WARanon, just curious, what's your opinion on firearms replacing swords and spears as the main weapon on the battlefield? Sure a bunch of guys shooting each other 100 paces apart from each other don't exactly inspire the traditional virtues associated with brave warriors but allowing even the most dimwitted and frail person to become an effective fighter is based right?

Looking up Aztec mythology and
>An important aspect of Aztec ritual was the impersonation of deities. Priests or otherwise specially elected individuals would be dressed up to achieve the likeness of a specific deity. A person with the honourable charge of impersonating a god was called ixiptla tli and was venerated as an actual physical manifestation of the god until the inevitable end when the god's likeness had to be killed as the ultimate sacrifice under great circumstance and festivities.
>Tezcatlipoca, the god of night, enmity and discord, and many other things, is also depicted in the form of a jaguar very often. The main festival for Tezcatlipoca, called Toxcatl, involves a young man being chosen by his parents and dressed up like Tezcatlipoca. The next year, he lived like a god, with four wives and eight servants. At the end of that year, there would be a week-long festival in his honor, at the end of which he would climb the pyramid and be worshipped before being sacrificed by priests and eaten.

Besides being a front for Kronii milk I wonder what would the benefit of opening a bakery in /nasa/ would be. /nasa/ has the bakery in /who/ to help sell /nasa/ wheat. So I wonder what else will help /nasa/? The bakery could be a way to buy ingredients that /nasa/ otherwise cannot secure like dried nuts and chocolate. However shipping ingredients back to /nasa/ is still going to be costly. Alternatively ingredients can be shipped to the bakery in /ggg/ to sell pastries and wheat there. /nasa/ cannot sell ice to /infinity/ because /infinity/ can easily trade for local ice. /nasa/ could grow space wheat in /infinity/ but at that point we're selling seeds to local farmers and teaching them how to raise the crop.

I'm still interested in the prospect of the /infinity/ bakery. However we lack infrastructure to be a global supplier. So many ingredients have to be local supply. It seems like /infinity/ is more interested in having /nasa/'s recipes for dairy products and sweets than selling /nasa/ wheat. The deal still needs to be discussed.

Ok, so I'm gonna be honest, /nasa/. I think that it would be in our best interests if I stepped away from the civil war story now. I would hate it for the story to drag on and stagnate because I just can't write my part. I have been staring at the rentry page for about 30 min now, and I have yet to start typing. I have the whole chapter thought out in my head, down to small details, but for whatever reason I just can't bring myself to put it down on paper. Don't ask, even I don't know what is wrong. I did post a small piece of it last thread, so to any other writers, if you want to use that, feel free, or you can take the story in your own direction. Idk, I think I need to take a while off to figure out what is going in my head.

Forgot to mention this. I think what happened is you over-planned a chapter. It happens. Sometimes when you try to put things to paper everything falls apart because you're just forcing words, not actually writing. Times like this you have to take a step back, drink a good beer, and just forget about what you planned for a moment. You still have the outline in mind, but now you write with the flow. Sometimes things don't come out as you planned and the story changes. Sometimes that happens too. As long as you know your characters you can write.

altercation in the kitchen
escaping though the dungeon
And then I add the main parts of the big parts
Discussion with guard
-showing ID
-give weapons
-enter
And then I write out the subpart in more detail, and I use as many levels as I need. Basically a divide and conquer strategy to writing.

I have a different approach to this scenario I outlined >>22819313 . To me the premise is simple: Mac tells Alex about aliens and robots. You can have a list of what Mac has found. But how the conversation happens can't be more natural than men cracking hot beers over a campfire. There's a time and place for planning. In this case the details will come naturally as you speak outloud. Just have to keep in mind the characters don't have autism.

To be fair, both approaches are valid and mostly boil down to the kind of story you want to write, and your personal preference as a writer. In fact, I would say I kind of do both. In my writing, I usually try to plan out how my major characters (ones who consistently drive the plot forward) tick - what they like and what they want to achieve, and try my best to stick to those. For the story (and individual chapters), I plan out the major checkpoints that it needs to hit, before arranging the rest of the world (setpieces, objects, minor characters whose hopes and dreams don't matter) in a way where the characters required will be guided through the checkpoints.
If everything goes to plan, the characters' own aspirations will basically fill the blanks in between. Of course, sometimes they also derail the story, in which case I'll have to adapt to it and try my best to pull the story back on track. It can also lead to occasional pacing issues when the path ended up more winding than I expected, but it's good enough for fanwork, I guess.

