Infront is a small flattened ground, adored along the perimeter by neatly arranged stones and empty glass bottles filled with battery operated fairy lights. It's a wedding altar, in a secluded part of the woods, built by hand in preparation for the shotgun wedding that would inevitably catapult Nyanners and Aethel out of this town and onto the open road along with their unborn child. Vei quickly hides in the brush as she hears the strained voice of her once partner in middle school dictatorship. The 3rd in command, the softy of what used to be the baddest group of bitches in Viewmode Middle. She was never known to be a strong presence, but when you see her, clearly in the early stages of pregnancy and wearing heavy embroidered shawl, something about Nyanners radiated danger. Not a limo, that's passe. On the big night, Vei and her man arrive in a candy apple red horse drawn carriage, complete with glitter and groomed white stallions. The fairytale is cut short however as the audience gasps and chatters without Nyanners frail vocalizations in earshot. What's the point in putting on a show if your rival won't even know? This can't be, everyone is there. Mousey is being flung through the air like an actress in a Pasek and Paul scored musical as the couples begin what will culminate in a dirty rendition of the cupid shuffle. The lights are colorful and the music loud, but not enough to drown out the doubts swirling in Vei's head. "Has Nyanners completely disowned us? Does she think she's better than me? She's never been better than me and that bitch is just running now that she's realized it." As if to cut through the noise, a dagger into her psyche, a siren sounds. The fire trucks are approaching and a voice comes on the PA system in a startled tone. "Attention students and faculty of Viewmore High, we regret to inform you that a forest fire has begun nearby. We ask that everyone remain calm and evacuate the school, arrangements have already been made to shuttle anyone without a car to the nearby VA hall." As Vei navigated the shockingly apathetic cloud of evacuees, it dawned on her. "that bitch really did lose it." Smoke covers the school as sired and alarms invade the air, yet a distinctly shitty sound can be made out through the foley and chatter. A shitty old prius, plowing through the nighttime air and heading to the only freeway out of state.
