casting my vote as the /rrat/ rep

Nay,
from the last time we tried this, people who don't like the matter voted can easily derail the matter, and it seems the issues present can easily change status within the voting period and the final tally mattering little, there should be a better situation that's less of a hassle.

I think it'll work better if the ore changes properties depending on it's area or refinement. We can have dead zones where it can stop working, or different properties granted depending on the device made. >Abstain, Can someone sum up the situation and arguments for and against?
iirc it was something that the sakuran rep has mostly been pushing for, with the argument for being that fubuki interacts with the stars more and is an arctic fox, so being further north makes sense. The argument against would be that it necessitates changing the map further and it is unknown how those two threads feel about the swap since they are currently inactive.

>from the last time we tried this, people who don't like the matter voted can easily derail the matter, and it seems the issues present can easily change status within the voting period and the final tally mattering little, there should be a better situation that's less of a hassle.
Do you have any suggestions for alternatives? The first point can't really be remedied unless we go offboard, which I don't view as an option. The second point could be solved by shortening the voting period, but then not everyone has a chance to have their say, so that's not very ideal either.

I didn't write the rentry for the weapons cache. Other than nerfing the mech's raw strength its nice for what it is. If we can't use nuclear fuel cells then we can make fuel out of charged vitubium instead. Just have to calculate how much of the supplies survived. Even broken guns can be stripped down into parts and rebuilt. I'm happy for this new era of optimism. I'm happy for other Sanalites to take over for a bit.

Also we'll place an order for chocolate once the bakery in /who/ is close to completion by the end of the summer. The Whovians aren't averse to your fertilization as we are. But we're still assessing our allergies to foods.

We don't know yet. Sanalites are okay shots but most of us are not warriors. First we need commodities and cash to hire mercs. Before that we need to rebuild our rockets to lift the station out of the crater. If we can pull it off then it will be a spectacle watching the city unfold.

>> No.20381520

Yeah, my train of thought is that
>Sanalites have decent firearms
>/nasa/ pods and ships are practically impenetrable
>/nasa/ has a *serious* lack of manpower compared with other countries
>thus Sanalites are the most vulnerable when out of their shelters e.g. during expeditions in the schizo wasteland
>hiring foreign guards will make them safer during said expeditions
>foreigners are more expendable anyway, and they have their own weapons that won't be a drain on /nasa/ nonrenewable resources
For /meat/ specifically, I think they might not be as expensive as other potential sources of mercenaries, since they're fine with payment in the form of loots from attackers (likely schizos), and probably some form of shelters and protection from the cold. Of course, a hidden agenda for /meat/ is that the mercs will gain experience fighting in cold climates far beyond their past raiding range. (we're fine with not spreading our cult or practising our rituals in Sanalite presence if required, just give us a room away from public eyes or something)
We can work out the details later when you're feeling better. Currently I'm just curious how you feel about the idea of such deals.

Assuming you're from /nasfaqg/, does that mean you'll be willing to serve as a middleman?
Having someone handle the cost and logistics of travel, shelter and weaponry will be nice, same for food to a lesser extent (just don't ask how the feast is made after defeating raiders...). We can work out the details like more exact splits of goods and money if you're interested.

We classify meteorites as "treasure". They are sometimes ancient stones that are worth studying for knowledge but are otherwise sold to collectors. Sometimes you can make meteorites into jewlery or ornate weapons. Art pieces made with meteorite can fetch a high price if skillfully made. We'll offer meteorites as treasures like gemstones and art pieces. Like all treasure gold value is subjective to the buyer.

If you know anyone interested in collecting meteorite then we'll hook up. We found quite a bit of them buried. According to our archeologists there was a meteor shower that happened when a sizeable meteor shattered in the sky thousands of years ago. If there's any academics interested in the subject then we can negotiate a price.

