The only part of a bread dog capeable of exploding would be the battery which is inside the frame. Bread dogs do not regenerate. You have to bake bread dog a new loaf once every few weeks. If a bread dog's frame is destroyed then it cannot be repaired without advanced robotics. If the battery explodes then the whole frame is fucked, the chips are fucked, and the bread dog permanently dies. Exploding bread dogs aren't happening.

Very well done, the usage of roman titles is a bit surprising, frankly I hadn't even considered using them, I'll probably still use the modern names when referring to them in lore since it comes easier to me.
Also, we're probably one of the bigger and most populated states in the world and I was going by that assumption.

>> No.20964955

It's usually called theocracy (even if /risu/ seems more decentralised than most RL examples), although I guess that term can be a bit confusing since one country is (presumably) ruled by an actually present goddess instead of just the clergy. we can teach you the way of the cult too...

Post? Uhhh those are mostly for domestic rituals. Plus it would get spoiled during shipment across the seas.
So I suggest getting a slave that has been properly fed and exercised if you want special beef.
We're not kidding. Food tastes great when the animals are treated well. So our slaves are given the best treatment possible. Free healthcare, short working hours, lots of exercise, socializing and entertainment.

For those that still want to lay in bed with natives know that there is a punishment for doing so. Also if any natives give birth to cross-bred /nasa/ offspring then they better keep them secret. Indeed, the citizens' propensity for wearing barely any clothes have lent much to this supposition, as it is sometimes difficult to discern a half-naked woman talking to one as either propositioning for sex, or for a more innocuous reason. The truth of the matter, of course, is that over the many centuries, such Port cities have taken on this reputation as a necessity, as /ggg/ is the central hub of trade towards all major continents, and the demand has always been there for entertainment of all kinds. Though certain communes have objected to this, from a moral standpoint, and have even banned it in their areas; it is not explicitly prohibited in the Constitution, and therefore remains a gray area.

Okay. If you have plans on money system in /nasa/ then go for it.

>> No.20997068

>>20996504
There really wouldn't be any plans. While a society that would need money could develop in the future generations, right now we are still a very "we all do what we need to do to help the collective" type of group. Any money that we would get from our bakeries in /who/ and other countries would directly go into the treasury(if not used to buy materials in said countries which would then be sent back), which we could then use to buy materials from any merchants that come to us.

>> No.20997979

>>20997068
Since we're going to use gold for materials and trade with other nations what we can do is set up a ledger for credits. We don't have contact with home, but we do have the programs for banking apps. If we're going to diversify jobs then we need to diversify rations appropriately. Blacksmiths, miners, and other labor heavy jobs would need more meat and drinking water. So credits would be a way for them to manage their own needs. Also credits would be restricted in /nasa/. So if they want to buy goods from other nations then they need gold and silver. Maybe copper coins too.

Credits can be converted to gold but there's a fee to do so. Credits could be backed on /nasa/'s fuel directly since its a crypto coin. This is just some ideas insomnia gave me. I wouldn't say credits are fiat. They are backed by a resource (fuel to mine coins). Which means there's a number of them. More fuel would also mean more coins. So its a balancing act.

Having the Peculiar Institution wasn't exactly my original intention when I added that in the natural resource entry, but I think it does make sense, so I should probably expand upon that part later when I have ideas. Good job there, fellow /meat/ heads and other interested parties!

I think depending on the type of slaves (which determines how they will be used in the end and thus how they'll be treated beforehand), even menial tasks might not be necessary. Regular exercise will be required, but otherwise some of them probably only have to work if they want to.

I think if we have to generalise /meat/ slavery, then its biggest departure from the garden variety (or theme park version) of slavery is that the slaves generally don't have to work. Some might suffer (like the one in the fleshwright story), and all (barring those who get sold to some rich foreigners like in /kfp/, but they're probably an exception) will end up on the table, but before that they don't need a work output - the clergy will do their output onto them. I think it's an interesting take on the concept of slavery.

SEA midnight time and NA work time, plus admittedly /meat/ doesn't have a very big poster base. We can only hope we'll eventually get an EN /meat/ chuuba.

>>20978812
To elaborate on that, /meat/ is pretty knowledgeable in medicine and surgery (in the practical sense, compared with what /nasa/ would theoretically know). In addition to that, /meat/ likely is skilled in making use of enhanced medicine and drugs to achieve certain effects, with the most prominent one likely being chuubanite-enriched meat that will speed up healing speed (but not the limit of natural healing). Just don't ask where the meat comes from, although we do have more at home for those who become unaccountably peckish...

