As someone who still fights through severe introversion and anxiety by sheer willpower for the sake of a successful public facing career, it doesn’t make sense how it gets so bad someone can’t leave the house. Mine is pretty bad. I rehearse simple phone conversations in advance, go to stores early in the morning or late at night to avoid people, have few friends and never go out socially except as a business obligation, dread meetings that I have to run or know I’ll need to speak in, and after I have to do something like a speech or a performance in front of large groups of people I’ll lock myself in a room and curl up on the floor or a sofa and shake for over an hour or two sometimes.
