Getting beat for nonsense reasons was pretty normal. Physical abuse for not wanting to eat, not taking out the trash, being annoying, locking yourself in the bathroom. Destruction of property, toys, books, and so on too. Being told that the police will lock you up if child services come and you will never escape. Psychological abuse, being put down, told you can't learn or go to college.

This was all normal for family, friends, school teachers sometimes too. My parents are divorced and both did abusive things. They all think they're good people though. It's only zoomers that think it's unreal.