>>20982871
To be fair, depending on the answer to the second question, even the plain truth would be effective enough a propaganda. Of course, it would be in /meat/'s interest to push for the idea that living a happy life for (say) a year before being sacrificed and eaten is an improvement over spending the rest of your day in squabble fighting over scraps of food, which might well be true for many of them.

Currently, we're working on the idea that the language will make use of Norse sentence structure and many of its root words, but with Nahuatl affix (in particular suffix) system. Ironing out the orthography would be nice - personally, I'm thinking something runic, but with additional letters derived from Nahuatl to write the phonemes unique to them. Having a more consistent romanisation scheme (since Nahuatl romanisation is mostly based on Spanish) can go a long way too.
On the language itself, I think introducing some Nahuatl root words (especially those pertaining to religious and statecraft ideas) into the lexicon would make it more organic too, as is making some Norse words into affixes.

>>21004905
Sanitation, yes. We won't want the captives to get sick before their time, after all, especially given how long some of the rituals might last while having the body be... exposed to pathogen.
As for germs, not too sure. I don't think /meat/ necessarily know about their existence, just enough experience to have a decently solid idea on how to prevent infections and diseases.

Probably not good enough for forensic investigation, but good enough for keeping things clean and hygienic.
That said, if /nasa/ sanitation goods proved to be more effective while being reasonably-priced (which will likely depend a lot on whether they can be manufactured now), /meat/ would be open to importing them.

How often do you think slaves would try to escape when the time for their ritual is approaching, and what do you think the rate of success would be? Would you have had more break-outs in the past that have caused you to have a better system for, uh, culling such attempts?

>> No.21009164

>>21008220
For foreign slaves, given that many of them were/are captured in raids and are likely not very willing, I imagine escape attempts used to be somewhat frequent, although the success rate might not be very high - those with more obvious will to resist will be kept under closer eyes and possibly restraints (the one from the fleshwright story probably is one, hence he's basically not allowed much mobility), and those who manage to flee from /meat/ cities and camps probably won't know enough surviving tropical rainforest to return to their home.
That definitely will result in countermeasures that keep the current escape rate low. In addition to a more rigorous selection system that identifies and remove rebellious captives from the rest early, an ample supply of drugs will likely diminish their will and means to escape too. Of course, having the idea that they'll be treated better than what most associate human sacrifice captives should help reduce resistance too, as is having the slaves from a more miserable condition before being captured.
/meat/ is also pretty open about what is the most likely fate for the captives, as they see no points in deceiving them. In fact, the clergy will probably double- and triple-check with any willing aspiring slaves, making sure that they know they won't have the luxury to quit once it's done, and most will meet their end on the altar rather than being bought by some chuubanite barons.

1/2

>> No.21009198

>>21009164 (Me)
For domestic slaves, the escape rate will likely be low to non-existent, if we base it on what few documents we have on Aztec captives. Similar to them, /meat/ slaves probably are mostly content with their fate, which also results in them being treated more nicely and allowed more freedom for any unfinished business. Some might even receive monetary compensation to help with that. While we know that some Aztec captives had to be dragged to the altar, it seems the resistance is more due to the fact that said captives were from Aztec's enemies rather than the idea of human sacrifice (which was pretty common in Mesoamerica), and they were not particularly happy about being freed (the liberators being Spaniards probably didn't help) - it seems for them, the only fate worse than being sacrificed by the enemy is not being sacrificed after it has been determined. For /meat/, since domestic captives are sourced, well, domestically, the enemy factor would not be present, which means they would be pretty chill about being sacrificed - indeed, it might be a great honour to them and their family.

There's really not that much stuff to do this week so it should be a fairly straightforward job for anyone that takes it up. One of you guys of the most active threads in this general should volunteer yourselves for this week.
Bye the way, adding a suggestion for this week:
Assuming this vote round also goes smoothly, we'll have mostly ironed out some general organisational parameters for the general; do you think it would be appropriate for us to send another round of envoys come the start of next week, or should we wait until the globe rework and 3D mapping is done?

It was originally meant to be a supplement to the /meat/ levy rentry, but it ends up being something involving both land and sea:
***
Mass levy has been part of /meat/ society since its beginning as a raider state. It is commonly divided into two types - leidangr and ferd, also known as sea levy and land levy respectively. Leidangr is primarily provided by coastal or riverside settlements, while ferd is usually sourced from landlocked settlements.

