Assuming that's true, I fail to see why cached results ends up showing as spikes. If the chart shows a stairs pattern with no changes of query result between some measure of interval then I agree the culprit is due to cached results, but what we have here are spikes that alternate between high and lows of about a semi-consistent amount of ccv as amplitude.
Despite that, I don't completely deny sawtooth as a result of some kind of a bug considering what happened with the barcoding a few months ago. I just feel that there are other, more probable causes that can explain such phenomenon

Her streams does have jaggedness though it doesn't have fixed interval nor a semblance of consistent amplitude. Not saying it's botted or otherwise, but a sawtooth pattern with fixed interval and semi-consistent amplitude like pic related is more likely to be botted than hers.

Nobody has said or thought that it was until people suspected that Luxiem's fujos were botting big events and why would lately be so low her CCV compared to the CCV she had before getting sawtooth (I know she is culled af but let's stick to the data we have) when she is arguably the Vtuber with the biggest engagement and numbers in literally every single media site, graph or whatever you want to compare if she is getting botted?

The charting of sites like vrabi and whatnot are done from just pulling from the youtube API. If you were insistent enough on testing this you could pull that data and chart it via excel or any other program.
Then you test the bots on an EMPTY STREAM where no-one is going to get fucked over if the account gets flagged/banned by youtube.

to begin with, the argument that a sawtooth line on the graph, regardless of the line being in a general state or inclining or reclining is a sign of "smart" botting is completely retarded. you are basically saying that whatever they are using to bot is capable of adjusting to both how many bots are culled every interval and how many bots will not be immediately parsed as viewers, then adding the same amount and more for a general incline, while also keeping the same rules for general reclines thrown into the middle of the stream to seem believable.

It's sus, but I'll be honest, I think it's just Youtube's stupid verification combined with high VPN usage resulting in fuckiness.
We know the chink fujos use VPNs, they have to otherwise they can't watch shit on YT. Combine that with oddness about Youtube's CCV (we know it's a clusterfuck of a bunch of things) and you very well could end up with artifacts like that.
Unfortunately, unless you can bring up evidence that someone said they're viewfarming or something, all you can say is "That looks sus" and have to leave it at that, as much as it grates my own nerves.

There are probably services that behaves that way, but revisiting the stream also increases the vod views (which is the more marketable metric to the regular youtubers) even more so if they are visited by a different device everytime.

>>22912957
See above, most of these bots are used for vod views since few does Livestream on YT and even fewer cares about live ccv. The services that does this slightly expands their market to those few people while maintaining the same tools and infrastructure

>>22912966
I agree, not saying all spikes are bots. Just the one with fixed interval and semi consistent amplitudes

>>22912996
The idea is to increase your perceived audience 'organicly', by that it meant not a one off 10k view spike that can be easily detected by both your audience or YT as spam. If you need more ccv then you'd have to get a larger order.

I'll kindly assume newfag, and not falseflag. Plus, I'm really bored tonight, so here goes.

The main reason people discredit fixed interval sawtoothing as as a sign of botting is because it's also represented in a Dec 2020 YouTube change that cratered CCV across the board on the platform, but also seemed to affect HoloEN users more heavily than HoloJP (users, not streamers - this also tracks with CCVID testing appearing to be user-based flagging). I'll just track it with 4 of Ina's drawstreams (to roughly compare similar audiences), but it's present in damn near everything in HoloEN during the interval of late Dec 2020 to mid Aug 2021. What's really interesting is that you can actually see the same "natural" CCV curve in the sawtoothed graphs, just with random teeth sticking out of it. It's also worth noting that the Jul 2021 and Aug 2021 basically have the same CCV, only one has teeth and the other doesn't - which shows that fixed interval sawtoothing is something that likely occurs on YouTube's side.

https://holo.poi.cat/stream/g96MFx8X800 (Dec 13, 2020)
https://holo.poi.cat/stream/uTR35XKAKIU (Dec 20, 2020)
https://holo.poi.cat/stream/JpjETRZnGd8 (Jul 18, 2021)
https://holo.poi.cat/stream/nqa9EqZR3XY (Aug 14, 2021)

Another example of the userbase getting flagged is to dig through Coco's archive and realize that most of her content (ends before Aug 2021) has curves as smooth as a baby's ass, but content with near-zero appeal to the Japanese audience gives you this: https://holo.poi.cat/stream/NCq9K4ql47Y

You can also see traces of fixed interval sawtoothing in Shitpost Reviews in 2021 (mixed EOP audience):
https://holo.poi.cat/stream/Fyd6quCBX34 (pretty clear after ~15 minutes)
https://holo.poi.cat/stream/OWvEG82V7UM (noticeable after ~35 minutes)
But funnily enough some of her best-performing Shitpost Reviews in 2021 don't have noticeable teeth, when they would theoretically be the botted examples:
https://holo.poi.cat/stream/1Mm2VgxI-nA
https://holo.poi.cat/stream/YTTnA4MQkg0

It's also worth considering that your argument is backwards - why would bots and viewfarms be reflected in fixed interval spikes? The braindead way to deploy bots is to turn them all on and leave them there (ie: hard spikes with smooth aftermath, as demonstrated by known botting from /here/). A more sophisticated bot farm might instead deploy individual bots one after the other at short fixed intervals to have them replaced at a faster rate than they get culled - which if done correctly should theoretically give a smooth graph (ie: constant repeated short spikes). Given those assumptions, fixed interval sawtoothing would mean someone's spiking bot purchases in fixed, suspiciously well-spaced intervals that are minutes apart (not seconds), in batches of a few hundred each time, to not actually drive up the CCV at all but instead just troll /#/ into writing blogposts about sawteeth on CCV graphs.

