21561354 No.21561354 [Reply] [Original]

I’ve seen people here genuinely talk about wanting to become a corpo VTuber just to get fujo money because you’re finally seeing how powerful female fans can actually be, but it’s not as easy as it looks if you want to capture a big audience and big money. /vt/ seriously has no idea how fujos work, so I’m here to provide some actual advice. Before you read on, I’ll let you know it takes a lot of tolerance, research, practice, and hard work. If you’re not up to putting in the work to surpass what Vox (and even the rest of Luxiem) can do, then this thread isn’t for you. You don’t even have to do fujobaiting, pandering, or any gimmicks to pull it off. You just need to put in the work. This goes for no matter which company you’re applying to.

If you wish to fujobait:
Do research on what tropes fujoshi like. Simple BL terms, culture, and popular personality types. Be subtle about it and don’t force it; the longer you drag it out, the more tension it creates and keeps people looking forward to more. Unintentional fujobait can happen as well (see: Luca). Talk a lot with your genmates/wavemates you get along with to establish a “ship”. If he’s comfortable fujobaiting, then continue to lightly flirt with him. If he’s not, just talk to him like a regular friend and fujos will still ship you anyway. It leads to fan art which leads to more people being exposed to who you are which leads to your growth for both you and your bro. Here are some key terms and explanations that can help you get started. You don’t need to memorize these, they’re just to help you get familiar with the culture (ignore all the queer uwu and pride flag western shit): https://futekiya.com/tag/fu-pedia/

If you do not wish to fujobait:
Look at some reverse harem anime. You don’t need to watch entire seasons, you can watch some compilation clips to see the different personality types. You can choose a personality you think you can pull off, but if it’s just an act you have to force, it may or may not work for you. If you feel you can only keep up a personality sometimes and your “real self” comes out, that’s called “gap-moe” and we love that. Some notable reverse harem to use as reference material are Ouran High School Host Club and Uta No Prince-Sama. You can still talk to your fellow male coworkers and get along with them without having to fujobait and you’ll get lots of money through collabs.

Other advice regardless of the route you wish to take:
•Practice your speaking skills. Vox isn’t carried by his deep voice alone, he talks very smoothly and barely stutters so he has probably had some public speaking experience. If you do stutter that can be cute too, especially if you have a soft voice, but it can get a bit displeasing to hear if it happens too often *cough* Ike
•Talk about things you love. Women love hearing men talk about their interests, no matter how dumb you may think it is. Vox talks about a nearly 10 year old game about possessed animatronics, I’m sure whatever you’re into is fine too. If you sound happy talking about it, talk about it.
•Despite what you’ve been told, we really are attracted more to your personality than your looks. Just be yourself, even if you have dark humor, there will be an audience for you (see: Fulgur and sometimes, Sonny).

In the end, just be yourself and have fun, and people will come along. Good luck to those applying to either Niji or Holo, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask me!

Thank you Anonita! Please forgive some of these zoomer anons who have short attention span and can't read a detailed coherent insight without given a simplified rundown on anything. Really helpful giving insight on how women view things and this things could also be applicable on understanding your fujo friends.
Anyways I have some few questions (I'm ESL so be warned):

What kinds of first impressions do women like?

How do you change your role like for eg. a friend of mine keeps getting called an uke but he doesn't want that title but even when he tries to be "aggressive" it just comes out as dorky?

Does the idea of having a slightly different personality on non-members and members stream seem okay or even appealing to you? for eg. Being a Boybestfriend on regular streams but in members you slightly open up and leave crumbs of what is really (You) or does it make is look like you're more fake in the eyes of your audience?

Do majority of you like it subtle approach or a more confident one?

What kinds of Gap Moe scenarios do you think works? Like for say Confident guy but when intimate moments stutter when talking to you or like a soft subtle person giving monologue on how he will get confident and serious just for you?

What kind of demographics are generally on the female side? I heard there is also a side where they like it when their men are straight. So knowing the margins would be helfpful.

