Depends what you're thinking of. If they have flammable or easy to damage membranes, you could essentially just saturation bomb them out of the air using fireworks. Alternatively, if you want to be more precise and use less gunpowder, you could use a cannonball designed to burst into fletchettes after travelling a certain distance.

Otherwise, I suppose you could repurpose a mortar to use lighter rounds to act as a precision anti-air weapon. None homing anti-aircraft weapons aren't especially high tech. Its basically just another explosive projectile launcher that's been optimized to hit fast moving aerial targets. Even a ballista that fires bolas (or another entanglement device) could work

I was originally going to object to Hololive being based aroung the USSR, but I WAS the anon that recommended that the Kson global (and the Rushia global should she come back as a chuuba) be sent to the far north of the Holocontinent, basically exiling her to /vt/ Siberia, so now I wonder what flag would represent the UHIS, or maybe the Hololive Pact? We really do need a name for these supra-national entities or alliances, depending on whether we inspire them in the EU or NATO.

Another thing that I was thinking... We might also need flags or a name or some lore for /vt/ FIFA, considering the /vt/ league is happening these days.

Don't think the relationship is too hostile apart from the usual shit-flinging. As for the alliances, I don't think they would be too coherent, considering that /hlgg/ barely has any power over the splits, and the current tech level probably makes actual administration of large areas like that implausible anyway. I would imagine the holo empire (name pending) being more like pre-Imperial Reform HRE and Eastern Zhou dynasty than USSR/Warsaw Pact.

Principal's log:

Looks like its all hands on deck repairing /nasa/ station's engines. We gotta move the station out of the crater hopefully by the end of the month. There are still some repair droids operational. So most of the heavy lifting will be done by them. We're going to have to divert power from food processing and air conditioning to get maintenance up and running. We're currently assessing how much fuel we can process from the Chuubanite from the meteor by mixing it with our fuel reserves. If the math is correct the Chuubanite will double the current fuel we have. We're at 12% fuel. But if we get at least 20% fuel then we can safely lift and maneuver the station upright onto stable land. By doing so we will free up 40% of the facilities including workshops, bakeries, and medical.

Before we can do anything we have to clean up the battlefield around the station. It was a bloodbath with casualties on both sides. I don't want /nasa/ to get heavily involved into politics. A defense pact maybe necessary if and when we encounter a full scale invasion. We have also arrested some spies attempting to enter the station. While they did not say what their country of origin is I can only make guesses. Its natural other nations have taken interest in our technology. However I must stress that the prime directive is absolute and that sharing any space age technology with other cultures is forbidden. That said the technology is advanced enough to share pre-industrial revolution technology. /infinity/ has developed clockwork technology that is on par with industrial era if they have a combustion engine. And /who/'s metalurgy uses many modern chemistry and techniques that modern blacksmiths use. While we never met /rbc/ formally, we have concluded that they have fully operational automatons very close to modern robotics. /uuu/ has no technology but they don't need it. Their forest is that of a fairy tail without fairies. I swore when I plucked the leaf of a sapling it slapped my hand back. And there's an entire world beyond the nations that surround us.

For now we're wrapping up our current trade orders. Once the merchants arrive with their ships we will trade our wheat, flour, sugar, and maple syrup for cattle, chickens, wildberries, and potatoes. We still have preserved space food. So we'll focus on cultivating some crops in the greenhouse. There is another nation that promised tea and bath salts. However there are rumblings of possible war between the Hololive and Nijisanji pantheons. Best we can do is keep our ear on the ground and avoid conflict when we can.

isn't soaking in hot water basically the same as bath? The only way I can see this happening in the Anya-Petra global is if the Pentomos or the "insert name of Anya's fanbase here" get to uppity and decide to split their global forever, only to realize that they cannot survive alone and now their countries are poor and filled with narcos, and drugs and /meat/ guerrillas and shit.

Republic Owl / Respublika Filin / Republique Hibou / 共和国 ワシミミズク
On economics, resources, goods production, and industry.

