Rosetta Stone is only good as a supplement. It'll help you understand spoken language better, but not much more than that, especially not grammar. Without getting too much into it, the best thing you can do is (using Japanese as an example) learn the new characters (hiragana / katakana) and their noises, then speed read a grammar guide but don't waste time since you don't actually learn from the book, it's more like mental oil (Tae Kim's Grammar Guide is usually recommend here, some people prefer Genki), then just use it as much as possible. You learn by using, that's when the grammar you read about will be internalized, too.

I guess it's sort of an acquired taste thing. Grindan for crafting items to upgrade weapons and take down monsters faster, memorizing monsters attack patterns and key weakpoints, and the missions are fairly bite-sized which makes them perfect to pick up and play on something like a handheld. I guess the weighty feel of combat also helps make things satisfying, there's just something about it that scratches my inner caveman itch.

In all those games you have both regular grunts and bosses, you have different objectives, you have different situations to approach in different ways. Here all you do is fight bosses all the time. Sure, you can use different weapons and whatnot, but the entire game still is a really long boss rush mode. It's exhausting.

MH doesn't really seem like TMSK's sort of game. It's a shame that Tokiya never got to become friends with Pikamee. He actually plays Rise too and he'd probably be a great duo partner for her.