Lastly, When doing handcam stuff what are your insights on this? I generally have a slim white hand with pinkish tips but it has some slight hair in it (I promise its really thin and not caveman like looking). Do you prefer like no gloves? What kind of hands do we like?

Btw thanks for the fu-pedia. Its really helpful. (≧◡≦)

It's all right, your english is fine! And I've been on 4chan for a while I know how to ignore them.

>What kinds of first impressions do women like?
Every woman is different, so focus on putting out the personality YOU want to do. In terms of VTubing, establish the kind of personality you wish for people to see you as. Do you want to be the cool asshole, the cute shy boy, the happy genki personality? You can be cool and confident, or reserved and shy, we will like either of those. And if you can't stick to a personality type, just be yourself.

>How do you change your role
Dorky can be cute as well but I can see why some people may not like getting called an uke. Try to practice being more confident. Expect things to go the way you want them to. Give out commands as if you're the boss (but don't be too much of an ass right off the bat). Try doing this in small steps as you learn how to get more assertive. I'll use Vox's White Day voice pack as an example: he sounds very sweet but still gives the listener simple instructions; he expects the listener to be obedient but not in an asshole-ish way which gives him a confident and dominant vibe and a lot of women like that.

>Does the idea of having a slightly different personality on non-members and members stream seem okay
If it's a scenario themed stream, then it's fine. For example if you usually have a sweet personality but want to do a yandere scenario stream for members, then people will like that. If you're giving key personality points/character development in members only streams, then a lot of your wider audience may miss out on getting to know you better. That's why it's better to be yourself if you have a hard time staying in character for long (or you can try the gap moe route and do one personality and your real one comes out later).

>subtle approach or a more confident one
Depends on what you are more comfortable doing and what comes naturally. Majority of women like confident men, but since you'll be an anime avatar it could go either way. I will say though a subtle approach can be stretched out longer, leaving people wanting more. So you can keep it up for longer if you go the subtle route.

>Gap Moe scenarios do you think works
I think the first one tends to work the best. Confident guys showing their soft side is a huuuuuuuge turn on for women whether they're a weeb or not. If a guy gets confident and serious just for the audience, that's also a turn on because it means the guy is thinking about you and will go out of his way to please you.

>demographics
I think there are mostly yumejoshi (women who self insert being with their oshi). Fujoshi are still rare and niche, at least in the western side (but it's complicated and I'm not going into details on that here). You can be straight but it would be best to turn it down talking about other girls too much. Some don't mind, but we mostly like it when you talk to us that way. Some yumejoshi like a bit of the yaoi stuff too, but it's all dependent on what you're comfortable with.

>When doing handcam stuff what are your insights on this?
As long as it's not overly hairy, it's fine. You're a man so you'll have soem type of hair and we expect that, but we don't mind hairless or soft hands either. Slim hands are beautiful too!

I'm actually not sure about this one. I don't watch Holostars since I don't know enough Japanese. I hear it's because Cover doesn't promote them well enough, but I think it could be other factors. My best guess is because Hololive is known for mostly female VTubers and catering to a straight male audience, so trying to have a male branch with a mostly straight audience won't really work out. With Nijisanji at least, people knew they would get males because of the JP side and they have less restrictions, so that's why they're more successful.

Thank you for you're insight anon, this is a surprisingly detailed summation of the nuances of being a male v-tuber. Do keep it up, one good thing about posting here is despite the fools and retarded folks that post here, there are indeed people who look for advice and criticisms here due to the anonymous nature of this board. I'd also like to add some things.

You can get away with bro interactions, akin to the dream SMP People/ Danplan. You don't necessarily have to fujobait if you are uncomfortable, since if you are confident and passionate on the things you talk about you are able to get a good grasp on the conversation and engage people.

Also in regards to chat, being able to engage with chat is one of the harder things that you have to eventually pick up, I've seen some v tubers and streamers that suck at it hard but were able to develop over time. (Kuzuha for example). The best example for an english v tuber who knows how to banter well with his chat is Fulgur, check his streams, as he usually notices the comments of those who add more to the play through or share their insights in regards to their playthrough.