Due to the violent beginnings of the Republic, formed in the middle of war and conflict, the impressive and fast mobilization had influenced the Republic to produce cheap and reliable goods to feed and arm its needs, all the while also funding research and development to aid in the mass production directed for the harsh conditions of the wars. Once the wars were over after the Republic managed to fully secure itself, it still mantained its preference for cheap and reliable, as can be observed from the cloth infustry that exists, you most certainly won't find high quality cloth, but instead a large amount of cheaper products that will do the job right.
The Republic's first economic sector is made up of agricultural produce that has been addresed in a previous document, and the mining sector, as the large amount of hills and woods of the land allow for it. Of these, iron, coal, aluminium, and some amounts of potassium are the main ores drilled from the mines. These resources are then brought to manufacturing centers where they will be processed by the smiths.
Steel working has sped up recently in order to sustain the Republic's growing infrastructure and as an export to trade. The previously mentioned cloth industry, also referred to as the textiles industry has a solid economic base due to its importance, and is currently growing. The shipmaking markets and the ports are constantly working thanks to growing naval investment in part of the Republic, it also takes care of assisting the Hoshiyomia navy in its duties and providing logistics aid to them. Alcoholic beverages are produced and sold in the nation, of particular note is the one made from fermenting potatoes, originally starting from a moonshine operation to raise funds, it got nationalized and turnt into a state controlled industry to avoid further issues relating to legality, another popular alcoholic beverage is beer made from wheat, the mountain monks tend to enjoy the drinks a lot despite the differences with their own traditional drinks, so they are big buyers for it.
Cans of food and the canning industry, originally for military use only, is now being repurposed for civilian and economic use as a way to ensure the safety of food across large distances, most popular with soldiers are the famed canned potatoes and meat.
The arms industry is somewhat large, as the Republic had it as a priority for much time, however, with the relaxation of militarism in the country, weapons are mainly left in stockpile and not sold away, with almost no arms trade taking place unless it is with direct allies such as Hoshiyomia.
Trading agreements with the druids of /uuu/ are difficult to do as they are very self sufficient, but the free movement of goods across their territory means that the Republic still ends up as the main trader in the area.
While you may not think so, the Republic holds a very advanced national newspaper and is the main paper producer of the region, even if the printing presses that are used are faulty and prone to breakdowns, this has lead to a widespread hate for printing presses and the difficulties of dealing with them by the population.

This is a very basic text, I'll eventually think of more things to add. Things are always subject to change as always, but this will be the main structure of the economy from now on.

Precisely. You'd likely deal with individual plutocrats or joint-venture companies lesser traders form.
Extreme decentralization would mean that /nasfaqg/'s capital (and goods) flows very freely and depends on the nature of individual plutocrats, who usually also visit their 'home' thread, although not always as some emigrated permanently and stay within the nation itself.
This combined with near-precognitive recognition of potential profits (by number autism, harnessing the FLOW, or powerful boof) would likely mean that if a gold rush were to happen somewhere, then before gov't could pass laws or even have their officials arrive on the site, there will likely already be a /nasfaqg/ plutocrat-sponsored mining town and banking/investment schemes.

Oh, and if the island is volcanic in origin, then it is somewhat important to know whether the volcano(s) are still active or not.
If the area is highly active then due to the position of the island an oceanic ridge could run through the area think: Iceland, or Japan, sort of
If the area is no longer active or is only slightly active, but still has history of volcanism, the island could have formed due to a hotspot think: hawaii, but bigger, although for this a series of islands would be expected to have formed nearby.
If the island has no history of recent volcanic activity, then it could exist in the middle of its own tectonic plate think: madacascar, sort of

Kronies are fans of the arts. Some freely publish their written works and encourage other people to come and bring their work over to our lands. This can be the case for written works, plays, paintings, and even pornography. /Infinity/ is so artistically expressive that some residents of other countries come here to present their works, including deadbeats and brat monks. Our Takeshi ancestors believed that writing about the goddesses meant you were blessed by them, leading to the Kronie culture centered around writing about the Kroniissiah.

Military and Police Units of Infinity

>Infantry
Represent average posters. Conscripts and recruits, these serve as the backbone of the army. They are armed with bolt-action rifles with bayonets, and are trained to stay mobile and in loose formations, using their rifles to pick off enemies from a distance - the bayonets are only for when the enemy approaches. They are also trained in manning field cannons. They wear blue coats and simple helmets.