Leidangr requires every settlement "along flowing waters" - be it coast or navigatable rivers - to construct and maintain a certain number of ships and mariners. The exact number is based on the location, size, and industry of a given settlement - major cities are expected to maintain a larger fleet, while multiple coastal villages might cooperate to maintain a single ship. When a raid is announced, the clergy can invoke leidangr, where both the ships and their crew will be required to participate in the raid. While theoretically a duty, the conscripted ships and sailors are entitled to a certain amount of spoils obtained from the raid. Combined with the potential prestige of participation, it is not uncommon for major settlements to donate more resources to leidangr than obligated.

Complementing the navally-minded leidangr, ferd is focused on land combat and naval boarding. Similar to leidangr, every settlement not eligible to leidangr is expected to provide and support a certain number of armed soldiers, with their size and industry determining the exact number. Ferd levy is expected to be armed to a certain degree, although more affluent individuals can often afford gears of superior quality. When the clergy invoke ferd, either as part of a raid or defence against foreign invaders, the levy will be raised as part of /meat/ military.

Believed to be an ancient institution, both leidangr and ferd survive to the present day, long after the professional soldier core and dedicated warship fleet of /meat/have become its primary military force. Nowadays, leidangr often serve as logistic and transport ships for raids, while ferd serve as an auxiliary force to support the professional military when non-combat duties or low-intensity combat is expected.

Moving on, I don't believe this anon is acting in good faith.
Regarding the "current year" discussion from the other day, I have a proposal:
All countries have whatever calendar they prefer, but most of the scientific communities of the world tend to place historical events relative to an event that reverberated throughout the entire world, Kizuna AI's debut. Anno AI, or Anno Kizuna.
With that, I'd put the current year a nice amount of years from that event, so that there's space for all the histories that have arisen since. Maybe we're in 4000 AK? 5000 AK?

>> No.21021488

That is a bit controversial. The communities of most vtubers on /vt/ pre-date /vt/. How can countries pre-date the world where they exist? I would say that /vt/ is just what we currently call a world that hasn't always been /vt/.

we've been through this, /jp/ is a different realm. otherwise, it gets way more complicated to accurately represent everything, especially since there are still vtuber threads on /jp/, and since /jp/ still exists. if you want the calander to predate the world, so be it, but it makes more sense to me this way.

I mean if we've decided in-thread on how the pole situation should be resolved you can just mention it in the vote itself, though voting on it would be a kind of formality to make sure everyone knows how the lands (and oceans) at the poles came to be.
>>21011092
Well, ideally we'd be transferring the ecit code from rep to rep per week to keep the same rentry archives for consistency, but finding a safe way to do so is a bit bothersome. Instead, what we can do is copy the info from one archive into a new one. If you press on the edit button while looking at a rentry archive, it still allows you to edit the text (but not save any changes), so you can easily copy all the text and transfer it over to a new link.
You could also try to do what the /nasfaqg/ rep suggested last time, by making a set form of how vote posts and ballots should be presented to make them easier to vote on. Also, you don't have to do exactly what I did last week, if you have any ideas you think would be better for clarity/processing/etc feel free to apply them.

Look at it this way; yes, /jp/ is a different realm, we can ignore it entirely. It's got a bunch of off-topic 3DPD anyway. But /hlgg/ existed before /vt/, much /hlgg/ lore was created before /vt/, and /hlgg/ still exists on /vt/ today. >> No.21022212

>>21022049
Seconding this, creation of /vt/ should be the turning point of the calendars, it would make sense if the people that just went through an interdimensional portal into an uninhabited world started a different calendar then.
We could alternatively do something like, idk Skyrim, and have the world be in changing eras instead, with each one lasting a few hundred years or so. We could have a Four heavenly kings era, followed by a Niji era and then a Holo uprising era or something along those lines, with the turn of the latter two being the exodus to /vt/.

>> No.21022287

>>21022212
We can reasonably do both - written history begins when vtuber community starts appearing in /jp/ on a regular basis (which is probably late-niji/early-holo era?), while the time before that is the stuff of legend where archaeological evidence is scarce at best.

Organize, participate in, and round up people to be eaten? I heavily doubt that.
That being said, if a /meat/ visitor presented a contract to an impoverished /nasfaqg/ failure who has given up and would be willing to knowingly sign away their own life for a couple of years of effortless comfort, I doubt anyone would bat an eye, unless there's a plutocrat that for some bizzare reason dedicates his acquired agency, wealth, and will-to-power to "save" those people.

I think it would be unconventional and going against the mainstream, but there are arguments to be made regarding the true "agency" of someone who's completely desperate.