Also to add to your point; I've found most fujos will love it if you share literally any interests with them. I have fujo friends that I met through reading fanfic/MMOs/forum RP and most of them are excited to just meet anyone who is patient enough to listen to them freak out over their hobbies in general. If you share even BASIC interests with the fujoshi community, it's pretty easy to carve a niche based solely on common ideas alone. The amount of people who actually are willing to give anyone into even KIND of niche hobbies is so fucking slim that even if you want to avoid pandering, just being interested in the same things as your presumable yume/fujo fanbase puts you insanely far ahead of people like, hilariously, Vox.

This is very true. If I ever found a male VTuber who is into Kamen Rider as much as I am, it's over. I will empty my entire savings for him (but not enough before I get my first belt kek). It's also because fujoshi have very little content out there for us, so we have to make our own. So finding anyone with even slightly similar interests is like finding a gold mine because it's so rare. Fujo content attracts people who are into very niche things since BL is still very niche. So when we finally get fed we get reeeeeaaaally into things and try to make it popular if it appeals to us (see: NU Carnival. I've personally never seen a yaoi porn game for mobile like that so I'm not surprised it blew up the way it did).

No age is too old, it all depends on your personality. I have a friend who is into wayyy older men and draws very handsome men that look like they're in their late 40s or even 50s. There are a lot of women who are into older guys, especially if they're confident and have dominant energy. If you have a talent, enthusiasticly talk about something you're really into, and let your true self shine through, there will always be an audience for you. Fulgur sounds old as heck but he has found a pretty good audience despite that, so you can do it too! Just be very engaging and talk with your audience. Don't let age be a reason you don't do something. As long as you're alive, you can do and be whatever you want to be!

Being quiet isn't really a bad thing. If you have friends then that must mean they like you just the way you are. If you wish to work on being more confident and talk more, then talk to those friends that you have more often. The more you speak, the better you get at it, and it's best to practice around the people you trust. Your personality will come out over time the more you talk, so don't force anything. Talking fast could mean you're really into the subject matter, so it's not inherently a bad thing. I would say focus on one thought at a time so your brain can keep up with your thoughts. If it branches off to something else in the conversation with the person you're talking to and they're still keeping up, then it means you're engaging and that's not a bad thing either.

>>21567976

Anime
Free! - depicts males almost in a way females in anime have been depicted for so long (but not quite the same in my opinion since it's a sports anime). Works well and was popular because of the character dynamics and development. Did a lot of ship baiting without even having characters kiss. The wet boys showing their muscles was just a bonus. Also true for most other sports anime like Haikyuu.
SK8 The Infinity- same dynamics, but this time has a chaotic hot villain. Good character development, lot pf people related to the villain and even some men found the anime to be pretty entertaining.
Promare- Galo is a good example of acting cool at first then being cute later on. Good reference for that type of personality while being entertained at the same time.
Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE- just good for cute boys being cute and doing cute boy things. Wasn't too popular, but it was decent. Good reference if you want to know what cute boys doing Sakamoto Desu Ga- Cool boy doing cool things. Good reference if you want to know how to give off confident energy. Even if you're in a situation where you could fuck up, playing it off cool will be remembered more than the fuck up itself.
Meganebu!- more cute boys doing cute things. Also really funny.
Orenchi No Furo Jijo- even more cute boys doing cute things, but with monster boys (which is another extremely rare thing we get).
Watamote- it's good if you want to know what goes on inside the mind of a degenerate female weeb
Hetalia- funny boys doing funny things. You can see the subtle yaoi baiting despite being a mainly comedy series, hence the huge female audience it had back in the good ol' days like >>21568298 said

Games
I haven't played many BL games unfortunately kek but I've played through DMMD. Only has porn in the endings but basically it's popular because of how fucked up it can get. Same with Nitro+ Chiral's other games. Women are into some fucked up shit and I want to tell you this because I don't want anyone to feel like they're walking on eggshells when it comes to dark humor. Remember, majority of women have a rape fetish, so don't be afraid to tell some dark jokes (when appropriate, of course).

