Essentially, yeah, but there a few tips that can help you increase your odds of winning the individual tournaments since otherwise it can be insanely frustrating.

-There is a logic to the AI's move selection but I've never seen any of the guides/hints online mention it completely. Essentially, the AI almost always leads off with its strongest attack (especially if it only has one strong attack), and then for every subsequent attack the chances of using a particular move depend on the character's affinity for each move and the power (colour) of that particular attack. If it's a basic/white attack, they'll almost always use their weak one or two star moves, if it has one or two upgrades they'll most likely use their medium-strength move, and if it has two or more upgrades they almost always use their strongest move. It's not perfectly accurate (I'd guess their AI uses decision weighting) but it's very consistent, and once you can start consistently predicting their moves you'll find it far less rage-inducing.
-Some guides recommend wearing gear that boosts 'financial luck'. I personally never noticed a correlation, I think it's more to do with the amount you bet, but you might as well do it to be safe.

Remember that the trophy is for winning complete tournaments so you have to win all three matches in a row before you save. Most of all be patient, even with all the tips the AI can decide to fuck you over with an instant-kill move or a random knockout, and it'll probably happen once or twice. But if you're otherwise winning consistently it's not insurmountably frustrating.

Without the context if Kiara/Majima, a ton of things can go wrong in such a relationship. What if the partner doesn't want to be "fixed", or wants to but doesn't put in the effort, or perhaps wants to be fixed, but not in way that you're imagining? Even if the correction succeds, what happens after that? Should the partner feel grateful for being "fixed"? Do you want your efforts to be recognized? In context of Kiara, I wouldn't even say that she wants to fix him, rather that her opinion of Majima is vastly different from the average Yakuzafag's. Kiara mostly knows him through Zero (and briefly LAD, but that's not really representative) where he shows an entirely different side initially and arguably the transformation is very lackluster. On the other hand, fans got to know Majima's usual side first so they have no real attachment to the cabaret leader Majima, but they emphasize with the reason behind the transformation. I don't think either of these opinions is wrong, though, but Kiara wanting the cool but collected Majima with a heart of gold heavily contradicts Majima's latter depiction of being a carefree motherfucker without regard to most things, even things that are sacred to the yakuza.
