Himesama). This baby will quickly mature (over 2 months) into a new Himesama, seemingly born with the knowledge and tastes of Luna. They will stay in their form for the rest of their life, as the forever 0-year old princess, and rule from the castle, though only when she wishes. As 100 years approaches, the strength of her mortal Luman vessel will give out, and Luna-hime will announce a 'Grand Nap', where she will lie down and leave her body. This will cause it to rapidly age, and then dissolve into sugar (Eating this sugar is forbidden, it is used exclusively for embalming dead Council Knights of high esteem). So begins the centennial "Bitter Times", a half year period where Luknights wait for their princess's reincarnation, and for the cycle to restart.

Historical periods in Candy Kingdom are often named after the family that gave birth to the Hime vessel that reigned. Strangely, it doesn't seem that Hime 'takes over' an existing baby to incarnate in our world; a handful of cases of immaculate Luna conception exist. The mother of the Hime vessel is often revered, and allowed to live in a separate estate in Nanonanora, the Capital City.

Right now, the current Himesama vessel is 80 years into her reign. At this period, Council Knights are discussing what the era monument will be, and where in the kingdom it will be placed.

It's telling that both times when she shares a room with Susilo, the first thing she commented on is him not taking advantage of her, isn't it?
>/hfz/
There's only one place to go when even /meat/ is not enough to sate your bloodlust, after all. Not to mention, I always imagine if /hfz/ has a philosophy, it would be reach heaven through violence, which fits with her original idea to find a place in this world for herself by winnowing and cutting away anything she feel is hindering her.
>scars
The idea's that she lost her ability to reproduce alongside a good chunk of her small intestines back in /hfz/ (it wasn't intentional, but it's kind of messed up if you connect it with spoiler). Intan, by virtue of being female (and possibly some degree of medical experience implied by her herb-making), realised what Sipak was hinting at, while Susilo's clueless as always. Hey, at least it means the nutting's consequence-free!
>dream sequence
It's kind of a foreshadowing of Sipak's past, although I guess it isn't really a foreshadowing if it's explained in the same chapter 2000 words later.

Such is the life for gladiators, and is why people probably laughed when wee Signy the squinney signed up for it. She probably just kept bashing heads in until she's taken in. Yo, I'm here. Hmm, I think if I wanted to prodecurally generate dynamic clouds I would either use a 2D procedural texture applied on a sphere, and maybe have a couple of those layered to have a depth effect, or perhaps use a volumetric effect. I don't think there's functionality geonodes would provide here that those more efficient solutions wouldn't. Making the clouds spin is really easy and would look nice though! I'll try that on the next render with the latest map.

Yeah, that's kinda two ways to do it, an exaggerated, more figurative planet alla Astroneer with amplified topography and simplified features, or a more realistic to-scale planet alla Space Engine. For now I'm going for the realistic look, in usual it's easier to go from high detail to more stylized than the other way around.

Good point, though to be fair, there are plenty of cases of people being presumed dead only to turn up later very much alive. In the old days they even added bells to graves because coroners were shit and sometimes people would end up getting buried alive. So I guess we can chalk cases like that up to the town thinking someone died in the wilderness and burning all their stuff, with the legally dead person eventually making their way back to civilization afterwards, sometimes with backup copies of their works and sometimes not.

Less considered heretical thots, more seen as an anomaly compared to Rosebuta culture. Rolis are only meant to have sex once, after all. Since Rosebutas see Risuner women as the counterpart to Rolis, they're just confused as to why they're still alive after breeding.
Also some Rosebutas would definitely be willing to leave with the Risuners, after they've gotten permission from their leader and such. While most of them have done their best to remain impartial, there's still a few that have taken a real liking to the Risuners.

Winardi logs chapter 1.

Well it seems we can hold back on our exploratory fleet to /uuu/ for now. Something very unexpected happened and were actually glad it did. It turns out that a bunch of knights and other people from /luna/ have come to us instead.
As captain of the Silvanus fleet this is rather funny. We immediately threw away all our cold weather gear into the storages of our pinisi to greet these so called luknights.
My god they looked magnificent. Very shiny armor, with beautiful weapons. But what struck me the most of the gorgous gemstone within the armor of the few that had it. Ive been instructed by someone i cant even talk about in these logs in case these were to get stolen that gemstone collection is of high importance.