Honestly anon, I think more importantly than knowing "fujo culture" is another aspect, that is extreme self-confidence and ability to shake off the cringe. That is what Vox does all the time and it's what makes him stand out.
Fulgur knows way more about fujo culture than him and yet isn't able to pull the same numbers. Why? He lacks the confidence that Vox has, he's scared of being cringe, hence how he dropped Disco Elysium after just one day of streaming it, has triggerhappy mods that delete any comments whatsoever, etc.
Now Vox talks about all his cringe FNAF obsessions all the time, plays runescape whenever he likes, burps loudly and doesn't mute, does bad anime-tier lore streams and yet people still love and idolize him. Why? The magic combo of self-confidence and ability to shake off cringe. Without these two, it's impossible to give a try on beating him. And training said two skills requires a minimum a few years of intense grass touching

Glad I could help! I've got to brush up on some more BL myself, but I can recommend anything by Ayano Yamane is good. Lot of sex though so if you can't handle it, steer clear. Same with Starfighter. Kiss Him, Not Me is good for peeking into the mind of a fujoshi as well, but I haven't finished it yet to give it a fair review. Other than the series that have already been mentioned, I can't think of much else off the top of my head.

If you can find any anime with good male character dynamics interacting with another male character with good dynamics, chances are fujos will be into it even if it's geared toward a primarily male audience (see: My Hero Academia and other shounen anime. How do I bring in elements of this without getting overly creepy. There's a lot of build up and characterization for the men in these stories but as a vtuber, new viewers might be creeped out if I come on too strong. They know what to expect when reading these but not so much when they just drop by a stream. Any suggestions on how to create that "atmosphere" for lack of a better word to let viewers anticipate what they can expect to get?

>interacting with another male character with good dynamics,
I haven't found a good male collab partner that I trust with this. Too many of them just devolve into pee pee poo poo jokes with crude humor and lewd noises meant for out of context clipping. I've been looking for male collab partners I can tease out a longer and slower burn when it comes to that tension. It's just a difficult to find them.

Really good questions. I'd say building it up over time isn't a bad thing since it would be a good way to convince (without outright saying so) people to watch VODs (for example, I didn't know why people were shipping Luca with Ike, so I went back and watched both A Way Out streams. They were long, but worth the watch). Don't worry about establishing everything right away because you're right, people may get turned off if you come on too strong one way or another (like Fulgur, lot of people dropped him immediately because he was TOO much of an asshole and didn't play it off right. People warmed up later to him, but it's good to have a few asshole lines little by little instead of bombard people with too much at one time).

When it comes to streams, do things that fit in naturally. If you feel like it should be a chill comfy stream, give the edgy or sexual jokes a rest. If you're streaming a rage game and the more dirty jokes come out, then let it happen. This is why I say to stay true to your own personality if you feel you may not be able to keep up a character for too long. Sometimes things come out even if you don't mean them to, and most people are able to read the room and act when it's appropriate. Think about the atmosphere you wish to create, then ease into it little by little. The viewers will pick up on this as they get to know you.

I see how it can be hard to find a person like that, so it just depends on where you look. The place you look for a person will tell you everything you need to know about the people in that place (like that one scene in Coming To America; you go to a cheap club looking for a partner, you'll likely find cheap trashy girls. You go to a nice place, you'll find nice girls). Just keep it in your mind and you will manifest that which you wish to see. Try to find a small discord group of a handful of chill people. Hell, a tiny private facebook group could even work. You might even meet someone IRL at a convention (conventions are unironically good places to meet like-minded people).

The biggest part I haven't seen anyone bring up is fanart. Fanart is what makes a fujo tick. You can be the best panderer who hits all her right niches with a rich backstory with your teetee partner and she'd still care about another blander vtuber ship because of the fanart. They don't really exist and think about shipping in their head, they must form a community over it and make art/talk about it with others. If you begin your streams right off the bat wanting to pander to female otaku and fujos you're going to do badly if you jump on the yaoi train immediately. I've seen some indies do this and aside from pleasing their 2 out of 5 lifetime fans it does not get you anywhere alone.

