Soul Hackers is still a lovely game all these years! I think the remake on the 3ds may have made it less grindy but I’m not sure. As for SMT 1, it definitely seems like one of those games where you get lost in absurdly confusing dungeons and grind for hours

SMT1 and 2 are really good but the encounter rate of SMT1 can be really annoying, and the dungeons are a bit too complicated if you're not used to old dungeon crawlers, though there is a auto-map. I don't really like Soul Hackers but it has a nice story and it's easy to play.

Perma death mechanics and unforgiving difficulty that doesn't hold your hand, hope she's prepared for lots of reading. But it's a turn based / time unit based game so she gets to think about how to proceed with each action at least.

She'll be fine with some guidance, but I'm a little worried because it's sort of a "forever game" where a short campaign is like 100 hours.
Currently on 180 hours on my current campaign at the early midpoint, although it is modded openXcom, been a while since I've played the standard version.