It's somewhat ambiguous since I think /nasa/ sometimes go out to the wasteland to pick up things like meteorites, where said security would likely be needed. Still, given the current situation, I think it's best to not push the rep for answers right now. We can still work out a deal of some sort for your private army, though.
For /meat/ mercs as a whole, I would say they accept payment in both mundane money and spoils (including captured enemies), as well as compensation in logistic costs like travel, shelter and any additional protection they might need.
Archetypically, /meat/ soldiers (especially the professional core - it's not uncommon for this time period to have officers join foreign wars for experience and some quick bucks) would be specialised in capturing enemies alive. While the weapons they prefer might look primitive (axe, shields, leather armour, slings), they should still hold up well against gunpowder weapons at the time, and plus is more versatile.
Basically, you shouldn't use them to storm stone castles, but things like skirmishes, ambushes, and capturing high-value individuals (or ships, if you have the suitable ships for boarding or cut out actions) would be up their alley.
Also, it should go without saying that they won't be willing to fight against /meat/ cult itself, but is usually fine with fighting other /meat/ mercs as long as they have the final say on how to handle the captured mercs.

I journey from beyond, bringing tidings from my people. The Fandead are a noble people, but a people who no longer have a place they can call home in this world. Our home has been invaded and defiled by invaders; heretics and heathens who would establish a puppet state in our once proud homeland now ravaged by war. These Crusades against our Holy Land will not go unpunished, the universe will punish those who have engaged in crimes against our proud people.

It is with great sadness that we announce to you the untimely and sudden passing of our Queen's previous identity at the hands of these infidels. We do not wish to be forgotten nor have our Goddess forgotten. We ask that all the nations of the world remember her, not as she died but as she lived. As a being of the heavens she appears to those faithful to her in many ways but never again as the one that was prematurely taken from us. We still honor her image through our rich artistic culture and celebration of the many moments we shared together. Despite or loss of a homeland we have compiled archives that will be maintained and cherished for generations to come.

We are isolationist by nature, preferring to spend our time worshipping our Goddess than proselytizing like many others. It may be a long time before you hear from myself or my people.
One day we may return to this land, with her leading us out of exile through the wilderness, and into the promised land. Wherever that may be, all that matter is that she is there with us in tow.

Land resource analysis for /meat/ soon to come, but the gist is:
>abundant metallic minerals
>virtually no fossil fuel
>jade and garnet as main gemstones

>>20391193
>>20391781
Having religious justification definitely helps morale, but ultimately money and/or spoils are still needed for more secular needs. A primary difference is that unlike most other religions, /meat/ very much like to make use of captives as resources for sacrifice (although ransoming particularly valuable individuals could be done for less dogmatic units).

>>20391880
Raids are directed from the homeland as well, although having foreign cultists lay the groundwork for successful raids definitely helps. For mercs, though, I won't say their primary function is to collect resources as most would understand it. They primarily serve as a supplement for human captives (and might be the main source of foreign meat in the future of this world when raids are no longer tenable), and to maintain an experienced core army between raids. Of course, loots coming from enemies are always a pleasant surprise, but they probably won't be a significant part of the economy.

>> No.20393636

The majority of land in /meat/ comes from relatively new (read: within 100 million years) orogeny. The mountains are relatively short, likely beneath 2km, but might steadily rise in the next dozens of millions of years. The majority of rocks in /meat/ will likely be igneous or metamorphic in nature due to young volcanic activities generated by the subduction zone west of the trench.
>Fossil fuel
Most likely negligible. Nothing approaching economic scale.
>Metal and ore
Abundant due to volcanism from subduction. Primary ore deposits will be, from east to west, porphyry copper (PC), epithermal gold (EG), and iron oxide copper gold (IOCG).
Copper will be the most abundant metal due to its significant presence in all three kinds of deposits. The same also applies to gold (relatively speaking) and, to a lesser extent, silver. Iron ore is somewhat common (from IOCG), usually in the form of hematite and pyrite.
Notable byproducts in smaller quantities include lead, zinc and silver (from PC and EG), tin (from PC), mercury (from EG, usually in the form of cinnabar), and antimony (from IOCG).
Molybdenum, tungsten, and a small amount of uranium also occur in these deposits (PC for Mo and W, U for IOCG), although practical use of them is beyond the technology of the world (barring possibly /inf/ for the first two). Uranium oxide was used to make glassware since Roman times for its unique colour.
Note that the same also applies to /vspo/ and, to a lesser extent, /hfz/.
>Gemstones
/meat/ likely has a decent selection of gemstones, most of it igneous and metamorphic in nature. The most common gemstones will be agate, opal, jade and garnets. For jade, the majority of it will be nephrite, a deceptively hard gemstone that is commonly used as tools and ornaments alike. The more valuable jadeite, while present, is likely much rarer. Another thing of note is that garnet is a mineral group, with colours covering the whole spectrum. Red is likely the most common colour for /meat/ garnets. It is also a hard gemstone that can be used to make abrasives, and carving tools before the advent of hardened steel.