These luknights offered us this sweet food. And my god was it really sweet. We then proceeded to exchange food for nuts as per usual and tried to communicate to the best of our abilities. Language is always a pain in the ass but I could tell by the looks on their faces that they noticed our intense stares at the gemstones.
These luna people had a few strange traditions but it is to be expected. Some of them started chanting naaaa for some reason. Im guessing this must be some sort of prayer to their goddess back home? Cant really make it out yet but this is my guess.

Now something that shocked me was their supposed absolute refusal to exchange their nuts with us. The food was no problem but these knights just wouldnt take off their pants. After hearing success of the deadbeats and the kronies loving us, why wont the luknights? I decided it may be for the best since either though its culture to us that they may not reproduce sexually? Or maybe theyre saving up for someone? I cant fathom what theyre thinking.
Despite all the men and the girls doing some fun tail wagging it just wouldn't work. Oh well, at least we were able to get some sweet food. Now all I have to do is learn to ask them how much that prett gem is going to cost. They seemed hesitant to give it to me but im sure enough nuts will suffice. They're playing hard to get like crazy.

Once again we seemed to have found a people devoted to their goddess. When we told them about risu they seemed to be somewhat interested. However I could tell that they are sworn to their Luna. Very respectable and relateable. I like these guys.
Last note. Even without the pretty gem their armor is very VERY shiny and tough. I wonder if they would be willing to do some practice fighting with us. Surely such heavy armor would make them hard to hit but they must be slow. Its a wonder theyre able to stand around all day in that hunk of metal. Well regardless I definitely look forward to seeing what happens next.

Bumping with my writing: https://rentry.org/kaqbp
I decided that I deserve a little treat, hence the Indulgence sub-chapter where Sipak has a little... chat with the captured pirate captain. As the warning suggests, it's a relatively short and smutty (in the /sbg/ sense) chapter with no relation to the main plot. (Those dates are according to warosu, let me know if they don't sound right)
First Hololive General on /jp/: 2020-02-11
First Hololive Global on /vt/: 2021-02-02
Current date: 2022-04-23
/jp/ thread ----357 days---- /vt/ thread ----445 days---- Current date
Let us say the /hlg/ empire consolidated/was founded at this first /jp/ thread.
Let us then say that the current day /hlg/ is akin to the 13th century byzantine empire, it started out as this huge monolithic super power but is now a much smaller territory, a fraction of its old size.
Let's map the founding of Rome (753 BC) to the Byzantine Empire at a time where it was quite smaller (say, 1265 AC) to our thread history dates.
That's a duration of 2018 years.
If we work it out, this would put the first /jp/ thread at 898 BVT, the first /vt/ thread at 1 VTE, and the current day at 1120 VTE.
Thus, I propose those dates.
Posting this in the thread for discussion (especially suggestions from nijifriends) before submitting it as a vote.

Yeah, I considered using the Christmas miracle (2017-12-25) as the first date instead, but then we get into murkier parts of our IRL history and I'm not sure what parallel I'd use then. Founding of Alba Longua? But that isn't really as good a parallel to nomadic people taking notice of Hololive like the Miracle was, and the period between Alba Longua and Rome is proportionally a lot smaller than the time between the Miracle and /hlg/. I'm open to suggestions though.

Well, the last time we saw her, she's not bound and with a crappy paddle while her ship is in sight, so presumably she can get back to it after a while and get some relief if she still feels blue-balled by the milk. Thanks for the OP pic for the next thread. As for /meat/ priestesses, I don't really know if we ever established how they look like apart from "mimicking the /meat/ vtubers". One idea I have when researching for my writing's that since the climate and ecozone for /meat/ is suitable for anil pea, /meat/ might be a major exporter of indigo dye, so a colour like that might be used prominently in /meat/ for dyeing (apart from the more ubiquitous red and black, I reckon).

If you go for red and black, that's when the Flesh&Bone conspiracy gets really deep.

So I got a response not too long ago. One poster wants Sanalites to thrive in the world. Now my question is can Sanalites thrive in isolationism or would we need to thrive by interacting with natives of the world. One of my ideas for compromise is to adopt native mothers and children with Sanalite fathers as Sanalites via naturalization rather than executing them. Which means Sanalites that want native partners must convert them to follow Sana. Sadly this is why Sanalites cannot nut in Risuners as converting Risuners' religion is against the law.