When I was working in customer service, my voice would get high enough that I've had men and women call me "ma'am" over the phone, so I've got that going for me I guess. I'll keep that in mind while I look at some vtuber artists.

This is only partially true. You can easily spawn interesting fan art from having interesting streams because those fan arts still depend mainly on you. Art can keep people interested and give them a reason to talk, but in the end it's still on the streamer to create the content to base that fan art off of. We do think about shipping in our head and a lot of fujos who can't draw or write simply blab about it on twitter to their friends and it can spread even by that way. Even jokes among a few friends can grow into a meme that helps spread the word of the VTuber. Talking about it with others is a bonus but not always a necessity. The rest I agree on with starting the pandering right off the bat. It can probably explain why most fujoshi love slow burn stories; dragging it out and building that tension is more appealing because it helps the viewer get more connected to the characters.

>>21579890
I've seen some of the plainest most boring generic designs get insanely popular, so it doesn't really matter design wise. But if you want something that will appeal to a larger audience, the safest way to go is a bishounen design with long pretty hair. We love shota too so if you have a higher pitched and/or soft voice you can be a shota. Non-human boys are good for attracting the more freaky fan artists that will draw some weird shit for you (I also secretly want this because I love shota monster boys).

I recommend their album REGALITY. Since I'm a fujoshi and not a yumejoshi, I can't give much advice on what they find hot smut-wise. For the most part, I think all women like a man who is possessive and/or protective. Men that give all their attention to the woman and let her know that she's the only one in the world might be very appealing to them. Anything that makes a woman feel comfort could be a universally enjoyable thing.

In the mobile game department there's idolish7 and A3! that are very popular with both nip and en/sea girls, they have animes and the main female character has a "canon" ship even if she's nice with all the boys (keep in mind both pushed ships are with the mature older scary men with a hidden heart of gold) but they're never canon

Cute model and if they have interesting streams I would watch. Personally I think if there's going to be a non-human model it would need to have more humanoid features than that. At least with the top half. Something cute and mascot-like would work well because women love cute things and if they had an endearing relationship with their fellow vtubers, then that would definitely add to their charm. I share your sentiment and wish there were a lot more non-human models, I think companies play it really safe when it comes to designs unfortunately. But hey, that's where the fans come in. If you demand it enough, it could happen. If enough people contact a company and tell them what they want to see, most of the time they do listen.

Disco Elysium has a crazy amount of political satire, and people are too retarded to differentiate overall ideology from actual politics. It also covers a lot of topics that you might not want to have on stream, like:
>sexuality
>race
>how your personal identity can interfere with your view of reality
If you're trying to avoid nuanced shit like that as a streamer, which is pretty reasonable considering a 10s clip could end your career, it's definitely easy to yab.
Of course, if you're able to differentiate fiction from reality and can explain it your audience, there's probably not a huge issue. Definitely easy to yab if you flunk a social roll and the MC's attempts to insult the racist NPC accidentally turns into HOW DO YOU DO MY FELLOW WHITES, even if it is hilarious.

YES. Fucking yes. 100000% fucking yes. I'm so glad you bought this up.