In regards to bot and ccv performance, despite the botting implication I also don't think the ones which behavior I've been referring to does much to a stream's peak ccv, probably about 200-300 more peaks in the cases I've talked about. I'm sure that begs the question of why do it in the first place if it doesn't matter much, and to that I've alluded to that these actions doesn't have to be done by someone who wants to see her perform well. It may just some random person trying out some bots services, might be a fan that doesn't have much disposable fund and just spend as he/she is capable to, or maybe an anti that knows doing this will fuck her metrics, maybe flagged her channel so that YT will spend more time validating her viewers compared to other streamers.
In any case, I find the sawtooth behavior to be reproducible and explained by a particular bot behavior.

>why would bots and viewfarms be reflected in fixed interval spikes
There's probably one that does what you've described (staying, smaller intervals), though it would be pretty hard to observe from the data we have and I agree I would these sort of services of I were to bot my oshi in hopes she gets better viewership with little to no consequences.
Anyway, their existence or not doesn't disprove that the crude minute interval batches I've been referring to exist or being used on some streams.
There are also reasons why these sort of bot behavior does exist, since these may be traditionally used for pumping up vod views 'organicly' in a crude way.

Short answer, no.
What we do know is that Hololive talents get 35% of the total superchat shown in sites like Playboard. (Youtube cut 30%, Cover cut 35%)
Also as for which reaps them the most money, personally I would rank it
Sponsorships >= Merchs >> Superchats >> Ad-rev
Sponsorships a bit higher than merchs because those come to them via Cover so there should be no loss whatsoever, while for merchs the more creative freedom they put into it the more cut they will get, but that also mean the more production cost that they need to pay for.

This was taken 7:15PM JST.

Before that each player had to negotiate their rates with the companies they wanted to make business and keep it close to their chest as some sort of trade secret, with big players getting more favorable rates and small players getting shafted.

https://note.com/shibuyahal/n/nd98a73f6a82c
Basically, the viewers coming to watch VOD of a livestream aren't consistent. The more livestream you do the lesser will they click on the old VODs and just watch the most recent one. You could even observe this phenomenon by looking at how views for a livestream VOD usually limps two or three days after the showing.
For your usual run-of-the-mill contemt creator? You might be right. For hololive talents where people throw money at them even just for sneezing? No chance.

That video is a retarded cope and I wouldn’t doubt Susan paid him to do that.

Think about it: the core of his claim, if applied to YouTube, is that the same system that can send a sustained flow of full HD video at the 100Mbps rate in one direction would choke at receiving a 4 bytes “I’m watching” from the system they just sent and doing a +1 in a database field and would need a too complicated system to tally it.

The same company that is in the business of selling analytics services that boast about tracking in real time the user behavior of hundreds of thousands simultaneous visitors of an website with the ability to conduct auction based on their behavior and, before the end of a page load, show the ad that won said auction.

His video should be summarized properly like this:
>computers can count just fine
>it’s just not worth the money for YouTube to show the correct number because, well, what you’re going to do, move to vimeo?

There is normal scale and “google scale” and Google has the technical capacity to correctly implement something as simple as “send a video to 20k people and account for the ones receiving it”.

They have no incentive to do it correctly tho because it would imply ripping out a decade of tech debt they likely come all the way back from when they didn’t own YouTube, a platform that likely never turned a profit until a couple of years ago.

>Companies know this and compete with each other to deliver the best user and customer experience possible.
>Google Cloud customers such as AB Tasty are processing billions of real-time events for millions of users each day to deliver just that for their clients—an experience that’s optimized for smaller and smaller segments of users.
>…
> Providing access to real-time data for data analysts and business analysts starts with enabling data to be rapidly ingested into the data warehouse.
>BigQuery is designed to be “always fast, always fresh,” and it enables streaming inserts into the data warehouse at millions of events per second.
https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/data-analytics/democratization-of-real-time-analysis-with-google-cloud

That’s Google’s bread and butter, that’s their claim: millions of **inserts** per second, that’s the “write operations cost” you’re mentioning, and they sell that service to hundreds, thousands of companies to make use of simultaneously without trouble.

You can’t possibly claim that, for YouTube live streaming that at their worst peak must have what, 100 million CCV (exaggerating tremendously here), they don’t have the capacity to correctly process the number of people watching?