Exactly
Regarding colour choice, indigo dye itself is pretty valuable and distinct, although it can also be used as a basis for other related pigments. The most famous one is probably the Maya blue, which is a bright blue dye known for its durability, and is used by Precolumbian mesoamerican culture for sculpture, painting, drawing (including the famous Florentine Codex and Maya Codex) and body paints (including human sacrifice - one of the things that Mel Gibson film actually got right). Supposedly modern recreation also leads to other colours like the Maya violet.
>Dyes we know the Maya have included red (from trees and bugs), yellow (blackberry plants), green (avocado), blue (the aforementioned Maya blue), indigo (anil), purple (blackberries again, also likely can be produced from anil), and black (coal, also some seeds). Brown dye (from cacao) might also have been used.
As for garment style... I don't know. I don't really have any fashion sense, and our vtubers' clothing style tend to be a bit too modern for this setting. When it comes to religious outfit, they seem to be relatively plain from what I can tell, although they do often have a sick cape as well as precious material like turquoise, jade, gold, and seashells (might actually be a pretty practical choice given the hot weather). That said, we do know that Aztec elite warriors have full bodysuits made of animal hide, leather, cotton, and sometimes feathers (Aztec founding myth also involves one made of human skin from a princess to dance before her father, which got the Aztecs chased out of his city and into a swampy lake). Both warriors and priests have elaborate headgears, though. For /meat/, we know at least warriors are known to wear human skin masks, so perhaps /meat/ helmets would assume the form of human head/skull as well, maybe with additional bits too.

>>22984947
Given the low population, I think Sanalites would have to interact and mingle with the natives to thrive (or maybe even survive for long, depending on their genetic composition). On a meta level, isolationists also aren't very fun to play as (as /inf/ learnt), which I think might be one of the reasons the lockdown arc killed a lot of interest.

Another alternative to the mother not having a Sanalite child is abortion. Though that's a slippery slope to using abortion as a contraceptive.

Best thing to do is to teach Risuners and Kronies how to use condoms to minimize unwanted pregnancies.

Nah, it was funny Kiki calling Sana an abbo. Generals are made of the thread's posters. /pyon/ being xenophobic to holos we get. Saying nobody watches Sana because she never streams made Sanalites butthurt. So /pyon/ is shitlisted from trade treaties. If you want /nasa/ goods then go with third party vendors. We have (or had) a /nasfaq/ Sanalite merchant who operates as a third party. He's the one in charge of securing deals to operate the bakeries and shipyard independently from /nasa/'s government. In /nasa/'s compromise to the Grand Directive we're going to have resources run by independent companies under /nasa/ law for safety and security. This way companies can sell exports as third party vendors.

TL;DR, /pyon/ can buy and sell goods from and to /nasa/ via third party vendors. The difference is the costs of goods is set by the vendor rather than /nasa/ itself.

Something like that is actually present in established lore, funnily enough. The default clothing material for /meat/ is likely something similar to linen, although instead of flax it would likely be made of hemp, ixtle, and (in particular for seafarers) sisal. Cotton might be present as well, but the high demand for labour in its production means it's probably reserved for the affluent and/or those with needs to travel to colder regions. It would likely take the form of tunic and loinclothes beneath most other clothes. More padded and resiliant variants of it also exist as part of armour, basically the same as the European gambeson.
As for armour, /meat/ mostly make use of boiled leather, in particular those coming from human sacrifice (if they can afford it) due to the imbued chuubanite effect. The most common kind of armour in this form would likely be some kind of cuirass (torso armour) reinforced with bones specifically bent for such purposes, as well as metal when even chuubanite bones won't cut it. That said, other pieces of armour can be made in a similar process, so it's possible for someone to be fully decked out for maximum protection.
Priestesses likely won't be too well-armoured, since the only kind of priestess known to have decent combat prowess (those of Comma) also need wiggling space to deploy their vine-tentacles. Then again, hide bodysuits (of humans - especially those made to resemble the enemy gods) would still have a significant morale and psychological impacts, so that might be an option for what they wear to war.