I'll try not to go too long about this but I need to really fucking let this out. The whole "BL is queer representation and qweer wimminz of colur enjoy qweer content uwu" bullshit is nothing but an excuse to appeal to antis. No one ever has and actually looks at two cute anime boys kissing and thinks "muh representation uwuwwuuwuwu". There is some overlap between queer people liking or feeling connected to some character dynamics and situations in BL, but twitter schizos make it way more deep than it is. I'll take myself as an example; I'm asexual and don't feel attracted to either sex, so I enjoy yaoi because it doesn't involve women and it doesn't involve "me" so it's enjoyable because I feel uncomfortable looking at things that involve "me" (self-insert, anything involving a woman, etc). I can look at this sexy object without wanting it for myself. But I wouldn't go so far as to start parading it around as an accomplisment because I "found my sexuality" or it helped me "come to terms with my queerness". It may be the case for some, but I specifically hate when twittards think authors should win an award for "muh LGBT representation" when 10 times out of 10 it was drawn for nothing more than schlick material. I fucking hate "fujos" that like to immediately attach the term LGBT to anything remotely gay with a burning passion because they're just fucking doing it to impress underage ironic lesbian kpop stans who send death threats to artists just for drawing two anime boys looking at each other. Fucking hell there's even this one artist who is cisgendered and bisexual that likes to CONSTANTLY quote tweet these retarded underage FtM antis with "uHmMMM!!! ACKSHUWALLY how do you know I'm cis????? I'm not straight you know. Many queer and not cishet folx are into BL!!! Take that, you're homophobic now" and I CANNOT fucking stand it. What do you have to prove to these teenagers? Why are you going out of your way to impress these tweens who have no idea how to fucking behave on the internet? You can explain a 63 tweet long thread of resources from therapists, LGBT people, trauma survivors, and other related groups but they're still going to tell you to kill yourself on tweet number 64. God these people are so pretentious and I hate them so much for adding all this shit. I don't even want to associate with "the LGBT community" because of these fucking people. It's fiction, nothing but a fantasy. It's not supposed to be that deep and I hate them for trying to relate fantasy so much to real life shit. Fuck.

Starsfag here, would like to add some things from a male group liker. First, no group with the amount of merchs and collabs holostars have is a failure, they don't have the huge fans luxiem have sure, but they have a loyal core fans who would buy every shit connected to stars.
Holostars did have a terrible beginning, what >>21565202 said are mostly true and at the time there's a lack of support from cover too but they have inclined since. They also lost 3 members but the remaining ones kept grinding until they can have 3d models and then a live.

Since this thread was about fujobait, then let me tell you about holostars' own fujobait; hanakishi. This pair is not just a pair dedicated to bait shipping out of fans, but something that came out naturally. They collabed often because they have same interest and they are closest to each other in the group. They also never go overboard with the teasing, so the ones who didn't care for this stuff can see them as bffs instead.

Hi fujo, I'm a yumejoshi. :konata: I'll answer some of these questions too.
>>21563582
>First impressions women like?
Beyond just what women like, first impressions are everything in vtubing. You really need to be a nobody vtuber and listen to what people think of you, women especially before a big debut like Nijisanji EN for example. If women are treating you lukewarm, you're not going to get them just because you join NijiEN or Holostars EN. Contrast weak Holostar JP debuts and study them compared to how strong Vox's first impression was. He had perfect control over his voice and all girls were paying attention to specifically him before he even debuted.
>How do I change my top/bottom role if I get put into one I don't like?
I'd first of all accept someone calling you an uke for example, laugh at it a bit. Then slowly try to reverse it with more dom moments over time. If you force it too hard like your friend, you will be laughed at. A man who's truly on top doesn't have to try to be anything, he just simply is strong so people listen to him.
Also, you must almost always be a dom if you want to cater to yumejoshi. If you get the uke label, stick to fujos.
>Do you want in-character always?
If you "normal" character is too weak it'd ruin it. For example, if your in-character is a strong daddy type, but in members only you're just some guy, it can destroy immersion, ironically for your best payers. Just be something that's not too far from your normal self so it's not such a big difference.
>Subtle or confident?
Confident, but not obnoxious or cocky. This will be a fine line you'll need to learn to walk if you want to top. I only personally want someone that actually sounds like a top or strong man, but that's typical of yumejoshis. There's too many femboy, soft boys, autistic sound/bad lisps, gay sounding and I don't pay attention to them at all. I personally want him to talk, act mostly straight (if he's with his genmates and flirting it's fine.) and can command the room, gently.
>What gap moe do I like?
I personally don't like gap moe because it's usually accidental or can show miscasting. A female example would be Bae being cast as Chaos, but she's not chaotic at all. Don't try to do gap moe or think too much about it, it's supposed to be something unintentional.
>What other demographics are on the female side? What about straight?
That's yumejoshi and that's why I'm posting here. A lot of the Fujoshi OP's advice runs counter to hooking yumejoshi. If you can act straight, confident, and dom and have the voice to pull it off, similar to Vox or pleasantly masculine, it can send you into your own niche that's actually been untapped.
>Handcam?
For fujo's soft little boyish hands are perfect for the uke stereotype. But I'd immediately drop out. You have to have nice, noticeably big hands. I personally would like to see some veins and some strength to the arms, like you work out.