Lemme try to initiate something

Charlie and I make our way back to camp. We're going to ask the locals around to see if they know anything.

The smell of stew and beer fills the air almost instantly, almost enough to make me forget about- No! I must stay focus! The station needs me, and so is Alex! I slowly make my way over to the camp where Charlie had placed our belongings. Knick-knacks me and Charlie picked up during our travel to the Capital of the HLG. There must have been something useful in this pile of junk! Something to convince Alex!

A canteen of 'stardust' from Hoshiyomiya? No. A sample of Kirin honey? No! A sample of rradiated debris from the Fandead border? Why in Sana's name did Charlie collected this? I shook my head and keep digging through. My fingers felt the touch of something big and solid. Leather and pulp. Grabbing the item, I realized it is quite heavy, requiring an extra effort to pull it out of the pile.

"Whacha gandering about?" I hear a voice from behind. It's Charlie. "See if there's anythin useful here..." I answer back. I managed to to wrestle the heavy object out of the pile, the oversized tome given to him by the HLG diplomat, the Holobible. "Well take a butcher's at that. No wonder Wheaty knackered out trynna pull our sled."

I took a chair and place it behind a crate. A makeshift table for the time being. Putting the tome in front of me, I start flipping through the pages, looking for anything useful. Golems of RBC, candy kingdom, the were-drakes of the North, schizos, here it is! "The gods of the stars. The visitors from the Aether and the Moon." A chapter in the bible describing a certain civilization of stranded spacefarers who came here before my people did. I activate my HUD's translation feature and skim through the texts.

"Uhhh, Mac..." I feel Charlie's fingers grabbing me by the shoulder. I turned around to see him pointing at something in front of us. No, not something. Someone. A group of someones to be precise. I watch as a man, supposedly their leader judging by his uniform and hat, slowly walks on the cold grass, taking a long gander at the station. My HUD adjusted its focus onto the man's uniform and regalia. He's from a nation far west of Nasa, across the ocean. Bearing with it the Royal Standard of the Adventurers Guild of HLG.

Are these the people the diplomat said he sent over? Just as I was about to say something, he turned to me, looking at my suit and the tome I was reading. Without any hesitation, I asked him "Oi! Yous mates must've been from the Capital right?"

The man quickly makes his way over to me in quick strides. "You there! With the fishbowl helmet!" he speaks, my translator had trouble picking up whether he was being serious or joking. "Is that the fortress that fell from the sky?" I see him pointing at the station. Fortress indeed, especially with its current situation. "Sure is." I said with a nod.

"It is true! Lenz! Kaya! We're here!" he said as he waved over to his camaraderie. "You have no idea how much we have travelled to see you people." he said as he takes a seat next to me. "Oh where are my manners, the name's Jovial. Admiral Jovial, HLG Adventurer extraordinaire! Me and my crew came all the way here from the Continental East. The Capital mentioned-"

I could tell this is going to be a long evening.

To be fair, mountains have always played a major role in road and city placement, but I reckon the tileset might not be well-equipped to handle highlands instead of ridges. picrel is how I imagine the major mountains to be placed. Red is the most significant one that likely goes above 1500m in altitude (which also coincides with the border of Nacatlan, and is not a coincidence), while the yellow ones are shorter mountains that aren't as significant, so can be negated depending on your tileset.

>>22846029
If you still want to keep the information in the writing, it might be a good idea to bring up the relevant aspects when they play a role in the plot. I don't know how Risuners smell (time for some experiments...), but the scent-filtering aspect can be brought up when the Risuners are in smelling distance, either because their scent is totally filtered out, or they happen to have some kind of pheromone that the mask does not absorb. Similarly, you can have the outer layer of leather (not technically part of the mask, but I digress) flow with the wind when they're at the shore, which I assume would be pretty windy.

Sounds reasonable. It's good enough to know that it's up for trade since some of my characters use/will use rosestone-derived devices. We can probably assume people got them through fair deals with Rosebutas and work out the details if people begin importing them on a commercial scale.

>>22847595
I'd argue you would only want to trade either older rosestones or smaller less pure ones. The larger and more pure the stone is the more dangerous it is to transport from sparks to explosions. Small stones when energized you can hold with a quilted mitt like a warm light bulb. Just my thoughts.