Yeah, I had the vine slinging priestess in mind while writing this, a cool fucking concept. Does chuubanite-less human skin make decent leather IRL? Our skin is a fair bit thinner than a cow's. Then again, I guess you can just layer it.
Also, deadbeat bones conveniently come packed with chuubanite, you guys can just slap them right into an armor with no pre-processing and become a walking heresy.

>> No.22991630

>>22990889
The thinner skin makes them not as durable and strong as cow skin, so it would be worse than mundane leather armour in terms of protection, although the thinner skin (apart from making them good material for lampshades) and better flexibility means you don't get cooked in the bodysuit - it's not like untreated leather of either kind would be useful against blades anyway. That's why historical leather armour is instead made with boiled leather (not actually made by boiling them in water), which made them hard enough to offer some degree of protection. The thinner human skin is still an issue, although not as much once you take into account additional reinforcement like bones and padded material. The main source of protection it offers would be from the enhancing effect of chuubanite, though. It might also have additional effects like protection from pathogens, pain, or even fear as I first wrote about it, but I'm not sure if that's actually something chuubanite can do.
Deadbeat bones are definitely coveted material, so /meat/heads in raids would definitely try to harvest as many of it as possible. Live deadbeats, though, are even better, since we can send them to the fleshwrights to further mould their bones.

Luknights have access to both crossbows and primitive (relative to 2022) rifles. Both shoot hardened sugar bolts/bullets instead of metal. Luknights also have artillery that launches various large candy orbs, particularly molasses inside a thin hard layer, which can make enemies very sticky and slow for Lu-infrantry to easily dispatch. Similary, Lunarmy researchers are looking into ways to raise the freezing point of water at a specific time to freeze foes. The Lunavy has already found success at using salt and sugar to lower the freezing point of water and sail the northern sea. As for a religious class, there are general Lu-bishops and Lu-priests who perform sacred rites and encourage worship of the Hime, and also Nnaaaist monks, who live in the northwest and Nnaaaa over very long periods to commune with the divine aspect of Himesama.

>>23020825
Yes, from the north. It gets pretty cold up there in the winter, and in the summer, boats can harvest from the sea.

>>23029514
Well-liked. Candy Kingdom is in some way or another allied with all of them. When the great dragon passed, there was a national day of mourning, and when she reincarnated, a national festival. Himesama has not commented on kson however, so many Luknights are hesistant to resume alliances. Terms are friendly regardless, however.

>>23030150
Luknights enjoy warm sauna baths, especially in the north. They are nice places to socialize. Some cold baths exist as training exercises for Luknights wishing to improve their resolve, using aforementioned salt and sugar technology to make them below freezing.

Luknight Lore: Flora and Fauna (not that one) of Candy Kingdom

In general, Candy Kingdom is sweet, with more naturally occuring sugar in the plants and animals than in other regions. Crops and meat from livestock all contain a higher sugar content. This is believed to be because of the region's chuubanite, which slowly turns materials around it into sugars and candy, creating mineable underground deposits. This chuubanite-made sugar is ultrafine, actually being light enough to float up with evaporated water and turn the rain and mountain snows slightly sweet. As a result of the sugar everywhere, Luknights have also long ago evolved a very strong resistance to diabetes.

The primary crop of the south river basin province, Lunanora, is a specially bred cold-resistant sugar cane. This particular variant gets its resistance by growing its sugar on the outside as insulation, which ends up making them look like candy canes. This is shaved off by farmer-naitos, and sold as a luxury export as Candy Kingdom's main source of income. Up north, a few of these candy canes can still survive, but it is often too cold even for them to be farmed.

In the southeast province, Walanana, the 'Bunaitos' ranch livestock, mainly domesticated Luboars, and grow onions and herbs for sauces. Cotton candy tumbleweeds and apple trees also grow here, and the 'Bunaitos' who ranch other animals mainly do so for the naturally sweet milk. Candy Kingdom cows' milk also takes on the flavor of what they are fed.

In the southwest province, the economy is overwhelmingly mining based. The region is just too rocky for agriculture of any kind, but thankfully much of the ore is edible candy material. There are also chewy, sweet lichen that resemble gummy candy. These lichen must be trimmed from time to time, as they are known to reanimate corpses of large animals and cause havoc in order to spread itself. The youth are told to be wary of so-called "gummy bears" lurking in the highest regions. Sweet herbs also grow here.

