Some artists that aren't just "give 100 dollars, receive art" are much more selective with their clientele, especially the bigger ones.

The collab thing is way off base as well because a "simple message" isn't always enough. Youtube isn't just "solved" by having some editor, and where do you think these people even come from? Vshojo offers connections and resources that save you a shitload of time and effort finding a reputable person with a good track record

Merch sales are where a lot of streamers make a huge chunk of their money, look at OTV, 100T, or on the higher end the Minecraft streamers. The playasia thing was announced but I'm fairly sure most if not all of those streamers have some sort of representation or management.

Tons of big streamers are part of representation agencies (which Vshojo is), they just don't make a massive deal about it and many almost never bring it up since it isn't part of their brand unless it's literally an org like OTK, 100T, or all those Esport ones and it breaks the "illusion" of them being self made. I'd say Vshojo is closer to an agency than a "vtuber org" in the sense that Hololive or Nijisanji are. It's something a lot don't talk about, the biggest person I've seen to mention it openly on more than one occasion was Leaflit whose manager works with other Vtubers. There's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes than just a couple of simple emails.

That's telling since Layna has significantly more business experience than basically any other indie. People don't realize the types of things that make larger scale vtubing work. I'm a 2view relative to /lig/ chuubas but even the time spent finding some of these things, much less vetting them and checking their work history, etc is time consuming. Joining vshojo is joining an agency, which can secure sponsorships and other business deals for the client instead of the client doing all of the work themselves. It takes a load off the client and the agency gets a cut of earnings resulting from those connections, if I understand correctly.
Joining an agency is more about creating and accessing connections and opportunities.

A lot of (actual) companies or freelancers only work with companies. Many of the L2D artists for examples have clauses that they do not do commissions, you cannot just throw money at them and get work done.
Other corps might be the same (though we obviously can't tell) who know what hoops you have to jump through to collab with gura though.

Merch is also a lot more of a pain in the ass than people think. Especially when it comes to shipping and other bullshit.