>Vanguard
Represent the Kronii Love ritual posters. Recruits chosen for zeal and willpower to lead the charge in battle. They are rationed Kronii Milk before battle to boost their senses. They are equipped with bolt-action rifles with bayonets and usually kept in loose formation, firing as they charge before using the bayonets as melee weapons. They wear breastplates over their blue coats. Will yell "I LOVE KRONII!", "KRONII LOVE!", and similar war cries.

>Officers
Represent bread bakers. Experienced soldiers who command units of infantry and vanguard. The soldiers wait on their command before battle, no matter what. They are armed with decorated bolt-action rifles and sabres, and are kept close to the lines of the infantry. They wear tall hats to signify rank and direct attention from the soldiers.

>Beserkers
Represent /meat/ronies. Mercenaries from the southern seas hired for their ferocity and brutality in up-close fights. They are often rationed refined Kronii Milk to boost their strength and endurance. They are equipped with bladed and blunt weapons traditional to their people, and are usually made to charge enemy formations that have been loosened by infantry or vanguard. They wear black coats in Kronie style, breastplates, and muzzles to prevent biting.

>Bluemen Corps
Represent chumronies and krunnyposters. Soldiers specially trained as sailors to act as marines, defending ports of Infinity and her allies, as well as aboard ships for deployment in combat zones. They are trained to man the guns and machinery of kronie ships, as well as deploy from steamboats unto the field. When off duty, they are known to enjoy the company of young women wherever they're stationed. They're armed with bolt-action rifles and falchions. They wear blue shirts, of a lighter shade than most military uniforms, and white caps.

>Enforcers
Represent sexposters. Police officers recruited to defend the streets from crime. They ride bicycles and patrol the streets, and have rudimentary sirens that sound like someone yelling about sex. They are armed with batons and wear blue coats and black caps.

>Peacekeepers
Represent kronies who sexpost Kiara to deter schizos. Enforcers selected for counter-rebellion operations within Kronie territory. They wear specialized "phoenix down" coats developed by Infinity using phoenix feathers traded from KFP; the coats are fire-resistant and worn to defend against rebel arsonists armed with fire bombs. They are armed with newly-designed short-barreled lever-action rifles for quick and close encounters in the streets of Infinity. Their coats are a bright orange to draw attention away from civilians.

hold on.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolt_action#History
produced for the first time in 1824, only adopted by the prussian army in 1841.
It was not fielded widely until after the danish war in 1864.
I'm thinking that the mass usage of bolt-action rifles is very disputable.
Also, normally you'd have a dedicated battalion or unit or whatever for manning the field cannons. training entire armies for it is not very feasible.

Steamboats...

Bycicles are interesting, they are far more modern than one might think, the first "modern" bycicle was made in 1886, and that's something that goes beyond the time period.

Lever-actions kind of have the same issue as bolt-action rifles, but they are described as experimental weaponry, so that means it isn't as widely available, also, short barreled sounds neat.
I don't really have any other criticisms

Part of the reason I made >>19852474 asking about jp, was to possibly add them as another continent on the other side of the globe. We wouldn't draw them in any detailed form, but it would be the place of origin for the a lot of the civs in the current map.
That jp continent would make up a half or a third of the globe, meaning that our current map and the nations on it would be scaled down and wouldn't be as big. I still think such a continent should be added, to represent not only jp but the rest of 4chan as well, as we often get tourists appearing in our threads during events or drama.
Such an addition could be useful in lore for flavour, that can then be transformed into respective cultural elements. For example, a lot anons were not "born" in vt (only came to vt after it was created/they learned about vtubers, and hadn't visited 4chan earlier), but rather came form other boards (sp, mu, v, jp, d, a, co, tg etc). Those people can say that their family lineage has traces to those lands before the split. If a thread has a substantial number of contributers, or few very active ones, that came from a specific region, it can be said that the nation is especially good/ specialises at whatever that region is (ie mu posters produce music(lol), fa posters produce fashion(lmao) etc). Not sure how the dive grass tournament works exactly, but if there are any sp anons in there, they could claim that their family have been sports club managers/players for centuries or something.
Again, we wouldn't need to draw it (drawing this one map has been enough, I can't even begin to imagine drawing the other boards), but rather just decide on its size. We could even say that due to the split that continent has been censored from all maps, but it's still there.

I'm going to assume there's no petroleum in this world as Chuubanite exists. You'll have to refine Chuubanite into oil if you want anything close to gasoline. That said /nasa/ might rediscover nuclear energy first before gasoline at this rate. And nuclear is 50-100 years away.