>> No.23056559

>>23056401
Sweet onions? Lunaitos must make some bangin' onion soup. Perfect for those cold nights too.

>> No.23057519

>>23056401
>>22935204

The northwestern and mideastern provinces, Menthora and Ringora, are similarly mountainous. Ringora is a religious Nnaaaist province with some military bases, while Menthora is more a mix of mining and mild agriculture. Many sweet herbs and berries such as mint and cranberries grow here and are harvested. Lollipop-like trees grow here. There are also quite a few lakes in Menthora, where the gummy lichen has been introduced into the lakes, resulting in fishable "Lunish Fish".

The final northeastern province is Nanoramune, where the economy is derived from the northern coast. Fishing, trading, and even a little tourism are the industries here. In terms of life, it's not much different from Menthora, with lollipop trees, berries and herbs. Lu-horses also tend to run wild in the rural areas here, the only wild ones in the Kingdom.

how is this for a basic draft?

/omesis/

A very seperate development from the ancient original Four Kings culture, the Sorority Omega was overlooked in the classic age, but being minor served to be a blessing: After the fall of the Four, the Omegans that descended from the sorority had strayed from the original core of civilization, and thus survived. The Omegans were a learned and inquisitive people, and had a plethora of odd knowledges and sciences they practiced.
Seeing ground-borne life was a bit more savage, The Omegans took to hot air balloning. Their desire to flee into the sky grew, so that in the present, many hot air ballons are clustered together suspending large living platforms underneath. Though this greatly limits what they can develop, they have their hands in every craft they can. Their lighter than air existence means they have to master navigation, weather-lore, as well as ropework and repair.
Being a civilization on the wind, they often journey to the ground for resources. though they can lower ropes, nothing beats findign a moment of peace and open ground to touchdown for a few hours, maybe a day. When on the ground, the Omegan's don't waste time, and will trade or harvest what they need to keep their skyborne civilization going.
The Omegans primarily practice chemistry, woodcrafting, and courier messaging. Their foods are limited to poultry, mushrooms, and whatever grains they can trade from their trips to the ground below. They can grow limited spices and onions in the limited soil troughs onbard the platforms, but most of their serious food has to be taken off the ground or netted from the sea. Culturally, they are resource managers: nothing can be wasted if it can be helped.
The Omegan art of war tends to be minimal. They run from what they can. Their warriors are primarily archers, though they also use smoke and decoys as often as possible. Living onboard an airborne platform restricts heavy weapons and makes armor negligible. On the good side, Omegan arrowheads tend to be really ingenious, often carrying poison, sleep, or some other special quality.

I was envisioning something like OTL-progression with a bit of schizo tech and sci fi thrown in.

First, a Stone Age hunter gatherer period. Humanity and our associate races are seeded upon this world in a primitive, naked state. We did not evolve. A precursor race who is not represented on the world did so for a reason that we would best never confirm. No concept of culture, language in its infancy, bands of more than 30-50 are extremely rare and only truly possible in the most sheltered of the middle-latitude river valleys.

Second, somebody discovers agriculture. Small villages begin arising, but if more than 200-odd people/sapients gather in a place, it's in separate towns and only sparingly. People move out of the river valleys and beaches, with oasis towns and mining camps showing up...

As we enter the Bronze Age and the very first political hierarchies and formal city-states. Sophisticated earthen brick walls ring strong settlements on the plains and valleys, with more mountainous areas relying upon unmortared stone walls defending powerful acropoli. Important states at this time are /ukiyo-e/, /shungo/, /pin-up/, /cartoon/, /live tv/. (These are all precursor mediums to manga and anime, and then vtubing. They do not represent actual threads.) The ethnic groups and their languages in this period no longer exist, they morph, get subsumed and do their own assimilating before we enter our Iron Age.

Massive steppe and overseas migration begins shuffling the socio-linguistic landscape of the world. As our Iron Age begins, the major linguistic families begin forming and the roots of world cultures take their most primordial shape. At the beginning of our "Classical" age, there are four dominant polities. /animango/, /cgi/, /porn/, /celebrities/. As international cross-cultural contact intensifies, the middle classical period sees the big 4 collapse with certain bits of each getting remixed into new forms, and more sophisticated and refined identities. Among the most successful of these are /idols/, /hentai/, /streaming/, /cgl/, and, perhaps most importantly, /vocaloid/. /vocaloid/ = extended high water mark of the Roman Republic here.