Besides, I'll be real with you, if you have a plutocrat that decides for themselves that he thinks he should save them for whatever reason, it's their own decision. It's their own rules, and they have the power to enact them.

My point is, it'd certainly not be common but I can imagine someone setting themselves a goal like that. Despite what people might think, despite ruthlessly pursuing profit most plutocrats believe in the existence of a "Soul", a moral core that curbs profit, but separates traders from machines or animals. What exactly "Soul" entails differs from person to person.

i don't see how desperation would prevent someone from having agency. it's not like all their options are out the window. they had a whole bunch of options, yet their choice to prioritize comfort during the last few moments of their life is illegitimate because... what? a few plutocrats disagree with their decision? imagine if this logic could be applied elsewhere. someone is about to go bankrupt, they make a risky investment out of desperation hoping it will be the thing that gets them out of poverty, when suddenly some rich jackass says that they weren't in the right mindset to make that decision, and thus lacked agency to make it. they should therefore be "saved" from their choice by nullifying the risky investment. having the freedom to make your own decisions necessarily includes the right to let others make decisions for you, for that is a decision in and of itself. the decision to take their choice from them is what should be considered a violation of their agency, and rights as a human being with a soul.

>> No.21026140

NTA but one can probably argue that said desperation means any deals made would be made under duress, especially when considering that the deal offered by /meat/ would most definitely led to a painful death even if it's well-compensated

same with the risky investment. they could end up in even more debt, but it's their risk to take, and their decision to make. they had other options, yet they chose their path. the word of a contract should be sacred, nullification of a contract should only happen under very specific conditions, and even then should be generally avoided. imagine the chaos that would occur if contracts could be voided prior to their fulfillment, especially when the only one who disagrees with it isn't even affected by the contracts terms.

>a few plutocrats disagree with their decision?
Yes, I'd imagine so. Most plutocrats would be fine with it, be it by standing by or aiding it, but don't think that /nasfaqg/ is some limp-dicked libertarian state with NAP. I'd imagine it being closer to being pretty hardcore Nietzschean in terms of its approach; this means that if an individual has garnered enough will-to-power and means to enforce it to lay down his own rules and his own terms, he can do that, against everyone and any rule who'd say "thou shalt".

The thing that would be sacred would be the ability to rise up, that is, meritocracy and competitiveness. You cannot deny another man a way to rise to the top and profit, for that would make you a tyrant rather than an anti-tyrant.

If someone willingly gives away this freedom for temporary comfort and succumbs to impulses, then as I said, they might as well no longer be human... ironically the very thing that would make most /nasfaqg/ traders indifferent would allow others to wage their own war here.

so you can force someone out of a decision but you can't force them to stay in one?
my argument was mostly about you guys claiming desparation caused them to not have agency. it's a better argument to simply say that the decision to fall back on baser urges makes them an animal, but what profit could be gained by "saving" them if not by selling them back into slavery?

>> No.21027928

>>21027491
A "decision" made between an animal and a barely human predator, both slaves to their urges, isn't a "contract" in the eyes of some traders, for sure.

You wouldn't think that a dog or a cow can enter a contract, would you?

My point is that you'll almost certainly find some individuals who'd be ideologically opposed to it. And, with /nasfaqg/ as it operates, they'd be able to wage their own personal war against it if they wish if it doesn't cut into the profits of others. Something like individual anarchism or anarcho-egoism doesn't fall far from the minarchist society that /nasfaqg/ is.

And as I said, it's not just about profit, most traders also believe in "Soul" to some degree. A set of rules and morals an individual imposes on themselves regardless of profits. If a trader believed that they can rescue /some/ of those people and lift them up from being cornered animals to being human again, I'd wager it falls upon the "Soul" category.

>> No.21028158

you guys sure have a strange system. also, what makes you think /meat/ is a slave to their urges? they enjoy partaking in cannibalism as a cultural/religious act, even if they enjoy it, too, unless everyone at /nasfaqg/ hate's their life and never engages in luxurious behaviors.

>> No.21028492

>>21028158
I'd say that there's a difference between a cultural/religious act which is inherently collectivistic, one that's extremely widespread given how /meat/ parsed its text (beyond just high-class symbolic rituals) and enjoyment of luxury on the part of the individual.

Basically: /meat/ has it ingrained as a mass-scale operation, a collectivist culture phenomenon. It's the difference between a late-stage alcoholic in a society that permits and encourages it and a connoisseur of fine spirits, who does so for the taste, not out of need, obligation, or social pressure.