Sumargo logs ch 2.

Its been a while now and we have somewhat adapted to the cold environment. Of course when I say adapted I really mean we ended up meeting some of the natives who are far better off here and accept their hot food for help.
Language is currently a problem. We communicate using simple hand gestures and the like. Most of us can understand what they mean however when they offer and ask for things.
These people are huge! They look so muscular and their physiology is much different than ours. They have smooth skin in most places and its so satisfying to rub. They seem to back off a bit by this though. In fact they definitely arent like the kronies back home. A bit more conservative in comparison.

Among these huge friends there are the other type. They seem smaller and resemble a more female type. Strange to see such a divergence in what we assume are genders but it is what it is.
I had to calm the crew down just a bit. Some of them seemed a bit too eager to exchange nuts and all of a sudden this massive terrible smell emanated from one of them. Theyre kind of cute how shy they seem to be. But oh god I DO NOT want to smell that again. It was fucking disgusting.

Im theorizing that they stay warm thanks to those very pretty stones. They're almost like gems. I want one. Holy shit i really want one of those pretty gems. Its so pretty. And I think I know just the way to get it. One of my scouts reported that they seem to stare at our tails a lot. The next time we get them to visit our camp im gonna recommend that some of the group rub our tails over them to try and make them blush.
If it goes well we can get their gems AND their nuts! Anyway these are our current goals.
1. Survive with their help
2. Exchange nuts.
3. GET THE PRETTY GEMS

On another note our scout teams are gonna start going in as deep as they can. We need to see if they have cities of some kind. And especially if we can find this stone/gem thing.
We tried showing off our various nuts. And we even demonstrated planting a few in the ground to signify they grow into trees. They seem somewhat interested but the language barrier appears to be a filter. If only we could teach them our language easier. If only they could comprehend the power of our nuts.

Side note: One of those big boys actually volunteered to cuddle with me personally. As a guy this was a little awkward since this seems to be the male version of their species but holy shit he was warm. Mmmmm so warm. Like a personal campfire. It actually felt really good. Can confirm they really like our tails. This gives me a brilliant idea if we ever get indoors or in a room where we can ignore the cold climate.

Reading >>22848452 actually reminds me of something (apart from remembering to archive them). It isn't elaborated upon in the writing, but I assume the SAP masks function by absorbing selective scents and pheromone through things stuffed in the bird's beak while letting the desirable ones pass through. Do you think it'll be possible for it to be further augmented by having things in it absorb the desirable scents, but then release a stronger scent? That'll make the mask more sensitive to those scents than naked noses, and might even allow non-Rosebutas to have access to the pheromone-based communication (if one-sided) assuming Rosebutas don't mind others peeping.

Yeah that's pretty much spot on with how it works. It's essentially a kind of gas mask in a plague doctor style.
While it might be possible to make it accessible for other species, Rosebutas have no real desire to do so. It's not because they dislike other species, but just because they don't think it's worthwhile to give others enhanced smell when they already are the best and can just do it themselves. If you somehow managed to get your hands on a mask, maybe you could reverse engineer it and enhance it yourself to make one though.

Funeral ceremonies seemed like an interesting topic to explore, so I wrote something for /wg/. Maybe we should add taking a look at how countries handle death to the list of prompts >>22784940?
A Clean Slate:
In /wg/, death is seen as the final step of a (hopefully) fulfilled life. As such, the treatment of their dead has an air of finality about it. Upon the event of one's death in /wg/, the body is transferred to a large stone stage on the outskirts of town outfitted with several fire pits called "slates". At this time, the deceased's possessions are collected from their residence and gathered beside the slate containing their body. Depending on the size of their estate, this may be done by the family alone, or it may become a town-wide effort. In cases where the deceased lived alone, it is not unheard of for community members to simply let themselves into the home and begin carting off their possessions to be brought to the slates. With these preparations made, the pyre can be lit and the funeral begins. Funerals are a celebratory ritual in /wg/, with many of the departed's favorite foods and drinks provided for the guests in attendance while they celebrate and remember the person they've lost by sharing stories of their life. Throughout these festivities, the dead's possessions are regularly added to the continuously burning slate, with the immolation of the last items marking the funeral's end. In the case of particularly influential or wealthy individuals, this can result in a town-wide celebration lasting for several days, during which the slate is kept burning bright with a steady stream of offerings to consume. Eventually, however, the slate inevitably grows dim as the deceased's possessions are all exhausted. Once the funeral pyre goes out, those items which were not destroyed by the fire can be claimed by whoever digs them out from the ashes. The remaining debris is then cleared away and the deceased's slate is wiped clean.