As Republic morphs into Empire, we start seeing the early Principate, up until the reign of Nerva. This is the Kizuna Ai, 774, and Four Kings Era. The rest of the classical Roman Empire period until Diocletian = Sora's Christmas Stream up until the announcement of HoloEN. Vandals sack Rome and the last bits of the West are Syagrius and Julius Nepos = the shake up and creation of /vt/, the beginning of our medieval Era.

Next, we have to establish that a society of space-faring humans with an established colonial arm, be it public, corporate, or grassroots (perhaps more than one) exists, spawning that which became /nasa/ and possibly /vspo/ in shipwreck accidents.

Thus is the groundwork for the current state of the world laid.

Do note that in many ways barring whatever the benefits of urbanization (namely a money economy, but Near Eastern conceits of civilization never got a chance to go more than skin deep beyond the Alps and as such, Christianity and heavy infantry are basically the only Greco-Oriental institutions to last beyond the death of Charlemagne) were, the medieval period OTL was more advanced than the classical period. Better plows for agriculture. Feudalism strangely made enforcement of laws easier and defending areas less expensive. Public healthcare in the Islamic world was excellent prior to the collapse of the Mongol Khaganate. Judaism in Khazaria experienced a cultural revival. The Northern European plains and rivers were opened up to more trade as more lands became Christianized and put under the till. We see the rise of the Italian poleis as the kinds of mercantile-focused states that simply did not exist in the classical period. The mobilization of armies for purely religious reasons across the Mediterranean world was a new phenomenon--it takes A LOT of institutional sophistication to get a sedentary people, and the military class of more than one people, to draw steel against another for reasons other than "we want the Saracen's/Frank's pile of shinies".

So, it's not like we need to weave in a societal collapse to mark the transitions between eras and the /jp/ to /vt/ fracturing.

What's your sources of dye? Are there specific animals, plants, and minerals that enable manufacture of specific pigments? How much do they tend to fetch on the open market? What kind of technical expertise is required? How much royal/imperial/federal control is imposed over the natural resources that the dye is dependent upon?

If, say, murex snails (which produce a range of reds and purples), how close to the coast are your factories? Do you have preservation methods outside of chuubanite shenanigans to keep the dyes fresh?

That's what I assume as well!
For the colour of the dyes, I think we have a good chunk of the spectrum covered, although the most notable ones (presumably also the most valuable ones) would be cochineal (crimson - where the red in redcoat is from, funnily enough, although it also comes in other shades of red, pink, orange, and purple depending on the mordant used), wild indigo (indigo, naturally, although it also comes in lighter shades of blue), and logwood (purple in natural form, but most commonly used to make durable black dye with iron as mordant, or purple when mixed with cochineal). Green is also possible by mixing blue and yellow (from marigold, also available) if you want to full Rosemi colour set.
Speaking of which (in a less abrupt transition than my previous post), what kind of cloth does /rose/ use? We know leather is available as a material (not technically cloth, but I digress), but what kind of plant/animal do Rusebuta get their clothes from?

TOO MANY WORDS MY BRAIN HURTS AAAAA
Honestly we have a wide variety of plant life that we grow and probably a good bit of minerals too? I'm not too familiar on what makes different dyes and I think most would just be made like however ancient civilizations did it, we aren't advanced enough for factories or anything. Assuming dyes are kept fresh by being frozen, we'd just store them in the colder parts of our country.
I can't imagine there being much control imposed over resources since /rose/ is pretty happy to share amongst itself when it comes to resources.
Open market I have no idea about, /rose/ is still working off of a trade system with bits of metal or rosestone being the sort of equivalent of coins for them.

MORE WORDS I DON'T UNDERSTAND HELP ME
Those colors sound good to me! Also I might just be retarded and can't tell shit, but are you another Rosebud? I hardly see other anons posting Rosemi here so I'm confused.
/rose/ uses a lot of leathers and wool (usually their own, since Sunwalkers produce it to a degree during winter), but maybe they also use cotton? I'm not to familiar with clothing, to be honest, but there's a good chance they could grow some plants like cotton, in their underground gardens. At the very least they do get leather from polar bears and such, while getting wool from themselves. A bit weird wearing your own fur, but hey it works.

