I'm in the same boat as her. She literally only needed to learn Japanese and it's pretty easy if you have the time for it. English is usually the second language for non-burgers and is taught extensively in primary education and is quite literally the easiest language to learn.

Start studying the basics and once you learn enough to understand some media start consuming it in that language.
Studying actively is tedious as fuck, but playing a videogame isn't, and if it's in another language, your brain slowly starts learning like a sponge and getting used to it. If you don't know a word, look it up, but don't consume media too complicated for your current level. If you are a begginer at japanese, try Pokemon in it's kana version.

It's not easy, but the anons are definitely not pushing it hard enough. Forming sentences requires you to actually practice forming sentences either by talking or writing and reading a lot of nip to understand how to write them. I've seen a lot of people just practice grammar and vocab, but they put it to real life use.