Chapter 7 of the /meat/-/risu/ story is out: https://rentry.org/kaqbp
It's a fight scene. Admittedly, the nature of it means that it's somewhat shorter and more chaotic than in my previous story, but I hope it still works good enough to not ruin the experience. I really appreciated the inclusion of the poleaxe in all this. Yeah, I consider it probably the best weapon type that fits /meat/'s axe-heavy weapon choice, especially when they have to fight against someone armoured (although given their usual raiding targets, that might be surprisingly rare). Ironically, no one in the fight actually has any heavy armour, but sometimes it's just fun to geek out about weapons. In fact, the shield Sipak uses is also a rare thing, although unlike poleaxe it has a much more limited use case. Really makes you think what kind of people would have practised using something unusual to regular /meat/ warriors...

The difference's that in this world, the light source can instead be rosestone, and the shutter mechanism can include a friction-wheel mechanism to trigger it at the same time. That's why I asked if /rose/ sells rosestones frequent enough for dedicated/resourceful enough individuals to get their hands on some
Right, I forgot the deadbeats are armoured (and generally being a tough nut to crack... heh). In that case, I guess it makes more sense for the more seasoned /meat/ raiders to have poleaxes as well.

You might be allowed to visit the outskirts of the Underworld while accompanied by Priestesses if you can be convincing, see the sakura trees. Not for a very long time though, the airborne chuubanite in the Underworld would soon make you guys start to lose your capacities without some kind of protective gear.
But if you just want diamonds you can also just buy some kek. That'll cost you though.

Reza logs ch 3

After months we have come back. This time we totally aim to get those extremely pretty gems we have been told about. With us we brought one of own. Grape agate to be specific. Even if there is a language barrier i think they will get the hint. Plus with Cayah staying there surely he will serve as a good translator.
We brought warm gear for climbing the mountain and lots of mining gear. Hopefully they will let us mine the gems.

Arrival
Well shit. It seems that their mountain is pretty damn sacred and they wont let us go mining. So much for all our equipment. But there is some good that can come out of this. Apparantely some priestesses can let us enter their pretty forest at the bottom of the mountain. I wonder if its as pretty as our forest?
Cayah will be coming along. He seems to understand the basics of their tongue. Although I do have to facepalm at the fact that has a deadbeat girl with her arms wrapped around him 24/7. Typical of him that man thinks with his nuts more than his head. But he is necessary for translating so its something ill have to deal with.
Strange was his warning. "You dont want to be there for too long or you will just get hypnotized". I think these people dont realize we live in a forest and are used to the power of magic. Anyway they are VERY strict about this kind of stuff. Not only are we not allowed to mine the mountain but I am the only one allowed to go forth while the rest of the crew hang about in the towns.

Going to the forest
HOLY SHIT IT LOOKS NICE IN HERE! The trees have really pretty pink flowers. I could even feel some sort of strange sense overpowering me but surely it was just my natural curiosity. At least thats what I thought when several times I had to force myself to come back to the priestess. And while I did that she apparantely "rescued" some random person from there. I guess that attraction hypnotizing magic is real.
That visit only lasted 20 minutes as any longer would have compromised my sanity. Well shit. Still, I do wonder what would happen if you were to plant one of my nuts in that forest. If our magic combined with theirs? Actually I kind of wonder what would happen if Risu met their Goeddess Faithful. Would be interesting to find out. Sadly those pink trees dont grow any nuts.

