These so-called "serious hip-hop heads" are more than likely the same people who think Eminem is a disgrace to rap, and their opinions are of equal worth to those back in the day trashing Bob Dylan or mainstream pop artists. Those with substantial knowledge of rap music will have at least some respect for the technical ability and production of Mori's rap even if they don't vibe with the content itself. Saying Mori can't rap is like saying Justin Bieber can't sing.

Now I have no doubt in my mind that her EP's placement on the charts was largely due to her already established following, but it definitely wouldn't have gotten there if the songs themselves didn't appeal to those supporting it. Hell, there are plenty of non-Vtuber fans who vibed with the songs upon discovering them, and people who don't even like Calliope's streams but enjoy her music. It's also noteworthy that some of Calli's fans are indeed rap fans, saying her music is a breath of fresh air, or that it reminds them of 90s west coast or J-rap.

While her raps have some technical merit (particularly the rhyme structure, and I like the lyrics quite a bit as well) arguably what makes or breaks a rapper to serious fans of the genre is flow, and it's historically been her biggest weakness. Thankfully, she's improved massively on this front as of late by cramming way less into bars, but she hasn't really demonstrated it as much with her move toward poppier tracks. The problem with his later work imo is that they lack the substance that TTGL had in terms of character growth. I think Promare is trash utterly devoid of any substance so I won't comment on that.
KLK is an amazing show but I feel like the second half is significantly weaker. I dislike that Nui disrupted the monkey rematch despite the hype that it had gotten. Moments like Ryuko being corrupted and Satsuki having to put on Ryuko's outfit were cool on their own but failed to tie to any overarching narrative. Also the ending felt very unsatisfactory in that Nui was essentially Ryuko's major antagonist yet gets absorbed into Disco Milf without any closure. Funnily enough I felt like the OVA that focused on Disco Milf's assistant actually had better closure than the actual series since it was more character focused.
The structure of TTGL into 3 acts, each of which gives Simon a person to learn from (Kamina, Nia, Rossiu) culminating into his growth as a leader felt very satisfying and straightforward.

I'd sometimes lurk anti threads to see what they're saying and one of the things you would notice pretty quick is how Mori hate just wasn't based in reality. They wouldn't criticize what Mori was actually doing, they'd often just made shit up based on third hand information it seemed.