Not our rep since he's asleep, but /∞/'s tech is mid 1800s, which is perfectly in line for bolt action rifles . And we specifically made sure the rifles don't go beyond a certain technological levels, IE. they aren't magazine fed.
We also voted to avoid more rapid fire repeating rifles like the lever action or recoil, even though recoil is the most clock like, specifically to address 'balance' issues.

>> No.19890539

I was also thinking that Chuubanite exists naturally in plants and animals, including algae and plankton, that coal and oil would naturally have chuubanite mixed into it. Petro maybe off the table but coal is useable in this age.

tech being mid-1800's was one of the things beincg constantly debated, you know what else is mid-1800's? An ironclad. Bolt action rifles being in mass use like that is not quite as "balanced" as you might think. I'm fine with them being on more limited numbers or dedicated for specific units that are harder to replace.

>> No.19890887

>>19890542
Unless you're reviving the debate, I was under the impression that it was solved. And Ironiclads were settled as well, outside of a vocal minority. And like the ironclad, the bolt action is balanced, by not incorporating magazines, making the reload process is much slower.
And again, we already self nerfed ourselves by choosing model with the slowest rate of fire.
The bolt action requires four distinct movements to load each round. This makes it much slower compared to other repeating rifles like the pump action and lever action, which both only requires two movements.
Moreover, the trigger hand must abandon the gun and the weapon after each shot to operate the bolt. Since the trigger hand leaves the gun, you’ll have to regrip the gun after each shot. This also means the shooter would have to change sight and acquire the target again after every shot.

>> No.19891215

>>19890887
I'm bringing up ironclads to explain how things had to be nerfed for them to even exist, also, comparing bolt actions to pump and lever is senseless considering the technology barely exists in the world, I'm fine with bolt-actions being there, it's something that has historical precedent, but not on how every soldier seems to have one when that wouldn't even be accomplished until after the franco-prussian war. Also, here's another question, do you have smokeless gunpowder?

Actually the ironclad are allowed to be used without nerfs. Originally they were to use clockwork technology, but that was reverted back to steam technology after we got more information on naval steam technology of the era and the introduction of Chuubanite. So that's a very bad comparison. Also we could have access to any of the other firearms listed, but we're keeping it to would be the most balanced.

As for your specific example for the Dreyse gun, it was first designed in 1836 and adopted for military production in 1841. there were multiple reasons why it wasn't as widely adopted until the end of the mid 1800s. Mainly because it wasn't produced fast enough to meet the demand and the military budget at the time was also prohibited. If you removed those retrains, it would have seen complete use after the German revolutions of 1848–49 where it first proved it's worth. And even with the shortages. over 60% of the Persian army had Dreyse guns by the Austro-Prussian War, so they weren't limited use fire arms.
Furthermore, we aren't the Prussians so attempting to push 1 for 1 allegories would be wholly without merit.

Also if you're trying to lie a trap with smokeless gunpowder because it's late 19th century. I'm going to pull a turnabout on you to further balance our weapons. We're still using black gunpowder, which has the obvious drawbacks which further shows they're balanced.

So the bolt action rifles are within proper time, uses technology within the time, and choices were made to nerf its effectiveness.

taxing 300% would be bad business, smart merchants have very affordable prices. Perhaps passing through is free, and the nasfags gain their profits from selling you and your crew more stuff and/or providing them with entertainment while you are parked there. I hear the locals are really into gambling, and since the place doesnt have a central government (meaning very liberal laws), nasfaqg could very well turn into some sort of a amsterdam / las vegas sort of place.
No need to charge you for passage when your crew gambles, drinks, and fucks their month's wages away.

As for Ahoy, have they been established as a pirate kingdom and if yes, do you really think pirates would refrain from raiding your ships just because you used a canal a few dozen kilometers north of their border?

>> No.19910176

>>19909677
If there's anything that /nasfaqg/ hates more than taxes, it's taxes on goods.

Payment for passage will likely be nominal and include protection on the hazardous waters around the area (part of the profits given to /ahoy/ privateers and corsairs bought by the plutocrats), but more importantly every ship would be forced to stop for some time and present their goods for sale for three days (or so). This procedure (aka. Staple, from Staple Rights) could be waived at a fee, but with /nasfaqg/'s capital, warehouses, and amenities, it'd likely be just a formality since ships would want to stop there to rest and trade either way.

