In it's infancy /wah/ was built around personal growth. Ina was a role model that encouraged us to work on self improvement in our many constructive hobbies. Takos discussed things like making art, music, and writing code. Group aggies were common back then. There was also a lot less horny posting originally. Physical art books should be handy for highbrow academique~ studies. Personally i go for full digital, but if i had space and bunch of cute maids i'd bought something of historic/cultural value on physical medium, more like a collector item than practical one. Also, i wouldn't go for manga cause tankobon paper and print quality often is fucking trash.

I read manga on an old tablet because getting translated physical copies is so expensive. For the occasional LN or manga I really love and want to physically own I will cough up the money though. For non-weeb stuff I'll just browse secondhand bookstores unless there's something I want specifically and I don't find it secondhand anywhere
So yeah physical > digital for me, I just prefer being able to actually hold what I'm reading
