Well preceding the Vtubing world, you couldn't exactly do a "live" event pre-recorded unless it was exclusively broadcasted. You'd have an actual tangible idol that needed to get up on stage in front of you. Guaranteeing it isn't pre-recorded, someone else wearing the model to make their dancing look better, etc. This isn't exclusively for Hololive though. EVERY chuuba that does any sort of performance like this is going to be doing it pre-recorded. Why the fuck wouldn't they? Even if they wanted to do it live, management would make them take the safe option.
