Why is it always overwhelmingly hololive with this board? Why don't people support other up and coming vtubers?

Because Hololive fans aren't vtuber fans.

That's exactly why. Every single no view doesn't deserve a thread, maybe a general for them but then it would just encourage grooming.

Whereas other boards on 4chan have a contrarian cultural by nature, /vt/ is the only board that is almost completely focused in it's goal of worshiping one entity.

True, but rooting out some good ones seems like a good topic for a thread.

I tried to. Every western indie vtuber, without exception, ends up having bfs, manipulating their fans for all the cash they're worth, crashing, and burning. VShoujo is too crass for my tastes and NijiEN is difficult to get into when everyone is constantly collabing and I don't know who any of them are.

Personally, it was something to be expected. It's literally the same story as with youtubers and twitch streamers.
Not a lot of people were doing youtube back in the old days, not a lot of videos to watch.
Some people started recording gameplay, I will take pewdiepie as an example as he is the most recognizable and easy to explain

Pewdiepie started recording videos, there is no chance you didn't saw his happy wheels series.
People started noticing that youtube is getting more and more popular, his videos were being seen by a lot of people, they noticed that the train is starting, and wanted to hop in to become youtuber too.
Justi- I mean twitch, It's the same story. I remember when people were getting on the hype of streaming, tournaments streamed on twitch, and early pro players streaming their gameplay for fans.

Now its vtubers, we had Kizuna AI that managed to reach a lot of people, Siro Channel, Tokino Sora. They were the first vtubers to actually reach big numbers regarding reach and popularity. Were they first to the idea? Of course not. vtubers started long before in 2012. ever heard about Ami Yamato?

If there's a market that grows, there will be more and more people to try and have a share in it, almost like Esports.

Thank you for coming to my ted Talk.

This is 4chan. That means half the fun of being on boards is watching other people’s ridiculous arguments. Now, how the fuck are we supposed to do that if the catalog is filled with a bunch of threads about 2views no one except the OPs have heard of?

Also, they’re 2views for a reason. Some might be good and literally just getting started with an illustrious career, but the vast majority of them are trash. No one wants to support that shit.

>> No.22919804

>>22915682
The problem with 2views is that they suck. It’s too early to know if they’re worth it or if they’re too flaky. At least once you get into the low thousands you know they’re somewhat committed to it.

Unironically i was going through twitch yesterday to look for vtubers to watch. 99% of them just suck.
Like they don't even talk levels of suck. It's 98% dead air and when they do talk it's just awkward as fuck.

It's like if everyone was Ina but without the sexy model or drawing talent. I was really looking for an art vtuber last night and not only do they all suck at streaming, most of them suck at drawing too.

Why does /jp/ need 30 2hu threads when 2hu is .01% of japanese culture? It's just the way it is

>> No.22923274

It's the same problem with streamers in general. There's the exposure and oversaturation problem, as well as the problem with how long form content is hard to branch out from, from the viewer's perspective, for many reasons, one of which is time. Other reasons are effort needed on their part, unreliability and inconsistency of indies, and so on. For many people, hololive is "good enough"

>> No.22924122

Imagine for any average vtuber, 1% of their viewers are /here/. For small and new channels, that means they likely don't even have anyone who has seen them, let alone wants to shill their channel here. When you get to larger numbers like holos, 1% of 6k viewers would mean there's 60 people here who can discuss that chuuba.
Even if you play with the numbers, it's easier to have a thread when there's more people. Posts here will always be groups with large followings, or exceptionally /here/ fanbases.

Getting your oshi to actually be discussed /here/ is the worst thing you can do for your oshi. You invite retards to her chat, you invite schizos to monitor her streams for "yabs" or moments of weakness and you undermine your own enjoyment of the content and your oshi's mental state now that you both read anti comments about her /here/.

>> No.22925665

Let's consider what it is and why it's popular. Okay first off fomo fomo fomo grift grift grift. It's entertainment for extra weebs, or it was, now it's a mainstream grift.

With 99.9% of the other stuff you are basically getting a rebranded streamer who possibly is hiding from a past of shitty behavior. Maybe it's entertaining too but first and foremost GIVE MONEY and don't forget to like and subscribe and kofi and bits and then fuck you chat you're stupid banned can't believe you gave money. Typical streamer stuff. It's entertainment of a sort, but is it the same kind of entertainment?

Is it really the same thing when it's just a lazy rebranding by some jackass looking to get anime popular? Technically maybe, and that's why. Fuck technicalities, it's still shit.

>> No.22926717

>>22925854
I read some of the tweets where it seems like they're trying to convince themselves they're good people. It really makes me think a lot of them have serious mental problems and are just using this as a way to hide it from themselves. Like an elaborate fantasy to help them cope. It's kind of awkward to watch when they do stream then.

Hololive was the only topic popular enough to get its own board. Niji and indie Vtuber threads existed on /jp/ for years. It wasn't until /hlg/ and then later Hololive Global blew up in popularity that /vt/ was created.

You can also thank Hololive for the second wave of interest in Vtubers. Without it, Vshoujo and NijiEN wouldn't have become their own things.