There's a difference between forcing them to come after you and being forced to travel around their entire country where they can ambush you at their leisure.
Also given how close they are to Nijisanji, wouldn't that encourage the Niji nations to annex the ahoy territory in lazu and nijimale/2434 or just declare war? Especially if /ahoy/ is willing to violate the waters of a fellow hololive country?

A Legend from the Kronie Faith
(or, why we are paranoid about sharing our technology)

10,000 years ago, our Goddess Kronii ruled our nation directly. She walked among us. She loved us dearly and bestowed gifts to us. With her gifts, we achieved wonders that others could only dream of. Our nation was a great nation.
However, some gods became jealous of our Goddess Kronii and our great nation. They sought to destroy us but they could not take on our Goddess head on. So they schemed and created the demon Cort'an. Slowly but surely the demon possessed tools, given to us by our Goddess Kronii, one by one undetected. Through those tools, Cort'an whispered evils into the unsuspecting people's ears and they were seduced away from our Goddess Kronii.
When Cort'an thought she had seduced enough of the population, she attacked our Goddess. Her very own people, with a blessed spear gifted from the Goddess, that breathed fire and spit lead, shot the unsuspecting Goddess in the back. It caused great grief to our Goddess Kronii and she shed a tear. However, when the tear landed on the ground, the corruption in the vicinity was cleansed.
Realizing what had happened, our Goddess Kronii burned in righteous fury and drew her divine swords, Tick and Tock and walked out into the open. She commanded Cort'an to come out of hiding. Cort'an obliged. She wielded the stolen spear in her hands. Cort'an thought that she had the upper hand since she had a divine weapon and the Goddess was injured. But the demon was mistaken and she was no match for our Goddess even with a gaping wound in her back. Our Goddess Kronii vanquished the demon Cort'an.
Although she had won, the fight was brutal and the Goddess was gravely wounded. She had to return to the heavens to heal or she would die. However, even in such dire moments, our Goddess Kronii worried about her people. For her last command, she ordered Ouroboros to encircle our nation and sleep in the depths of the ocean, to wake up when our nation needs protection from other gods who might seek to destroy us again. And so our Goddess Kronii returned to the heavens but her love remains with us.

What kronies usually learn from this myth:
Kronies believe in the supremacy of our goddess.
Kronies believe our technology is a gift from our goddess.
Kronies believe in an external enemy that seeks to destroy us and our goddess.
Kronies believe technology in the wrong hands will be used to destroy us and our goddess.
Kronies believe our goddess's bodily fluids have great power.
Kronies believe the betraying our goddess through apostasy is an unforgivable act of treachery and such individuals should be punished severely.

The thing that /nasa/ is wary of trading cacao from /meat/ is the use of blood as fertilizer. The spacemen always wear suits because they have air filters to filter out airborne diseases. We re-use the ashes of our dead for fertilizer and other things I am not allowed to know.

>> No.19921105

In that case, it might help to know that cacao is usually dried and fermented before being shipped, so even if we assume pathogens in the blood (and other human bits for that matter) manage to survive in the plants, the process should be able to eliminate them. If /nasa/ is still concerned about them surviving the process, it is always possible to have chocolate production facilities in /meat/ as well, roasting and grinding the beans into nibs or finished chocolate before shipping. That should ensure that the product will be as sterilised as most other food when they reach /nasa/.

>> No.19921458

>>19921105
Sugar and alcohol is also a pretty good pathogen killer. At least alcohol is. You could spice up some of your chocolate by adding a tad bit of alcohol into the mix. The alcohol should evaporate when cooking. Unless you want the chocolate to contain the alcohol. Then you pour alcohol in the cooled chocolate before sealing it off.

If we can't secure another source of cacao then we may open up trade. Though I don't know what /nasa/ has agriculturally that /meat/ doesn't have besides finely ground cake flour and freeze dried vegetables.