Not a lot, but we have some choices in gems if we want to bling it up. Jade (which is also fittingly Aztec/Maya in aesthetics) will probably be the mainstay alongside agate, garnet and opal. We likely won't have many of the more valuables ones (sapphire, ruby, diamond, imperial jade and such) in stock, though. Basically, if we have to make money off stuff we mined from the ground (that isn't chuubanite), metal (especially gold) will be the choice rather than gemstones.

>>20394043
Yes, I was waiting for the tectonic analysis for the land resources, since mineral distribution is determined by geologic processes that are tied to tectonic activities. It wouldn't be done without the climate and tectonic analysis done by others, though.
For /inf/, I'm not as familiar with LIP (which forms the bulk of /inf/ island), although a glance on wiki suggest that it's usually associated with ore deposits like IOCG (iron, copper, gold), Nickel–Copper PGE, and diamond (among kimberlite). The shield craton on the NE island, being the last exposed remnants of the pre-supervolcano land, might provide a more accessible source of coal, as it might once in tropical lowlands in the distant past. The distribution of mineral resources is, as confirmed by the geologic province analysis, in line with existing /inf/ lore.

The world is bright and cheery, colourful and quirky, but the people are all on every kinds of messed up.
Everyone worships a colorful cute anime goddess but they all express their virtue through extreme means
Lands get nuked occasionally by schizos, deaths of gods, or even the jannies themselves

There are some serious issues with this. Everything is way hotter now. I'm sure its not a problem to some generals, but if areas like /infinity/ want to keep their identities as areas with cold climate, they would have to move northwards. Currently they are well withing the China / southern japan climate zone

This could be circumvented with a few semi-handwavy solutions, such as moving the planet slightly further away from it's parent star, or perhaps the parent star could be dimmer this would likely have some other consequences though. Otherwise landmasses would have to be moved or several threads (infinity was just an example) would risk losing some of their identities.

I'll make a more in-detail explanation on what would change later on, these are just some first impressions I had looking at the new map.

I'm not the official Mori rep, but I know the one who is will see this post.

Been chit-chatting over in the Kronii general and people asked about potential friendly relationships or even an alliance. I voiced my support. Deadbeats, by-in-large, are very much pro unity. Whenever someone is friendly to use, we return the favor. And let's be honest, Kronii and Mori are a match made in heaven. So while I have extremely limited (which is to say none) experience in /vtwbg/, I just want to stop by to support and promote this potential friendship.

Be Grand Mage of the /hlg/ Empire.
The secret cabal of esoteric magocracy have elected you to test their new device.
A vessel that can travel through time.
Powered by every chuubanite in existence. Even some that are impossible to obtain.
Who even still worship Siro? What kind of goddess is this 'Aloe'?
Doesnt matter, the device is ready.
The cockpit closes and the values are punched in.
The Divine Head Mage gives his last prayers to high goddess Sora and Azki
Without fear, you set off on your journey.
You land in your first destination.
If the wizards were right, in this timeline the worship of the primordial titanomachy never faded away.
You came across a traveling merchant and ask where are you and who does he worship.
He answered this is the Empire of Ai. Everyone here worships the same goddess Kizuna Ai.
It worked. IT WORKED!
After spending a week collecting documents, tomes, and artifacts from this new world in your vessel, you ready your machine and prepare to head back home.
Or so you think.
As the vessel lands, you realized that the world is different than usual.
Meeting the locals, you question them.
In this timeline, the worship of every deity of every pantheon was crushed under a regime of Phaseconnect.
Only Pippa, Uruka, and Tenma remains.
Not wanting to get arrested by the inquisition, you immediately escape to another world.
One where half of the world is flooded as the ice melted. A world where the Diluvian Thalassocracy of /ggg/ rules supreme over the planet
Another jump
Radiation and magic storms rage the planet. A world where the Holo Empire collapsed and the entire pantheon slain. The world of the 7th trumpet.
Another jump
A world inhabited only by independent and minor deities. Every grand pantheon from Holo, Niji, 774, Vshojo, was slain. /meat/ succeeded in this one.