Back at town.
WELL FUCK ME! Those pretty gems are on display at the stores! And to think we were planning on sending entire expeditions to hike the mountain and spent months using our bog iron to make loads of pickaxes. And here it is at the market. Bruh...
And to make it even worse the deadbeats seem to facepalm at our customs. He didnt grasp the concept that we use nuts as money. It didnt get any better when one of my crew asked if he preferred the other kind of nut and took off his pants. It took like 3 other people to tell him that this is how we exchange goods back in our land. He of course said something along these lines
"You can have a small diamond but me and my friends would like some (quality time) with your cutest girls". They were so shy about it too. What for!? Its just sex these deadbeats act like its rare to have it. Well for us it isnt so a few girls immediately stepped up and tackled them. These poor guys were taken aback judging from the looks on their faces but luckily our "experience" taught us that some people just need to get comfortable.
In the end we got the pretty diamond as its called. AND HOLY FUCKING NUTS ITS BEAUTIFUL! ITS THE PRETTIEST GEM EVER ITS SO SHINY I WANT MORE OF THEM! I immediately ordered those guys an hour later when they were done with our diplomats to give us all they had. We ended up giving to them our special magical nuts which we recommended to plant in their pretty forest. They said they would have to ask the priestess about that one but in the end we got 2 diamonds and they got lots of magical nuts, and learned how to have good sex. One of them was even a virgin how cute.

Rezas notes
I need to take note that outsiders are for some reason very shy about sex. The kronies are all about it and love to nut in our mouths and so do deadbeats but the process of initiating it seems to be rather slower. Shame really but in the end what can you do? IT works out for us. We get free sex and nuts in our mouths and we get paid for it? This is such a good way to get PRETTY GEMS ill have to bring more pretty girls next time we visit somewhere.

Jokes aside, /meat/ might actually be pretty into pleasures of the flesh (in more than one way... heh) even if /meat/ isn't really themed like that considering the kind of stuff our vtubers have done. In case it matters for your planning, /meat/'s probably fairly open to such trades if the riunsers offer them. Obviously, /d/ stuff is more popular in /meat/, but I imagine vanilla stuffs nonetheless have their market (especially considering the novelty of riunsers). Be noted that /meat/ is equally big on receiving pain as is dealing them, too...
As for payment, our nuts might not be true nuts, but as far as precious stuff go we have things like jade, agate (although /risu/ has agate too) and garnet if they count as gemstones for riunsers. /meat/ also has things like uranium glass, opal (probably), and pearl, which technically aren't gemstones but are still pretty to look at.

LUKNIGHT RISUNER EXPEDITION LOG April 21st: >>22784636

We have finally arrived at a port settlement of the Risuners, and have been well-greeted by the local population, who have allowed us to set up camp just outside.

Our crew contains mostly members of the royal Lu-navy (a few lewd Bunaitos among them... they said it was important research for their barbeque sauce recipes), but also some appraisers, researchers, and diplomats. I, for one, hope these writings will one day appear in the Great Library of Gugulu, where our blessed Himesama will gaze upon it and giggle... Such a siren song for a luknight.

So far, the local population has been receptive to our gifts of sugar, coating and then roasting their nuts. They are not Lumans like us or most of our surrounding nations, but have squirrel-like features. I am wary, though, of their repeated asking for the opal gemstone within my armor, the sign of many years of good service to the crown. I doubt they could remove it, but I would be deeply shamed were it to go missing. Perhaps I should cover it with a cloth as I continue here...

The inspiration for the ritual came from the unfortunate tendency for artists to nuke all their works when leaving a fandom. In our thread, the only real way to determine that an author is truly dead and gone is if they delete all their stories on the way out. Hence, all your property gets destroyed upon death. Heirlooms and the like can still be passed down through the generations so long as it's done while the owner is alive, but the whole "last will and testament" concept wouldn't exist in /wg/. Of course, sometimes family members might falsely claim that the deceased transferred ownership of certain items before their unexpected demise to hold onto them, but overall it is expected for possessions to die with the individual. How long your slate manages to stay lit is a mark of the success you achieved in life, so it would be considered disrespectful to retain your family member's possessions for yourself instead of rightfully acknowledging them as that person's accomplishments.

>> No.22893900

>>22890784
True. The main craft here would be stories, which would ultimately get consumed fairly quickly. I imagine that there is a fair amount of outside fuel like firewood that gets used to ensure that the slate is kept going long enough to completely burn through the body and possessions. Especially as metal becomes a more common replacement for wooden objects over time, the idea of possessions being the main fuel for the slate may become more symbolic than literal. So additional items would be tossed in at regular intervals, with more time and emphasis given to high-value objects. The idea being that a more valuable estate has an excuse to be kept burning longer since there is more that needs to be gradually added to the pyre. For example, the famed work of an author might be read from during the ceremony and its pages added to the slate one at a time as they are read.