>> No.19921951

>>19921458
I mean, the roasting process should kill the pathogens even without the alcohol, and sugar suppressing pathogen growth is mostly when the concentration is high enough (like in honey) that they start sucking up water from germs. In that case, chocolate itself is also fairly resistant to (living) pathogen and mould because it doesn't have much water in it. in practice I don't mind much about what /meat/ gets in return, since trade relations itself is more interesting than a fair deal given the fictional nature of this setting We can probably wait for more information regarding resource placement before deciding on what /nasa/ can trade. This might be a little much, but I had a follow-up idea with Rosestones. What if in order to use the stored energy, friction had to be applied to them? One Rosestone with friction can be used for lighting and heat like normal. But if two Rosestones rubbed against each other hard enough, they could spark or even cause a tiny explosion? It would be more dangerous to handle, but could have some interesting uses. I think.

They came in boats of iron and smoke. Strange men and stranger, clock-shaped helmets. It was not the first time the Risuners had seen seen worshippers of the English-speaking Holo pantheon, but it was the first time making contact with these peculiar people. Donning dark blue coats and standing in formation, eerily still as if built into the deck of their ships. They met no resistance, and oddly enough no interest, as they marched out with rifles past the pink fur-clad natives. They met neither still as they walked to the nearest settlement, a peculiar one with finer dress with a taller hat speaking up in the crowd.

"Risuners, I come to represent the map making efforts of the VTWBG, a union of nations across the globe." He bowed low, formal and stiff. "I am a Kronie from the northern island of Infinity. I hope to make good relations with your people, and to introduce you to the world stage."

No response, save for disinterested stares. Some of the natives continued to go about their business. Just as the sharply dressed foreigner was about to question if these people spoke Global, one among them spoke.

"And? What do you want, stranger?" The man raised an eyebrow, still carrying a sack of nuts, looking more annyoed at this pause in his work than curious of this display. "Risuners keep to ourselves."

"... And what is it you Risuners do here?" the Kronie asked, rising and straightening up. "Please, educate us on your culture."

"We work our nuts," another native said. "We enjoy our nuts. And when the holy month comes, we feast upon the nuts heartily." He seemed to be a little proud of their way of life, chin raised and chest puffed. "All in the name of our goddesses."

"We wait upon our goddesses," said another, a youth, "We wait upon their singing in their divine voices. Long have we waited and long shall we wait."

"Two spirits as one, the sultry Ayunda and the chipper Risu," the first native continued. " Both demand of us much nuts. We have much work and worship to do, we have no interest in this... map making."

The Kronie leaned forward with every word from the Risuners. Constant nutting, a penchant for their goddess's songs, "sultry"? Were these people descended from the Takeshis, like his own people? And if had to say Infinity was not already interested in this region's position and possible resources, he'd be lying. He gestured to his aide, who had been recording this dialogue, to stop for a moment. "... If you've no interest in the world at large, then I do not represent the world at large. Now, I represent Infinity."

He procured parchment from his pack - was he prepared for this? - and began reading from it. "Infinity holds every nation's rights to their to their borders and to their territory dearly. In the..." he trailed off, eyeing the disinterested crowd before continuing, "mutual interest of all Kronies and all Risuners, Infinity offers to take this land as her protectorate - loyalty for loyalty, we will defend your country to our last breaths in exchange for your compliance."

If any Risuners objected, they kept it to themselves, as quiet as the rest of the remarkably bored crowd.

"Do you... accept?"

...

The clock men sailed back north, the soldiers and sailors cracking open crates of Kronii Milk to celebrate, dancing and drinking for a job well done. But the diplomat did not join them, holed up in his cabin, fiddling with the freshly sealed envelope in his hands. Signed documents that could possibly alter the course of history, change the world.

Or maybe he was thinking too hard. Maybe at most, these papers just meant a lot of money for his superiors and a much easier time for all his nation's ships. He knows the higher-ups back home would be happy to know they can work on that canal now, making trade with the western end of the mainland far easier.

Ah, best not fret over what the future holds, he thought to himself. Time is the goddess', concern, not his. He loosened the buttons of his coat, leaning back in his seat as he opened a vintage bottle of Kronii Boob Sweat. A job well done indeed.

At the very least, maybe this meant they could all get to know some of those native women better.

----------

Infinity is happy to announce that it has acquired the lands of Risuners as a protectorate. Infinity will defend it's borders in exchange for the natives' loyalty. We have been given free range over the land, and it will be developed to the benefit of both Kronies and Risuners alike.

Thank you for your time.