That's the power of autism, my delicious friend.
Dye in their dry form can last for a long time, although it helps to keep them away from direct heat and light. Air-tight containers also help. Given /rose/'s environment, you can probably keep dye fresh for a long time as long as you don't put it directly on a rosestone or something.
As for cotton, it's mostly a tropical plant, which means it can't really tolerate frost, and requires a combination of high temperature (above 15°C for it to sprout, above 20°C for growth, ideally 30-35°C), plenty to light, as well as a lot of water (at least 8,000 l of water per 1 kg of cotton, in some places it can go up to 22,500 l). That's why IRL it's famously grown in southern US (and require a lot of cheap labour to process it), and why (mostly dry) Central Asia's attempt to grow a lot of cotton absolutely screws over the local environment.
For /rose/, though, a combination of rosestone and melted permafrost should allow it to be grown underground, since it's apparently not very demanding in terms of soil nutrients.
I do like Rosemi, but my schedule isn't very compatible with her streaming schedule, so I won't say I'm really a Rosebud

It's meant for /meat/ lore after all
Basically researching ritual scarification for /meat/ risuners led to me thinking if the rest of /meat/ adopted the same technique they used. While it's still aesthetic to have trinkets and (especially) armour made of human body parts, having the chuubanite embedded onto one's skin would be more effective than simply wearing them (and having a permanent pattern allows more functions than simply eating chuubanite meat... although it might be useful in replenishing it), so some people would opt for that process as well. It'll be most useful when it comes to people who need a consistent buff that can't afford to fail (and can afford the procedure), or when they expect the possibility of being caught without them. Some of them might also be useful for individuals who have to travel light and (ironically) not show any /meat/ accessories on them.

>> No.23098995

>>23097351
Last we heard from their rep, they were opting for being on the more fully robotic side of things iirc.
>>23098559
This brings up the question of how long chuubanite lasts. Once it's put to use in the human body, would it be a permanent boost or would it only last XX years before becoming an inert rock weighing you down?

>> No.23099233

>>23098995
Based on established chuubanite properties, they'll naturally lost their power over time (obvious faster when more frequent use), so unless you're shoving very large chunks into the body, it likely won't be permanent. Depending on use case, though, some might be long enough for the entire career. Otherwise, they'll need to reinsert the chuubanite-enriched material inside them again (redo tattoo or cut open the scars - the former is probably more frequent since tattoo tend to have less inserted substance than, say, hypertrophic scar caused by packing) if they want to continue harnessing the benefits.
Another possible route I can think of would be eating chuubanite-infused material and letting it get into your system to replenish the used chuubanite juice or something. Kind of like how certain body parts of yours are more likely to accumulate things like iodine and lead, but actually helpful in this case.

>> No.23099340

>>23099233
not that anon, but how about the scars are just glyphs, so they allow for more programmability, but the best way to administer it is still orally.

>> No.23099604

>>23099340
The nature of glyphs is somewhat ambiguous in the rentry - we know it being inscribed on chuubanite allows specific functions when activated, but we don't know if it has to be inscribed directly on the chuubanite or not (such as the case when the chuubanite is in your system). We also don't know if you can arrange the chuubanite into the glyphs themselves (as in the case for my proposed chuubanite tattoo/scar). I personally interpret it as that the glyph must be on the chuubanite somehow, either carved on it or made in its form (basically like electric circuits or Minecraft redstone).
As for how to replenish used chuubanite (or its juice), I did suggest that eating chuubanite might do that, which can make the tattoo/scars functional longer. That said, in such case, I think it's probably still a relatively slow process, so while a minor passive buff can be sustained indefinitely through regular ingestion, you'll still need to redo it if you burn through the power too quickly for your body to absorb and deliver the chuubanite back to them. I think it poses a nice balance for the system while also fitting with /meat/'s theme.