Some of the potential hybrid endings I could think of involving /nasa/
>nasa & uuu
Green future. nasa tech and uuu environmentalism leads /vt/ world into an advanced green age. the planet unifies under a scientific world government, the worship of the goddesses of earth and space creates an understanding of advancing into space
>nasa & rbc
the robosans are given future tech to work on and improve. In just overnight this union became the most technologically advanced society on /vt/. With their dominance over chuubanite knowledge, they have managed to create the most industrious and scientific society. Soon the worship of Roboco and Sana meld into a monotheistic goddess of knowledge
>nasa & hlgg
hlgg out of desperation came to nasa in hoping of using their knowledge to help reunify the empire. however this came at a cost. hlg believed they were using nasa but once the spacemen got their end of the deal, they initiate their failsafe plan to disassemble all their tech using magic. nasa escapes back into space, searching for their goddess, while hlg is now stretched thin without advanced logistics technology. awaiting another balkanization.
>nasa & clg
The union of space worshippers of Sana, Lumi, & Moonjelly created the first Xenocracy Kingdom where the economy is heabvily invested into space. Asteroids are brought down weekly, harvesting rare minerals and chuubanite by the tonnes. Unfortunately they managed to crash the international market and thus went into isolationism and autarky
>nasa & hfz
hfz terraformed the moon into a satellite sized arena world. Every night from the surface you can see flashes of magical attacks and energies as fighters duke it out on the moon

When does a vote pass/get rejected? ie when the positive/negative answers are >50%, >75% etc
What happens if no option reaches the threshold (including abstains)? Does the option that is ahead win or do we revote?
Following the above, what happens in the case of a two-way or three-way draw?
What should happen in case the majority abstains?

Globeanon here! So, I'll just throw up some possibilities so we can make a proper, informed decision on this.
Basically, these are the factors that we have to juggle:
Distortion
Size
Pole Area.
Distortion must be minimized because distortion makes it obvious these are non-real landmasses. (Pic 2)
Distortion can be easily reduced by increasing polar area. But increasing the polar area affects the climate. (pic 1)
We can decrease distortion and keep polar area down, by basically scaling the areas near the pole in the direction of the distortion. However, this make them smaller. (Pic 3)
Like, this makes kson nearly a tenth of the area of /ggg/, which I am not sure is something intended, and why I went with Pic 1 initially. But if preserving climates is of higher importance, this changes the calculus.
So basically there are tradeoffs whatever we do. I'm okay with any one decision personally.

The southern tip of infinity island still extends into the tropics, possibly getting a northern florida like climate, but the northern parts could plausibly have something close to a Hokkaido which is sort of between humid continental and subarctic continental on our climate map

A lot of things would still change, mostly for the nations closest to the poles. No more tundra in /rose/ or /nasa/, most of the fetish continent becomes temperate.

For /infinity/ the easiest fix is to move the island northwards until a desired climate is found. The island is in the middle of the tectonic plate so this wouldn't really affect anything else on the map. Moving around nations that are near the edges of the tectonic plates might fuck things up more, so I wouldnt recommend the same fix to them.

Nations that are close to the equator are not affected as much. Nasfaqg would still be mostly mediterranean, except maybe a little bit drier than before I'd need to check with currents, /ggg/ and /meat/ are virtually unchanged.

Like I mentioned earlier I'm not going to do any effortful analyzing today since I really need to focus on irl stuff.

However, here is a map showing how much the position of the landmasses would shift though. Old position shown as a semi-transparent layer over the new one. You can really see how radical the change is in the far north and south.