>some men tend to have this preconceived notion that women don't like hear ing men talk about nerdy things
That's cause that's generally the case in real life but I guess things are different when it's done through a screen.
Also I guess there being no social pressurr to act as if you're interested of you really aren't helps too

no, even in real life, i love listening to men talk about their hobbies and interests. i find it's mostly other men who shame each other into bottling it up.

I don't think I can ever recall a time in my life where a girl told me to stop talking about a topic I like. It's always guys and my friends who do this. Mind you, I'm not rambling unprompted, it arises when the topic comes around.

It's more like everyone's heard of those horror stories of the enthusiastic wow fan babbling on about his level 69 paladin to some girl he met at the local game shop who clearly couldn't be less interested if she tried but the guy just can't get the hint

>> No.21621366

>>21621280
that's because the girl he met at the local game shop just wants to pick up the game she bought and has on hold. she doesn't want to chitchat with some random guy who rambles on about his own wow character. that's not the case when you're streaming because they're literally there and watching your stream for you.

context is important. sucks that many guys don't get it.

Thanks Anon, seeing your feedback gives me the impression of Fujos and Yumes being on polar opposites. But I do have to wonder if there's a chance or a way to pander to both sides and satisfy them. A common denominator on the preferences of both sides would be really helpful.

Fujos and Yumes exist in every male vtuber fandom. You just have to know which one makes a majority of your audience and make sure not to upset them. The minority will just gladly do fanart and fanfiction.

I'd argue that you don't have to always be dominant using Ike as an example. He's kind, polite and has a high voice that only goes higher but still has a lot of yumejo fans. The points that he does have though that potentially help cultivate this are the 'yandere Ike' fandom that spawned from literally one stream, and his metal screams. If any /asp/ here want to go look at the casts for otome games, you'll see a range of characters in them. The one thing that usually makes the softly spoken and kind seeming ones popular in those though is usually when they're the type who'll lock the player in a cage. You wouldn't even have to play into it much if you have a softer voice and are going for the yume audience, just a little hint here and there to fuel the fantasies.

It's also inevitable that you'll end up with fujo fans no matter what you do, even if they're a minority in your fandom if you even collab once with another guy, there will be someone out there that will start shipping the two of you.

One factor to note is that, the v tuber himself not really making a huge deal about it.

One advantage males have over females is that male vtubers have little or no backlash when it comes to collaborations with different genders. This is due to the idol mentality not being nurtured well enough on the guys. Plus the male side of v tubing back then was a niche covered by Nijisanji, and they essentially set the standards of the fans for male v tubers, this is seen in their sister company virtureal, Aza and Roi are the ones i can think on the top of my head. Despite collaborating with girls they had very little backlash and even went and did 3d concerts with a bunch of them.

Vox does pander to various fandoms, he panders to fujoshis with his interactions with luxiem, panders to those wishing a boyfriend experience and panders to others with his gaming/tryhard/ oddball streams like his fnaf streams. He panders to ahipers by doing his shtick with reimu, has the added benefit of the yumejos self inserting as reimu( this is a bit weird and more of a vope by the yumejos on billi billi but they surprisingly calmed down after the few collabs they did.)

If you're curious as to how the SEA and EA fandom handles this, they really don't give much ducka, save for the few rotten apples, most od which are in billi billi and 2chan.