I specifically mention factories because the production of dye DID require massive factories with the ability to process tens of thousands of pounds of raw material for a relatively small finished dye mass--all to a precise formula. These were present before the days of Alexander the Great, and the ancients did have methods for "this is renewable but a slow hassle", and "fuck it, just crush the damn stuff even if it's a one-shot", which, apparently, requires more biological knowledge than you think. We've only JUST rediscovered the specific blue dye the Torah apparently prescribes for clerical garments, and the specific formulas the pre-Columbian Nahua and the pre-1204 Greeks liked to use for those "imperial" purple garments--they required knowledge of how to process two different kinds of snails!

Factories in the pre-industrial sense simply refer to a large, often-walled compound dedicated to processing a single product or small range of closely related products. Even if it's just buying it up from locals and selling it to buyers back in Europe Nutmeg and mace in the East Indies. Slaves in the Senegambia. Iron in the Baltic. The Dutch, I think, set up a onions sauce factory in Japan. Jewels or opium in India. So on and so forth. Even the rather primitive Bronze Age tribes of Sardinia in their nuraghes may have had such factories for dye production. We know the Minoans probably incorporated sea snail farming into their dye factories.

Dye has the potential to be a very high-powered and sophisticated pre-industrial sector of your economy with extensive documentation on both the societal and economic impact it has.

We over at /pcg/+/clg/ kind of took the alt-Byzantines stance. But history is playing out slightly differently for THIS ersatz Byzantium. In this world, after /clg/ got pressed on all sides like the Roman Empire of the 12th and 13th centuries did, our equivalent of George Mouzalon *won*. The regional aristocrats got completely clamped by a revived thematic army of native soldiery lead by a meritocratic officer corps, and sweeping proto-modern reforms got put through. The Empire reunifies a bit on schedule and eventually reclaims the heartland equivalent of Hellas+Macedonia+Anatolia+Albania+Antioch+Bulgaria.

You guys over at /tsun/ might be closer, perhaps, to late-Tang China? Or pre-100-years-war France? Whatever's left after the shakeup = Ile d'France. Yeah. Mesoamerican cultures are known to use murex snails for purple dye, and Maya/Aztecs might have access to two kinds of them from both coasts of the isthmus (Plicopurpura patula and Plicopurpura pansa), although there're apparently some disagreement on which one (if not both) they use for their dye. I expect a more historical Byzantium scenario for /tsun/ unfortunately. But the main thing that really made me think of the fall of Rome and specifically the western states was the fact that they all still felt somewhat unified by the idea of Rome, even if it was gone. The talents that left Tsunderia aren't on bad terms so there is still that idea there. That's the feeling among /tsun/ at least. >We intend on keeping the thread as-is apart from maybe a name change even if the company just dissolves. Not sure what kind of implications that would have for this thread's worldbuilding, I was just trying to throw out an approximate example.

Maybe less of a warlord-era and more of a parliament/senate collapse?
I mean, the chuubas are gods in a pantheon so in this scenario a peak in heretical activities

I think it's more like a collapse of central government without the breakaway states actually being at each other's throats. Historical examples are rare because usually the former doesn't happen without the latter. I guess the closest would be how the British Empire gradually transform into the Commonwealth? Not sure if there are RL examples of monarchies imploding into a federation of something

Yea the Commonwealth might be a good example but even then doesn't quite get it right just since even the Commonwealth at least pretends to have the same Queen and such.

If we're going down the heresy route then I guess it would be fragmentation into individual cults based on the fact that the head diety, Urara, just up and vanished. But because the cults were all friendly with each other, there's no real reason to not continue cooperation and friendly relations for mutual defense. And no one inside /tsun/ would want to mess with Amiya's /meat/-tier cult anyway.

New meat...
Didn't know Amiya actually has a cult. Is she actually /meat/-related or just fellow cult leaders?

She does /meat/ baits, like Gura and Mumei talking about eating people
But not full out fetish

Amiya's cultists already have outposts in /vrt/ and Anya-Petra.
Those ships are invasion or colonization ships not refugees or immigrants.
>>23127380
Amiya doesn't explicitly do anything /meat/ related but her fans make it seem like it. Both in the sense of wanting to beat and eat Amiya but also to be beaten and eaten by Amiya. They briefly even mentioned all fighting each other just for the chance to fight Ami and probably be killed by her. Ami might also browse the threads and lean into some things the thread talks about.