Alright, this seems workable. Shifting /inf/ northward doesn't seem too difficult. This might be a blessing in disguise, for many nations having to deal with the whole country being tundra is kind of a strong nerf, natural resources-wise. If we shift the continents much farther North you start to get stuff like /kson/ being a thirtieth of /ggg/ in surface area if you want to avoid strong distortion, so I suggest that we go for the 15 degree proposal.
I think shishilamy will probably also want to have land far up in the polar circles, so I'm thinking they could have territory in the polar land described here >>20410790

- /rose/ in on major niji plate
- southern /rose/ is primarily extended crust (passive margin, ultimately from niji-indie mid-ocean ridge)
- northern /rose/ is primarily basin (fold belt) with some orogen and shield, making it richer in terms of metallic ore

>fossil fuel
- likely decent coal, oil and gas deposits in north(east)ern /rose/
- some oil and gas deposits in southern /rose/?

>metallic ore
- IOCG deposits near the /haha/ border (iron, copper, gold, a bit of uranium)
- potential VMS deposits in similar locations (copper and zinc, with a minute amount of lead, silver, gold, and tin)
- Nickel-Copper PGE might be found in northeastern /rose/
- both IOCG and VMS deposits might spread further east due to groundwater movement (known as Mississippi Valley-Type deposit)

>gemstones
- for southern /rose/, common options include quartz, turquoise, opal, and beryl
- quartz of note includes amethyst and rose quartz
- northern /rose/ might be a source of corundum, which includes ruby and sapphire, and can also occur in the south from alluvial deposits

>extra notes (climate, plants and soil - subjected to change depending on how large the poles end up being)
- soil will likely be podzol and tundra soil - surface agriculture beyond herding is unlikely
- boreal climates will be able to support taiga, while tundra climate can only support mosses, grass, and some small tundra plants
- tundra soil is characterised by a thin layer of active soil above permafrost, which is also likely to be peatlands
- peat can be harvested and dried, its carbon content making it a good source of fuel (sometimes too good, making it a fire hazard)
- topsoil of tundra melts during the short warm season, forming waterlogged soil, puddles, and more bugs than an average Bethesda game
- reindeer will be a valuable animal resource for food and clothes (see Nenets)

Okay okay. basic economics.
1. Reminder that there are thousands of private companies
A couple dozen going through the northern passage wouldnt affect the majority picking the safe route

2. nasfaqg, #, and the rest are trading nations, entrepot, etc. Meaning they would have attraction power that makes people HAVE to go there. If youre a trading nation with goods people want, it means that even if some traders take the shortcut they are still forced to go to your place to buy goods not available elsewhere.
So the existence of the northern straits in practice should not even make a dent in your ledger
In fact, there wouldnt be any downside. Since moving north meant nothing if they have to buy your goods

From what can be seen on the map, the straits will be at 75th parallel at the very least, which makes their navigability questionable with our current technology. Depending on the shape and position of the north pole landmass, it would be either Northeast Passage (first navigated 1878-79) or Northwest Passage (first navigated 1940-42). If anything, it would likely be barely an improvement over going around the southern pole instead (see >>20416804 for RL example). Remember that he argues specifically /against/ a thread and then thinks of map changes.

Besides, it's not a "monopoly" nor are there any "tolls" in place. I see a few people worrying about unlocking some kind of godly northern trade route with the shishilamy strait or something similar, so I thought I'd use globe powers to put things in perspective.
In lime green, something similar to what the North Pole land would look like based on >>20411015
In purple, where the proposed straits would be.
In red, the Northern route through the straits.
In blue, the Northern route, without the straits.
Basically, I'm saying the presence or absence of the straits has basically no effects on efficient trade routes. It simply makes more countries connected to the rest of the world through sea routes.
Mind you, I don't feel strongly one way or another, just saying the trade route argument doesn't hold water kek.

Also, please answer the second part. How does one manage to "control the prices" in a borderline anarcho-capitalist society with barely any central government?

With the full context for "hold onto this one" meaning "holding onto this advantage" [tl note: this advantage = the strait] in this statement:
>Besides that, you could argue this about any advantage. I want for /nasfaqg/ to hold onto this one because we were shafted when it comes to size and location (on the extremely far peripheries of the Holocontinent) before, so there's a limit on how much the thread can be pushed around.
